This means, if you back into a corner and flick back and forth, you can basically indefinitely hold him back provided you read his movements well (which is mostly random chance unless you already know the maze really well, which is unlikely). This does waste daylight and make no progress. If you want to draw him in predictably, leave a side unwatched and be ready to turn to it. Legs doesn't much care about running in this mode, which is signalled by the intro message that tells you to run. As you lose light with time, and with the doubled objective, you definitely need the extra speed. The improved visibility both in person and on the radar helps too, of course, but the main thing is you being allowed to move with a decent pace. I.. want to say it makes the sun set faster to compensate, but I'm unsure on that - it might be based on progression or just a trick of the mind. You are only given good vision because he wants to take it away. Legs can 'lunge' if you try to cheese him, specifically in shutter mode. Stick too close, to instantly flash him with the camera and he'll all but teleport to you, and he can do this around corners if you're close enough. Legs CAN teleport, but doesn't.
