- 🌞 Today's video is all about creating a layered art journal background with PanPastels. I recently started using PanPastels again after they have been laying in the cupboard for months. Usually I use them in my sketchbook. In my art journal I wanted to try out some new ways of using them and I am going to make a textured background and a grungy spread in this video. I am using the Pastels not only dry, I will work with them wet, with Gesso and also Gel Medium.

I've never used my Panpastels with water, but it's actually a good idea if you let them dry completely afterwards like you said. In some pans I have some loose powder, so great to use the pigments in this way. I loved to watch it, thank you Susanne!

Well, Susanne, you know by now that I am a fan, but this spread, oh, my God, it was one of my favourites! I also love to work on my handmade journals (with papers that belonged to my father... he finally gave them to me😂) and I loved everything about this spread!
And by the way, I never forget to wash my brushes, but I forget them in the water many, many times 😂😂😂

Is there a certain brush that should be used for water paints?
I just use any brush I have. For watercolor I have non expensive watercolor brushes.
