  • As the babies have gotten older it is now time to start milking our does. This morning I milked all 6 of our girls that can be milked, including 2 first fresheners who have never been milked before.

I am a realtor in North Idaho that sells land to modern homesteaders. I'm the only realtor I know of with a permaculture design certificate. I have a few past clients who run successful youtube channels, but as I get further into my commitment to shepherding, I am finding your content wonderfully relevant. You are showing me real world problems and solutions, and it's so much better than reading a book or going to a farm when nothing is actually happening and the host is just telling the story of how to do this or that. So THANK YOU! Please keep it up! You are providing a wonderful education!
I do have a question that you probably have an answer for. When you dry out the goats, the dairy stops. How do you store the different dairy products through the dry season so your family doesn't run out of dairy?

Thank you so much for your comment!! The neighbours cow helps with that 😉 we also can freeze the milk/cheese to use later on. We only were out of fresh milk for 3 months this year. We also have our own heifer that we will breed this year. We will have an abundance of milk to freeze for future use.
