If I had a nickel for every time JG9 post a dumb decisions video from one game, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Brandon Staley did the exact same thing during the Chargers versus raiders game at the end of the 2021 season, and it was a scenario where both teams could’ve made the playoffs with a tie. That timeout allowed the Raiders to win on a field goal in overtime, and the Chargers got eliminated. I’m surprised that was never given a dumb decisions treatment.
On top of that, the Chargers would have been the 6 seed regardless of whether they tied or won. The Raiders were the only one that had something to gain, as they would be the 5 seed with a win and the 7 seed with a tie. That was such an unnecessary move by Staley
Payton definitely mismanaged his timeouts and paid for it, especially considering how much more the Bengals needed a win. With that said, claiming that he cost them a playoff spot is a bit much. Don't forget that his Broncos host a Chiefs side with nothing for which to play in Week 18 because the AFC's road to Super Bowl LIX is already going through Kansas City, Mo. anyway.
An AF[C] West team screwing t[h]emselves out of a pl[a]yoff spot by not taking a tie and calling a timeout unnecessa[r]ily, givin[g] the opposing AFC t[e]am a shot at winning it? Whe[r]e have I heard that [s]tory before? Edit: Ah, I see you DID mention that game. Though, I'm not sure the Raiders WERE going to kick the FG. If they were, I feel they would have moved with a bit more urgency and not called consecutive runs while not in FG range. The timeout forced them to think about their next move because not ending the game there meant placing their faith in the Chargers who, by calling timeout, sowed doubt.
I think he called Timeout because of how they were driving the ball at that time if they scored the game was over, and obviously the defense needed to regroup. But to call two consecutive timeouts was pretty stupid. As a tie still wins them the game because they clinch a playoff birth.
Oh, great! Because the Broncos lost, as many as 3 teams will be rooting for the Chiefs next week when just about nobody outside the I-435 loop is doing so.
The amazing thing I find about this scenario is that it directly involves three one-time AFL West teams: Denver and Kansas City (both still in the AFL West) and Cincinnati (originally in the AFL West). It’s one reason why I maintain that the merger wasn’t such a good idea.
I was watching this in fan fest for IIHF World juniors in Ottawa. That was a wild finish with this game but both coaches did the dummy each other. Week 18 is NFL’s wet dream
It'll be a wild scene for sure if they force all these games to 4:30. It'll be a scramble fir the 7th seed while the Ravens and Steelers are still dueling in important games for the AFC North. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Pit vs Cincinnati and Cleveland vs Baltimore on Saturday.
Sean Payton himself debunked that during his postgame news conference, when he acknowledged the tie as his reason for settling for the extra point (instead of the two-point conversion) at the end of regulation. Of course, that makes his calling of both timeouts in overtime all the more inexplicable. The Bengals made him pay for that by scoring, not the field goal he was expecting, but the touchdown he was not expecting.
Do you think it’s possible Payton did not understand that if the bengals kicked a field goal on the 2nd possession that the game was over. Talk about a dumb decision
Gotta be honest I quit watching the NFL a long time ago, and I thought they did away with sudden death over time. They've changed all the rules to turn it into Pansy ball long ago so I quit watching.
@@deadend1041 I mean they kind of did away with Sudden Death and made OT rules weird as shit. I mean now you have Regular season OT rules and Playoff OT rules(which the only difference should be tie vs no tie). So if you get a TD on your first possession in regular season it's over, but in playoffs both teams STILL get a possession.
There was another potential dumb decision by Sean Payton in OT. With just over two minutes left the broncos threw the ball on third and long and because it fell incomplete it stopped the clock North of the two minute warning and time wasn’t an issue for the Bengals when they got the ball back.
I watched the game on Spanish free tv an even they where surprised that the Broncos took a timeout with 3 minutes in OT plus there's a 2 minute warning in OT too so it made even less sense and he didn't even keep a timeout either.
I hate when teams finish 9-7 after starting out 9-5. The Broncos are doing everything they can to do just that along with trying to kick themselves out of the playoffs.
I gotta disagree with you on this one. Ill never hate on a coach for doing what he can to win the game unless its a Staley situation from a few years ago where the other team is literally willing to tie with you and it benefits everyone

0:57 “Kissing your sister is more than okay on this day” just a wild line OOC
LMAO 😂
Reminds me of a contestant on Hell's Kitchen: "Ties are like kissing your sister"
@@matthewshortle5274 Jared Bobkin from Season 15 said it. I remember it now.

Even weirder was that game a couple weeks ago where he posted one video on BOTH teams.

I see what you did there with your bracketology. Well played.
This game was just dumb in general lol.
This game was drunk.

Correct, the first timeout call was not dumb.
It'd be kinda funny if KC played their starters to spite Denver. Can you imagine if Cincinnati actually clinches?
Funny thing is, Cincy winning out could actually still result in them missing the playoffs if the Colts win out.
KC might play their starters for a little bit . If they don’t they’ll go 3 1/2 weeks without playing

aka Sean Payton saves Zach Taylor's job
aka I hate my life
Both coaches made totally idiotic clock management mistakes. Both should be fired.
Maybe Sean Payton lost the magic that he had in New Orleans.
Broncos just returned the favor. The Bengals mismanaged their last two minutes in regulation time, so Denver decided to play fair (or dumb).
Hey you were only supposed to do this for the Bengals and not my Broncos :(

Just waiting for 1 of these jokes to go to Buffalo and lose 30 something to 10
We got two Dumb Decisions in one game. Has This ever happened before?
Yes, NFC Divisional Game, Tampa Bay at Detroit. Same video though.
ooh a twofer
Bengals had to win that game! RATINGS for the next weeks game dictates that! It's all scripted, when you all going to see it?
Who else is sick of the woke agenda on the endzones.... choose love.... ugh
