I love how the melody sounds like someone humming a tune because they forgot the lyrics. Peter's melodies are SINGABLE--and so are his solos. That adds weight and longevity to each note that he plays--each dynamically, confident, and intentional note that he plays. That's control! By the way, just because it's singable doesn't mean it's easy to replicate. Chops involve more than the speed of the hands and fingers.
@@nadtorus tone without question, but I feel like that's what people usually discuss about Pete B. How about, in addition to tone--we talk about projection? No matter what band outfit or room Peter Bernstein plays in, you can hear his sound CLEARLY. That goes beyond tone and THAT is challenging to do in my opinion.

Ill never forget being at smalls and me being perplexed by an ultra modern group and trying to recognize a tune. You read my face and leaned over and whispered "in your own sweet way". I could only hear it after you told me.
