For the English 👉🏾 I’ll be reintroducing some 🏴 content starting tomorrow in between the 🇩🇪 coverage 👍🏾 My heart lies in Germany but that’s not to say I don’t enjoy ALL football 😊⚽️ …and living here it would be stupid not to show the Germans there is still SOME life left in our atmospheres…
Glad you mentioned FC Magdeburg, I’m an American planning on going to my first German Fußball match for a Magdeburg home game in hopefully April or May! Been to Germany before but was never able to attend a game and it’s a bucket list item for me. I keep track of the top three leagues regularly. Wish I could attend more.
@ when you do your Magdeburg video it would be amazing if your could give look around where everything’s at in the stadium and around it, especially the club shop 🙏🏻 which I think you do a solid job of already. Thank you!
I appreciate that it would be too long for a comment, and so perhaps could you please do a video ranking all the atmospheres you've been to? Love your content!
Cheers mate! I’d have to think about that one 😅 so I’m hoping to get to every Bundesliga stadium by the end of the season - probably best to do that video then 😉
Awesome channel! I believe you will enjoy Eintracht-just be cautious in Frankfurt, as it can be a bit rough, especially around the main train station. The next day, SV Wehen Wiesbaden will be playing nearby. I’m not really recommending it, as the stadium likely won’t even be half full. In the future you might consider heading to Munich to watch 1860 Munich in the 3rd League and experience the historic Grünwalder Stadion.
Hey thanks for the advice & kind words! 😊 I’ll be back at the Ruhrstadion the day afterwards but hoping to have a look around some of the smaller clubs/stadiums near Frankfurt before the game and possibly the day before on the Thurs 👍🏾
@@RysFootyParadise Bochum is definitely the better choice! 😀 If you have the time, consider visiting Kickers Offenbach’s “Stadion am Bieberer Berg,” which isn’t too far away. Although they currently play in the fourth tier and there are now worlds between them and Eintracht Frankfurt in recent history, their storied rivalry dates back to the 1970s. There’s also the very small ground of FSV Frankfurt 1899 if you’re interested in exploring more of the local football scene.
Watching this a good while after you did the video. Had to rub it in st pauli winning 1 nil away. Be lucky to get such a result on first game back after the break though.
Bochum's game against the Union Berlin was a turning point for the team getting a draw with only 10 players on the pitch and they will win the next game and get their first win. 😀
It's almost as if too much depends on the Heidenheim game for Bochum. If they lose that, who can they possibly catch then? Thankfully, Heidenheim aren't exactly on a good run either, and they have a game in the Europa Conference League tonight, which they'll have to focus on first. I do believe that Bochum's first win of the season will come on Sunday, but as I say there's also a potential danger here, and players' nerves could be affected too. After all it is a six pointer. Glück auf!
Elversberg could be also interesting for you, as Elversberg is just part of a city called Spiesen-Elversberg with 12.000 inhabitants in the middle of nowhere in Saarland, the smallest federal state which is not a City (like Bremen, Berlin, Hamburg). The stadium has 10.000 seats, so nearly everyone could go and watch. They are some kind of sponsored (their chairman became CEO of a pharma company and now sponsors the club), but still quite popular and highly regarded for its achievements.
Here is my take about Drewes, as a Bochum fan. Yes, he was overly dramatic, but if I were him, I’d get off the pitch too. The ref should have ended the game earlier. The question is not about “how hurt” Drewes was. That is not the point. Nothing should be thrown at anyone, period. 3 Points for Bochum. If Union fans want to be mad, blame the guy that threw the lighter. Cheers mate and happy holidays.
Try HSV-"Groiter" Fürth lol Dortmund is really going down since they threw the title away vs mainz...but i agree with your prediction, it will get worse. They wont reach Champions League. Nice Video.
From what I've heard, Bochum's goalkeeper Patrick Drewes was hit by a lighter. I hate nothing more than time wasting by goalkeepers in order to preserve one or three points, but I guess even a lighter can cause serious injuries on your head depending on the acceleration, not to mention that it's a no-no to throw objects, especially hard ones, towards a player regardless whether it's a goal kick or a corner. Oliver Kahn once got hit by a golf ball in Freiburg (instead of the usual bananas) in the year 2000 and his face was horribly bleeding right afterwards. This made him freaking out once more instead of going to the ground just as we knew him as a goalie. I think he would have battered the guy who threw the ball. But goalies from the 90s mostly were a different breed, as you once said. As happy as I am that you've discovered German football and seem to be fascinated, I'd also appreciate to see a video about an English or even a cracking Welsh fixture (thinking of the Welsh derby Swansea vs Cardiff or even the small clubs playing in the Cymru Premier) here and there again :) You can still come back to Germany anytime you want to (just in case Melissa should not be mad at you leaving home and spending a few days in Germany every few weeks, haha)!
I think you should head up north if you want to add a bit to the atmosphere argument for England. Sunderland and the mags are a good couple to highlight
I mean i am really not much of a Bochum Fan but i still think this is an unbiased oppinion. Bochum still have a lot of fight in them. For how the season went there is still a very good moral. Last match against Union really showed that. Beeing dead last playing 70min with 10 men away and rescuing at least a point is something that shows a lot. But they really have their back behind the wall. Bochum lack the qualitiy in the squad. They are fighting for 16th spot to somehow still have a chance to stay in the league. Hoffenheim has way more qualitiy in the squad, Heidenheim will get their 35 to 40 points once their european run is over. So the bottom 3 are on their own back there. If the last years have shown anything than it is that fight can take you a long way in the Bundesliga but in the end you do need some quality football wise and just fight wont do it. The squad is the worst qualitywise for at least 4 years and Bochum allready overperformed their quality 2 times in a row. If they can't do something in the winter transfer wise they are probably cooked.
For Greuther Fürth, „Groyter Firt“ should get you close to the proper pronunciation. iirc they are a fusion of „Vestenbergsgreuth“ and „Spielvereinigung Fürth“. Both places, Vestenbergsgreuth and the significantly bigger Fürth are near(-ish) Nuremberg. In the 1980s, Vestenbergsgreuth surprised Bayern München in the Cup, iirc winning on a penatly shootout or something similar. A few years later, iirc Fürth had to default, but they were saved by the Team fusion.
7:30 uuuuuh…. Careful, lad… Mainz is the state capital of Rhineland-Palantinate, and on the left bank of the Rhine, opposite of the river mouth of the smaller Main river (and opposite of Hessen‘s state capital, Wiesbaden). And it‘s around 30 miles to the west of Frankfurt - or, well, the people of Mainz insist that Frankfurt is around 30 miles to the east of Mainz… it is indeed a derby nowadays, Mainz 05 only made it to the top tier in 2004 (I think you might have heard of their coach at the time… one „Juergen Klopp“), whereas Eintracht was a founding member of Bundesliga in 1963.
Haha yesss I watched the video Bundesliga put up a few months ago on Klopp’s struggle to finally get them promoted. Hoping to get to a stadium tour there
