The story according to KISS back in the day was during the recording of this record, they heard that the biggest artist of the day (Brooks) was a huge KISS fan. So Gene and Paul reached out to see if he was interested which was an immediate "yes" under one condition, Garth asked if KISS would record the track with him. It was the one track they played on and according to Gene, they recorded it in 2 takes, using the first and said that Brooks was one of the most respectful, talented and well prepared musicians he's ever worked with and this track was one of his favorite recording sessions ever. I'm a fan of music, with Rock as my primary favorite but we all have to realize that rock and country are rooted in blues and are just variations of the same theme, especially now.

Wow...hearing this so many years later the evidence is clear: Garth really nailed the vocal. Great song! Back when Alive II came out I listened to that version over and over and over again. It's just "one of those songs" that is simply awesome.
KISS was a huge influence on Garth. Thats one of the reasons why his live shows are freaking awesome. This is one of the best KISS songs ever and Peter Criss is perfect on it. The studio version of this is flawless and Garth does it big time justice. Love it!

Growing up in the early 90s Garth Brooks was my first Hero in music and later getting into Rock/metal Kiss became one of my favorites so this is definitely a treat hearing this
I've heard and seen many artist/bands cover this tune studio and live, and no one, absolutely no one, touches Peter Criss' voice. But, I truly seeing how much love has been given to this tune. All these artists rock. R&R people!

....this is a really good collaboration....I am playing in a band in Albuquerque and we wanted to a KISS song that goes over in any bar and this totally fits the bill...I am a hard core KISS fan (first show Dec 1st, 1978)....and as a guitarist this song is just fun to play....Garth has a great voice for this song...he and Paul sound great together.... This is one of their best songs. Compositionally it flows, the changes work together, and it's complete. So many of their songs sound like pieces of separate songs put together, and they just don't work.

I think Garth Brooks can pretty much nail any song he chooses to sing, but this was perfect. And Paul's harmonizing with him was outstanding as well.
