This building a shelter is like quilting starts with a piece of material to form a beautiful piece of art minus all muscle works- watching you guys work makes my legs cramps and every thread of muscles aches 🤣🤣🤣 but ❤❤❤ to watch the finished beauty of the product.
Those ladders... after the fourth climb my back would say “no more.” No knees, no back from accident in the Air Force 40+ yrs ago. But I do enjoy watching others work. My vicarious life.
Thank you for the video. I’m building mine kind of like this. Except I’m just gonna use really long 2x10s instead of those high dollar I Joist. I don’t mind if the floor has a little bow in it for the money I’ll save.
I ended up using web floor trusses. So heavy, but was able to build them myself. If I could do it again I would definitely spend a few extra dollars for the I joists. Lol. Ty.
Ken have you ever considered building the walls for the ground floor. Leave them flat then build the floor deck and second floor walls and roof on those walls. Then using a crane to lift the top off while you lift the walls. Then put the floor deck and second floor back on top. Very nice work by the way.
I look forward to all your videos I really admire how you work I try to work with you work ethic pretty impressive I saw you said your 66 looks like you out work most 30 yr olds 👍🏻
Ken, I need your help please. How do you line up those roof trusses? I'm building a Gambrel shed 9x18 and when I line up those roof trusses center, the 4 sides are off. like if you put your sheating on some trusses are 1/8 to 1/4 inch off and won't touch the sheating. Do you use a straight leveler make sure each side is touching the leveler by shimming?
The first 3 things that come to mind are. 1. Is the floor level both directions. 2. On the top of the wall are the measurements the same diagonally corner to corner. 3. Are the trusses plumb and spaced equally. Hope it works out for you.
Question, I am building a similar structure. I was wondering if you had a way to put in eave vents/ridge vent. I did not see them on your structure and just curious if you had any or determined it was not needed.
Pump jacks are awesome for that kind of work, you set up picks to get you across, send sheets up in the laddervator and save your knees...Plus, when you're roofing, especially the starters, up till you need the roof jacks, you can store the bundles on the pick too...They take a while to set up. but once they're up, they're work savers...Stay safe!
Stunning and beautiful garage 👍🏻 great building technique. Lovely views there! I only have one qualm. And that is your use of nails 4 inches apart on the roof. While too much is not a bad thing. Seems a bit wasteful and unessential. A single nail every 15-20 inches would be fine. 👍🏻

2x10’s are great. A couple posts and a carrying beam and you’re all set. Hope your project goes well.

Awesome view!!!
Yes it’s beautiful
Do you have to drill holes through knee wall top plate, or anywhere? For air to get through.thks
Yes
Nice Work!
Thanks for watching

The bottom of the rafter could be kicked out a couple inches for airflow.
Wouldn't catch me up there, even tethered in as you were.
Haha
all family members are handyman !
Yes!
Do you ice and water shield, the adhesive membrane, peel and stick
No. We did go the extra mile with the triflex instead of felt paper. The metal roofing will eliminate any possibility of leaks.
Hey how much does that special latter cost and what is it called
The parts to make it were around $400
I’m looking to do something like this myself, do you have the floor plans or the measurements?
Sorry we don’t. We just sketch on paper the layout
About how much you spend in material?
Materials are usually about half the project
Yeah beautiful view
Yes it is

Thanks good input. I used to own some about 20 years ago, they are nice.

Now that's not OSHA approved riding the ladder , 😆 I'm guilty to
Haha
Best part is the Ducks.
Haha
how do you vent a gambrel?
With foam chutes
❤👍 Serbia
Thank you
why leave the ridge open. vent?
Yes the entire ridge will be vented under the metal roofing.
Just wondering about Video 5
I took video 5 off and remixed it with number 6. I probably should have called this one number 5
Thanks Ken, I thought maybe I had missed one. Enjoying your videos.
Thanks. I have another coming out in the morning. I named it number 5. :)
Nice video 👍
Thanks!
