Today we check out a really cool and unusal playing style - slapping on the guitar! I explain how my slapping technique works, show you the 3 key ingredients you need and how all that works in a practical context. Tabs & Guitar Pro files online here: www.patreon.com/bernth
I’ve been practicing slapping with a flick of first two fingers for no particular reason other than I love the percussive sound and feel, and hoped I would be ably to use it in my playing , so you can’t imagine How much I love this lesson, l will be watching it again and again so thank you thank you thank you! I am a senior guitarplayer that mostly play the blues and some country, but every time i check your Chanel i Always fine somerhing new to play, you inspires the hell out of me...my lord, you got some moves..thanks för sharing//best regards//Lasse from🇸🇪
You are one of the best guitar teacher on YT. Very good topics, very good explanation with clearly visible understadable multi-angle videos. Nad tabs. What else could we want? Thank you for your work!
Oh and I almost forgot I love your guitar can I have it? And also can you give us tips about the height of the strings on the guitar? And what about Pitch bends with the tremolo bar and from a scale from 1 to 10 what do you give the Floyd Rose Locking System on keeping the guitar in tune? And also what about Palm harmonics?
Awesome man! I'm finally slapping because of this lesson! I just gotta perfect it a bit with more practice! Now i want to learn more pattern combinations!
Gotta say this was a pretty cool one. You dont really see this being approached at all and is a pretty cool thing to have in the arsenal....a part of the arsenal I apparently suck at for the time being lol. We had a show and one of the openers kinda did everything different and the lead guitar was actually a 6 string bass with all the effects of the guitar and the guitar was an 8 string played somewhat clean but bit muddy. But played slap style ...it actually sounded surprisingly badass. Needless to say they were huge Primus fans. But definitely one the most memorable bands we played with
Hello friend. Love your playing and style. I listen to you on Apple Music. Very skilled you are. Just some feedback... It seems like every video of yours is geared more towards intermediate and solid players already. Would you be able to make some ABSOLUTE beginner type videos. For those who are around the 1 year mark of playing... Slow things down. Do very very simple and slow things??? Just an idea to maybe capture more audience. Cheers my friend. :)
Wow. I came here thinking I wouldn't be able to pull it off but I'm actually getting the hang of it. And it's not the technique with my thumb or dead notes that are giving me trouble, I got that down perfectly; but rather popping the other strings with my other fingers.
I can't get all the technique except the slap bass string...I barely get a legible tone, how do you get. the slap to "sound" clear, are your strings higher? cause my action is pretty low and I'm having getting a good slap..
Hey, this is practical example I wrote for this lesson - it's always important for me to demonstrate the techniques or theory approaches we discuss that way :)

If I try to slap, the sound is more like a fret buzz noise. Your slapping is like you don’t touch the frets. What I’m doing wrong?
Hi, my guitar has FIVE micros and pretty little space for my thumb to slap. How do I deal with this?
get bASS
trying to learn to slap my 8 string but tye string hits the last fret and makes a sound like hitting two knifes together
