About this video: Today we work through your solution and re-check the hives at the farm for queens.
This Channel:
Although this beekeeping channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi pepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. With that in mind, I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, replaced the hedges in front of my house with blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. In short, I will share a lot more than beekeeping on this channel.
A little about me:
I am a person who believes you are never to old to learn something. Be it beekeeping, farming, raising chickens, painting, filming and editing video, making wine, beer, bread, cheese, and other fermentation consumables, play guitar etc... If I see something I want to try I start it immediately. If there is one thing I could choose to pass along to my children this would be it. Never be afraid to try. My wife famously told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. I am bad at quite a few things.
I hope you find my beekeeping videos fun and entertaining as well as get something out of them. I hope I inspire someone to get out and try something new. If you do enjoy my videos, please take a moment to spread the word about this channel and help it, and myself, grow. Have a great day and BEE Happy!

You should buy one of the ice jackets that jerome bee farm and homestead wears.
I love my jacket. The Georgia humidity just stinks.
I think you need to run a division board down the center and turn those into a 2 unit type colony. It would make alot honey that's for sure. Add a excluder let them share a suppers like we do with nucs .. those were split down the center it be exactly like a tree cavity wouldn't be a hive beetle hotel bees would be plenty strong.
It has actually bee a very good year for SMB here. I think I may have only found 8 or 9 all season.
A little humor on a hot humid Georgia morning was nice "Presidential Moment. LOL
I here other YT's say that leaving to many queen cells in a hive increase the chance of virgin secondary swarms which can weaken the hive further. I usually take out several of the smallest ones and leave 2-3. Some say no more than 2. IDK
Sorry about Army. I thought it was in trouble. Have a good week.
I have thought about doing that but I am so afraid I will have all of hem go out to mate and all get eaten by birds.
The fighting amongst the virgins can leave the victor damaged also. Usually only one virgin goes out to mate. We have maybe a 50-80 % chance she comes back. Once in awhile a virgin will sneak out without fighting and make a secondary cast swarm. There are no right or wrongs in beekeeping so we play the odds.
Things are looking good on the farm! It's nice you have some shade that time of day to inspect. Army hive having ants is way better than them having SHB, I think you may have caught that at the appropriate time. I still would like to see a peek in that hive from the top looking towards the bottom without frames to see how it's all holding up. Thanks for sharing!
SHB? Can’t say familiar with the term.

Small hive beetles
I has been a great SHB season here. Very few so far. I will get a look inside of the army hive without frames in an upcoming video for you.
Thanks for the video. Hope you are feeling better.
I bet he does, knowing that the biggest hatemonger in recent US history Joe Biden has dropped out of the race today.
I am feeling 100% today. Thank you.
Atleast you have extra drawn comb. Still sucks loosing bees. Lost a couple as well. Hope your feeling better
I think I may replace the bee barn with a nice solid 10 framer :-)
@@BugFarmerBees I'm sure the bees will make the best of it
I feel for you with the heat and humidity. Us in Eastern Ontario know what humidity is like. The amount of rain we have gotten this year is huge and doesn't help with the heat. Working in my gardens and greenhouse just about kills me.
The girls look great on the farm. Sorry about the bee barn dying out. That sucks big!
Oh yeah, my Sting o Meter is up to 13 and not from honey 🐝 but wasps.
Yikes! A wasp-o-meter would suck. Wasps are just plain mean. Thanks for tuning in :-)
Southeast Ga Here and it has been Hot for sure.
Where in the southeast Ga?

👍👍👍
Thanks for stopping in.
Was the farmer happy with his harvest of peaches, blueberries and strawberries this year?
Did he rent hives in previous seasons?
(I may look new, but I deleted all my old comments 😎 )
Hi Tanks in space. I recognize you. Why did you delete all of your old comments? Anyway, yes, the farmer had a fantastic harvest this year. He had so many peaches on the trees he had to pick about half of them off the tree while they were young so the others would grow big. He did have another beekeeper on the property in previous years but from what I have seen of his hives they weren't very well maintained.
you are sweating, and it's freezing here in Oz, 9 degrees C, and icy rain. Sorry to see the Army hive's demise.
We will rebuild the Army next season. It is hard for me to comprehend it being cold down under.
I was working my bees yesterday in the hot sun so I feel for you.
It is always so hot here in Georgia during the summer months. There will be no relief until November.
@@BugFarmerBees My work before I retired took me to Georgia occasionally. Usually during the summer covering for people on Vacation.
"How would you unpause yourself?" 😆🤣
I know right?
I see a cup at 25:37, but it seems to be empty.
Several cups.
Showing my ignorance - did the bees of that hive all die or leave?
Possibly a little of both. I suspect they were so weak they couldn't defend against the ants and moved out. without a queen, they probably just begged their way into other colonies.
I hate that you lost that colony. I lost 2 that same way first thing this spring. Pretty disappointing!
All will be right with the world next season. The Army will rise :-)
The real life pause sounds like a Twilight Zone episode.😊
I miss the Twilight Zone. That was a great show. I have seen them lately all remastered and they were awesome.
It's so hot here in Bama after working my bees I have to change underwear. All I wear under my suit is my underwater. I have a Hillco Featherweight suit.
Is that a full suit? We southern beekeeper deserve a prize or something.
@@BugFarmerBees not full suit, just jacket and pants. I wear what my work load that day requires.
HAHAHAH you had a "Presidential moment"
I didn't think many people would pick up on that. ;-)
Shame about the Army Hive.
They will return :-)
@@BugFarmerBees This summer or next spring?
