Nah I'm from NY and I thought they should've picked Wayne because it's in New Orleans. Lord Jamar prefers Kendrick over Wayne because he's a conscious MC.
Wayne is suffering from the consequences of the "don't worry about what's in my cup" statement. Wayne ran hiphop in his day, but his music is toxic and has no substance. Plus, he shits on Black culture at all the wrong times. K Dot is better.
I’m glad he said this about Lil Wayne. The SuperBowl is a completely different audience and a family show. You can’t have someone like Wayne headline that show.
Wayne is a legend, of course, but he's not Halftime Show material just because he happens to be from NOLA. He's notoriously unreliable and unprofessional when it comes to showing up to rehearsals, putting in the effort in his sets, or even showing up remotely on time for anything. Plus his drug habits don't help nor his music meshing with the NFL trying to sell to families and the widest mainstream possible to get the biggest hype for numbers and viewership. Kendrick always comes correct for big performances, he had a gigantic year, and people are ignoring the significance of him on the Halftime Show stage during Black History Month which is an enormous positive. It's a bizarre, manufactured controversy to insist that Wayne is owed the Halftime Show just because it happens to be in New Orleans. Yeah they had the Dre show in LA a couple years ago but that was a neat idea since the So-Fi Stadium was brand-new and it was a medley with artists like 50, Em, and Mary J. Blige who aren't even from LA. It was a one-off thing and it was a huge positive with a lot of hype and fanfare especially coming off the COVID lockdowns. This doesn't automatically set some firm precedent that the location of the Super Bowl now entitles a big hometown artist to have first pick to perform at Halftime lol.
The main point is that the #NFL #AppleMusic #RocNation are free to bring whoever they think is good for their brand, their agenda, and the listening pleasure of fans. If the performer is Kendrick Lamar, so be it. However, I don't think it is fair for Lord Jamar to downplay Wayne’s contribution to the game. Lil Wayne is the youngest one out of all the HOTBOYS, but he looks the oldest. Drugs & Lean meesed him up. He doesn't look normal anymore & dresses weird af 💯
Man I'm from New Orleans, and about 10 or more Superbowls were played here, and none of them that I can remember had a New Orleanian perform as the head halftime act, None. I believe the most recent one was the Ravens vs 49ers, when the lights went out, that was Beyonce, the one before that was the Patriots vs the Rams, and that was an R&B group, something 5, and the one before that was Patriots vs Packers, that was James Brown, none were from New Orleans, so I think Wayne & whoever else from New Orleans need to let it go. Just because LA had Dr. Dre a few years back, now every Rapper thinks their city should pick them, but it's not like that
If somebody paid my tax bill im not going to trip because I can't perform on something he's apart of. If i was upset with him the public wouldn't of known. I would talk to him among us only. It could be politics the reason he wasn't chosen. I don't believe it's personal. I say that because he gave me 14 million dollars. I could be wrong I don't know im just going by him helping him before.😂😂😂
In my opinion, Lil Wayne currently lacks three things that I think a music artist needs to have in order to be selected to perform at the Super Bowl: 1) Relevancy. Before this situation took place, no one was talking about Lil Wayne on a mainstream level and he currently has no hit records at the moment that people are raving about or listening to. 2) Universal Appeal. Because he is not relevant on a mainstream level at the moment, he is not going to have any universal appeal. This may be hard for some people to hear, but not everyone is a fan of hip hop, let of Lil Wayne. So, if an event like the Super Bowl is going to have a hip hop artist perform, it needs to be someone that is relevant, has a hit song(s), and someone who people who aren't hip hop fans know of and like a hit song that he/she made. 3) Legacy Act. A music artist may not be relevant or putting out music anymore, but if he/she is a beloved and revered artist who has older songs that's now considered classics or has nostalgic flavor on a universal level, it makes sense to have an artist like that. Lil Wayne was a big artist at one point, but it's obvious that his music has no nostalgic flavor and did not age well, and outside of Louisiana or the Southern region of the U.S., he's not really revered or looked upon at the hip hop legend whose music will live on forever. I can tell that there is a segment of people who look at Lil Wayne like he's their generation's Tupac Shakur. But I suspect that these same people don't realize or are starting to realize that the rest of the world doesn't view Lil Wayne or his music like that. That might explain why these people are so emotional and upset that he wasn't chosen to perform at the Super Bowl.
But the rest of your seliliqu was contradictory. They had snoop ,and Dre lyrics on stage, they had Madonna body on stage ,they have had all the druggies on that stage. So stop.with that B.S

😂😂thank you Jamar... he doesn't even remember his own lyrics
This became a thing due to social engineering. Just like most talking points today.
I say let’s create a new sound. A NEW GENRE. We’ve created every other genre of music. Blues, rock n roll, jazz , rnb, soul! We are the musical genius’!
wayne is WAY past his prime, the recent interviews with his face all bloated up looking like whoopi goldberg are depressing
I agree totally
Art asked one question I didn’t understand. Is Wayne’s music appropriate for the Super Bowl? Is any rappers music appropriate for the Super Bowl? If we’re being honest the answer is no.
🧢
Yes. Watch what happens when “We Gonna Be Alright” comes on.
@@mindbully that’s one song. I’m a hip hop head. I’m not against rappers performing. But that question is a slippery slope. If Wayne isn’t appropriate then neither is Dre, 50 or snoop.
@@viewfromthemancave1092 You asked for a song, I gave you one. Wayne is drug-addicted, horrible live performer. The 3 acts you mentioned are globally popular and have a reach that transcends the Hip-Hop genre. 50 with TV, Dre with product and Snoop with major corporate sponsorships. Billions are at stake. Jay and the NFL know what they’re doing.
@@mindbully you missed it. I know all of that. And I agree. It doesn’t mean their music is appropriate if Wayne’s isn’t.
He can talk about Lil Wayne negative all he wants but he does have over 40 Platinum songs and plenty of platinum albums as well......
All that and it’s still a "no" for the Super Bowl sooooo🤷🏾♀️
Thanks to Jay-Z @@mykindathing9275
Jamar please….Nonone CARES what YOU think….Get out your OWN way and be a MAN of substance!!!🗳️🇺🇸💙
@@lindahudson6826do u even know who this dude is? Lol. He been did everything u just said how many years ago?😂😂😂
Nobody cares
Be real if Wayne performed “Put Me in the Game” that would be 🔥
“I never talked to them boys that sat on them benches
I was in the game on fourth and inches
Coach put me in the game on fourth and inches
And I'ma leave them boys at the line of scrimmage…” - Wayne
Imagine Jay paying off my child support and I'm still mad about the superbowl 🤕
Super Bowl is about ratings, Kendrick tickets are in higher demand than Lil Wayne tickets, it’s simple math
Now that was funny😂😂😂😂
Wayne has a million radio friendly features to choose from.
But Eminem talks about what ????!!! Oh nothing bad for the Whitehouse.....
Yeah Em is very explicit but he has way more positive music than Wayne under his belt facts 💯but this isn't even about him
@Matroshka26 I'm not a mad Eminem fan but he does have commercial family-friendly songs. He even has different lyrics for radio-friendly versions of his explicit songs too!
@@zacharycorr900 Facts 💯 especially the ones about his daughter
if only the whole situation was as simple as jamar says it is 😂😂
Lmao 😂 well said my guy
