Hey Mr . Berneth I'm working on the solo of pyscosocial by slipknot and I'm frustrated because I mess up in the middle, I'll start working with your exercise to improve . Thanks , hope I get it perfect sensi
At some point I feel like this guy is connected to my brain even without talking to him in person. He almost CLEARS EVERY part of things that is bugging me a lot of time and the practice techniques are so effective and fun to add in the routine. A pure quality content! Thanks!
This helped so much! Me and kids I know in my middle school that play guitar watch your videos. I thought I'd let you know because your are inspiring kids in my town to play, and we all thank you for that! Great lesson by the way!
I think that these types of tutorials are what TH-cam needs for newer guitar players! He explains very clearly and shows the techniques and steps to do and how to do them. Thanks for the video man, it helps a ton for learning guitar!
Genuinely useful and practical lesson as usual. I've played for over 20 years, and this TH-cam channel provides some of the best exercises to increase and/or maintain any skill level. The techniques shown on this channel can be used in ANY genre of music.
I am so jealous and respect you guys who play fast alternate picking! I play guitar for 18 years and i've practice ALOT, but i can't get my alternate picking above 135-140 bpm... I really consider trying your patreon lesson to see if it's gonna make a difference! And you're such an enjoyable person to look to. You have a very positive energy!
I will need to slow this one waaaaay d oil wn to start. My old brain sometimes goes slower than my fingers. And that isn't saying much. But, after trying some of these workouts I have noticed that my playing is getting better. Thanks again as always Bernth!!!! YAARRRGGGGGG!!!!!
You're really simply great teacher, I,ve wasted ten years on practicing guitar in a worng tacnque, but now after substribe to ur channel it really helped me out kick away my frustration thnk u so much Bernth 👍👍👍👍👍
I do a variation on this exercise. Where you shift down a half step after every run, I change mode. I start with the ionian shape like you do, then I do myxolydian, dorian, aeolian, phrygian, locrian, lydian, ionian, ... Actually, the pattern shifts one string up each time. And after 7 iterations, I have descended half a step as well.
This is a fantastic exercise and really helps with organising your downward/upward pickslanting given that each string change comes on an upstroke, then a down stroke etc
Cool vid Bernth. I've just come looking for something to help me speed up/control the speed of my picking hand and while drilling this pattern I noticed a distinct correlation between the speed, accuracy and economy of motion compared to the position of my hand relative to the string I'm playing. I'm guilty of 'reaching' for strings instead of moving my picking hand anchor, and now I see that the further I reach, the less economy of motion I have, which leads to slower and less accurate picking. So came back to watch your vid and see that you reposition your hand for each string - not a revelation in itself, but it confirms to me how important it is to have my picking hand in the correct place for the string I'm playing in order to get the best results from the least effort. Thanks man! I have something very tangible to work on....
Brrroooo what an excellent timing. Currently learning DT's The Best of Times solo and there are like 3 parts of this fast alt picking in the solo which is like LITERALLY the problem I'm struggling with right now
Man you bringing so much awesome stuff every week. I was following your shread course and every week can’t help to try your youtube lesson. Every single one awesome.
I had to start out at step dad speed, 50 bpm lol. worked my way up to 120 and my hand feels like its about to fall off. 200BPM just seems unreal to me right now lol
i learned that by learning to play songs like nuclear assault - emergency or testament - apocalyptic city, download them and slow them down at like 80% and then increase the pseed.
Just adding this to the list. I have been playing for years. This is really hard to perfect. It’s on my to do list as of now. I gave a go last night for 30 minutes. Just have to be patient with myself.
Hardest part was feeling the 16th notes, whilst playing not 8 notes, but 7 notes per string. Kind of like that one exercise where you play 4 notes per string, alternating between 2 strings, but feel it in triplets.
Man, at 3:35 is where I fall out with my shitty $350 guitar from the 1980s. I feel like if I had an extremely playable guitar with killer action all these years I could at least run through an entire scale at 1/16th notes.
I just discovered your TH-cam channel and immediately subscribed to it! You are doing a very, very good job! What kind of spectacular guitar are you playing there?
Bernth - Please could you do a video about how to hold a pick. I've always suffered with my pick slipping at faster speeds. I've tried so many ideas, picks, tutorials and still have never found the right technique to keep the pick in a consistent position. You're my last hope in fixing this! 🙌♥️
Hey Bernth I love your videos and learn a lot but can you do more theory videos? I feel like a lot of channels focus on technique and brush over theory too quick. You generally explain your theory in a way that answers all my questions so I’d love some more of that. Thanks!
Download the video play-alongs, tabs and guitar pro files for this lesson here: www.patreon.com/bernth - happy practicing! :)

Hi Bernth, what guitar pick do you like to use? Is that a jazz iii?
July 8th 140 pick starts to slip and all hell breaks loose.
I considered myself an intermediate player. I watched this video and I no longer consider myself an intermediate player. Hello beginners I'm back!

Congrats.. Me too bro played 8 hours per day.. I can fast lol
Congratulations, that's what happens when somebody practice 40 hours a day ;)
I wonder if Jack is better than Aku at sweeping on the guitar
