as a lebanese, i'm humbled by you visiting and appreciating our country, thank you for coming here despite these tough times and i hope everyone was as accomodating as we generally are.
Was invited to visit your country several years ago, as an European i was slightly anxious but was proved completely wrong. Travelled around and was completely overwhelmed by the warm welcome I was afforded, I stayed with friends and learnt so much about your culture. One of my special memories for a beautiful country and people’s, thank you Lebanon.
Indonesian here, and we have friends under the UN peacekeepers right now in the borders of Lebanon and Israel, and we have been getting disheartening stories. Wishing you and your family are safe Alif , and also for everyone in the region for that matter.
I'm loving the Lebanese series. It's such a beautiful place with people like no other place. There's just such a strong sense of love for their families, neighbors, and country. Even through a massive economic crisis, they are still living their lives with hope.
What nonsense!! Love for thy neighbour 😅.. Palestinian fellas are literally begging the Lebanese government to accept refugees fleeing , the government said Fuk off.. what nonsense!!
@soccergirl20k I would love to, but unfortunately, I have a serious disease called Vasculitis stage Churg-strauss syndrome that I'm on chemo for, so travel is not an option for me at the moment. Maybe someday, though, I'll get to see it through my own eyes.
@itsomarz9337 thank you so much. Sending live from Chicago in the US ❤️

Yes, it would be nice if he talked about other countries he hasn't covered. Like the country of Israel. But since he previously labeled that country Palestine and has wiped that country and their peoples from his more recent maps, it seems doubtful he would go there in person and be respectful at the same time.
Seriously Sonny I love your posts. You have a huge talent for narrating your videos. Giving us a great teaching of other cultures. You bring humor into it and your guides and restaurant owners laugh with you. You bring something special to the table. I am engrossed in the cultures of others and in your engagement with so many of the people and countries you visit. You found your nitch and you represent it well. I look forward to more videos.
The Restaurateurs in this episode were wildly welcoming. I mean you're going to their home and restaurant so they are like professional hosts but man made me want to visit.
The shirtless wonder Toufic is one of the best characters on any episode of this show. The man didn't speak much but exuded pure manly charisma every second he was on screen.
9:20 To be clear for those who don't know these drinks, it's in the same "family" as ouzo, which is why it turns milky-white when mixed with water (or melting ice): it's a pomace brandy (i.e. a spirit made by distilling the wine-making left-overs - the _pomace_ - such as the fermented grape-skins and all the detritus from the crushed grapes settling down in the fermentation tanks, and which are rich in alcohol) that is flavoured with aniseed; what distinguished the various pomace brandies is how the flavouring happens, and what flavourings are allowed to be used, but that's kind of beside the point. The main topic of interest is that, if you hate anise, these are not drinks for you.
P.S.: You *_ALWAYS_* get more-readily drunk when sniffing spirits, not unlike people huffing paint: the inner lining of your nose is coated with a mucous membrane that is full of blood vessels - and in close proximity to your brain. Long story short, it's like snorting alcohol straight into your skull.
My mouth was watering at the snails. I LOVE snails in garlic butter sauce. Here in NZ we are utterly spoiled for seafood. We are going out in the boat this weekend. Schnapper, terakihi, kahawai,…. Yum.yum. Sonny you saw the area just “ before”. Aren’t the local, ordinary, everyday ( for lack of a better nicer word) folk so lovely and friendly? Just kind and funny, open and welcoming. My mouth was watering like crazy this episode. The food looked incredible. I lived in Italy for several months in a little town on the Adriatic. There was a restaurant there owned by a family of fishermen. There was no menu. They just served whatever the catch of the day was. 20 years later, I still feel that it's some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. A friend of mine was a chef staying with them to learn about their food. He was tutoring their daughter in English in exchange. As a result, I was fortunate to eat there a lot. While Lebanon and Italy are very different places, watching you eat with the fishing family was very nostalgic and brought back tons of good memories. Thank you!
Can't believe it all these years I've watched this channel and thought I would love to make the food I see I only now just realised that on the description there is all the recipes from the episode.
I remember back then he only have a few thousand subscribers now its 10m subs congratulations Sonny.. your vids are the best food channel i've watched.. 👍👍 Keep it up
Until recently, I would agree with you. Unfortunately, he has decided to inject politics into his videos and has chosen to assault the people of Israel while he touts fish balls. Try finding the country of Israel on any of the maps he has included in his Lebanon tour videos. He promoted the "country" of Palestine in his first Lebanon video but now won't label that country at all while labeling all of the other surrounding countries. Maybe he'll check out the wonderful foods of Hamas next.
I hated hummus I mean I really just buzzed it until my teacher who is Lebanese made some and brought it in and I had some on one of her traditional chips and I love that kind of hummus now. And what a sweet lady she was I’ll never forget her except for her name lol
