Hi. I hate seeing birds in tiny cages with wire floors. They deserve so much more. I try to provide interest and an environment where they can exhibit natural behaviour.
I really love your setup for them. They have so much enrichment and it looks so clean. I have 5 quails (1 male and 4 females) and I adore them. I love when my male crows, I’m closest with him but I love my females too.
Thank you so much. I started way back with a boy and four girls. My original boy Quentin is now 6. A good age. He has two ladies which at his age is more than enough. Good luck with your co year. Mags.
It is a sweet video and you obviously care for the quails a great deal giving them names and cleaning their cages daily. I've only seen quail in the wild (I hike the California trails) and they are so beautiful to watch running and landing from flying. It does sadden me to see quail or any birds in cages though, but you are keeping them safe from predators and even from themselves. They look happy and healthy. Sweet video.
Hi. The more space the better I think. These coturnix quail wouldn’t survive long outside. Everything would have them, from rats and cats to dogs, foxes and larger birds. I aim to provide as stimulating environment as possible.
Love the video! I’m looking after a friend’s quails at the moment and found this while I was looking for good tips and info. Want to make sure they’re all nice and happy!
Subscribed! We really love your inspiring video and the quails are so adorable. We like your setup too and we are on the way buying some accessories for our little quails. Recently, we hatched some quail eggs and made a short video on it. Thank you so much!
çok tatlı çok güzeller bunlar bıldırcın herhalde kümesi yuvaları muntazam sizin çabanızla olmuş herşey elinize emeğinize sağlık türkiyeden sevgiler selamlar😀
Thank you. Yes, I will have to make a video showing that. Basically I skim the poo off the surface daily and replace every couple of months. Thanks for watching. Mags
My intention was to have the cage as a single habitat for all the quail but boys don't always co-exist well together so I had to half it. That said, they are still very happy. I think enrichment is the key. Give them lots of interest.
thank you. they do seem chirpy and happy. very active guys and girls. I did not realize how talkative they are. I suppose because they are mainly ground dwellers and have to communicate through the grasses. thank you for sharing and have a blessed day. @@mygardenanddinosaurs
HI there youtuber, I was watching quail video and at the end you played a lovely song. Could you can provide the name of the song and who singing please. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much it just a sweet song. I upload to my Spotify and played all the time . Keep making more videos and play some cool songs. One a agian thank you .
Hi Fiona. Boy do you get eggs. They can and do lay more than one egg per day. Not always but fairly frequently. I have eggs coming out my ears so to speak. They are cute little potatoes but aren’t as domesticated as chickens so def have a wild streak. They are renowned for seemingly random acts of violence against one another. Mine have pretty much lived in harmony with a couple of exceptions. Good news is that they are pretty hardy and seem to recover from quite nasty pecking injuries really well. All the best. Mags
how do you keep the cage sooooo clean? Haha I heard they are messy and poops everywhere. I wonder if they could be trained like hamsters and rabbits to only poo on specific places?
They are little poo monsters. I use a hemp bedding called aubichick. It really dries out poos and they disintegrate. It means the quail don’t suffer with poo balls on their toes. I skim the surface most days and replace as needed but the aubichick really makes it easier and much less smelly. I wish you could toilet train them though 🥴
Hi there. I use a hemp bedding. The brand is Aubichick but any hemp horse bedding would also do. It is dust free and absorbs the moisture out of poops so they just disintegrate so you don't get poo balls on the quail's feet.
Hi there. The camera is a Reolink. I think my particular one is an old model and they do a few new ones. Their website will have info. All the best. Mags.
Hiya. I buy aviary sand which I’d designed for budgie and parrot cages. It has tiny pieces of grit and oyster shell included in it. I get it through Amazon.
Thank you. The older girls were laying up to a month ago but have stopped now that the days are shorter. They’ll start up again next year although not with the frequency of the young girls.
What a beautiful setup. I am taking a lot of inspiration!
Thank you. I’m so glad you find it useful.
Your setup is soothing to me, im sure they love it!
Thank you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. Mags
Very nice, great example of well cared for quail. Thank you for sharing.
Many thanks.
Great looking birds! Nice setup
Thank you kindly
Enfin une vidéo qui ne fait pas les louanges de l'élevage en clapier à 60 oiseaux par m2!! Merci! 😊

Glad you like it. I just want to make sure they have as good an environment as possible.
They are actually cute little things ❤ Mags. Quentin needs a hard hat 😢. Have a super week Mags, Ali 🇨🇦
Lol he definitely does. Spousal abuse !!!
priceless picture in my head. lol.
Loved your arrangements
Thank you.
Great setup and very helpful, thanks 🙏 one question; what is the ground material? Obi check ???
Hello and thanks. The bedding is called Aubichick. It is a fine, dust extracted hemp bedding. The quail - and my chickens - love it.

Beautiful set up! Can you show how you clean it and how often?
Thank you. Yes, I will have to make a video showing that. Basically I skim the poo off the surface daily and replace every couple of months. Thanks for watching. Mags
thank you. nice to know Curly is happier. Does this difference in cage size seem to bother the older quail? mainly appetite or territory.

Unlike the bobwhite, these guys are sweet and friendly. Love them. Very nice setup.
Many thanks.
Oooo, you’re tempting me, Mags! They’re very sweet. Do you get many eggs?

@@mygardenanddinosaurs I wonder if I could talk Kenny into it🤔. ….
This looks like a really nice environment. What about water?
Thanks. I use rabbit water bottles hung on the outside of the run to water the quail.
I like your set-up, do the older hens still lay eggs?
Can you mention costs in a video please? How much to feed them etc how frequently to clean them out?
Will do, next time. Thanks for your input. Mags
Probably a daft question, but what happens if they eat the hemp bedding, is it safe?
It’s not daft really. I have never had a quail eat the bedding. I’m sure little bits might be consumed if stuck to food but nothing significant.

is 50 litres big enough or do you reckon 100 litre container is better ( both can fit all the things in your video )
I would say, the bigger, the better. Give them as much room as you can, for their overall wellbeing. Thanks for watching. Mags
I'm new to raising quail. What is the litter called your using?
Hi there. I use a hemp bedding. The brand is Aubichick but any hemp horse bedding would also do. It is dust free and absorbs the moisture out of poops so they just disintegrate so you don't get poo balls on the quail's feet.
😊thank you. I love this setup
What camera are you using to watch your quail? By chance do you jave a link for it?
Hi there. The camera is a Reolink. I think my particular one is an old model and they do a few new ones. Their website will have info. All the best. Mags.
What sand do you use
Hiya. I buy aviary sand which I’d designed for budgie and parrot cages. It has tiny pieces of grit and oyster shell included in it. I get it through Amazon.

Hi there were can I get some Quails from for my aviary thanks 🐔🐓🐓🐔
Are you in the uk or somewhere else? I would suggest you join some quail keeping groups on Facebook and see if anyone there can help.
how is there not droppings all over unless u are cleaning it every hour on the hour!
I skim poos off the surface every day and top up when needed. Any poos I miss dries up and breaks down in the Aubichick hemp bedding.
Where is the water?
I use rabbit water bottle, hung on the outside of the run.
😊
Thanks
