I’ve just been accepted to Brescia University College in London Ontario Canada. I am super excited for this new journey in life. I have Hereditary Hemochromatosis and mental health issues have been a part of my life since I was born. My father ended his earth life when I was 13 years old; which I believe was due to undiagnosed Hereditary Hemochromatosis and lack of appropriate mental health treatment strategies. Nutrition is my passion and mental health and genetics has touched my life in profound ways. I know my degree will be a combination of nutrition, food and psychology with a focus on Hereditary Hemochromatosis. I just found my academic guru in Dr. Rucklidge.
I am so glad you are going into this field. I have BP1 but went into a long term remission after following Dr Abram Hoffer’s plan of a paleo or ketogenic diet (no sugar, low carbs and no alcohol) plus supplementation of many micronutrients plus high doses of niacin. For those choosing to use Niacin, it is important to learn about the niacin flushing and to either use no flush or go into it slowly. Dr Abram Hoffer has passed away but he has a website as well as some you tube videos.
Hi. Look into bloodletting, aka hijamah. There’s lots of therapists in Ontario. One good one is in Milton and Mississauga. You can even learn and take a course online.

As a bipolar person I can attest to micronutrients being used as a solution to helping overcome mental illness. My story is of survival and yes high levels of micronmicronutrients is just one tool that I use daily to help my balance mental state.

Extraordinary that these ideas are considered to be outside of the ordinary. The efficacy of Keto Diet & Niacin ( for example) are well understood, and should be part of the ‘standard of care’ for depression and many other neurological issues.

Well I suffered from a very sévère dépression and was eating very healthily, adding superfood etc... I went downhill anyway. No drugs, no alcohol. Thanks for anti depressants. When you finally find the right ones.
Sorry for your condition. My mental health amazingly improved after I removed gluten (wheat, rye, barley) from my diet. Also daily exercise, sunshine, fresh air, and walking at least 30 mins really lift my spirits.
I just recommended one with depression to eath very healthy and exercise. So that doesnt work just like it does not with real schizophrenia. Ok but how are you doing now are you still on the depressant
Title of the video says, What if Nutrition could treat Mental illness? But this good Dr. here talks about replacing one pill with another. She is talking about nutrition that comes in a pill. Basically saying, taking multi- vitamin pills with minerals and vitamins is good for you. Even though yrs of research has been inconclusive, not able prove that taking minerals and vitamins in a pill form is beneficial for you. So disappointed. Sure, there are ways for us to think of food as medicine and eat nutritious foods. I think chinese or japanese cultures do that. Asking people to take a pill or many pills to cure or prevent illnesses is not very creative.

So, in other words, at least take a high quality multi vitamin, eat lots of salads and cut out the junk food.
Watch the salad and uncooked food it is very cold in terms of food energetics
High dose omega 3 never did anything for me
Thats because you have to have a balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6. Try a Fish oil with EPA 800mg & DHA 600mg.
