IT IS VERY GOOD THAT PEOPLE WHO RECORD THESE VIDEOS PUT IN THE CORRECT NAMES OF THESE FINE SCOTTISH REGIMENTS -------- AS ON THIS ONE & MANY OTHER VIDS. ---------- THE GORDON HIGHLANDERS !! JOHN .
@24michiganironbrigad They're actually 4SCOTS. In other words The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland. All regular soldiers and officers of the regiment wear government tartan but the battalion pipe bands wear the historic tartan associated with the old regiment they came from (before the creation of the super regiment), in this case Cameron of Erracht tartan which was worn by The Highlanders. (3SCOTS is The Black Watch battalion.)
The music for General Salute is ' Point O' War' This was used by the Queen's Own Highlanders prior to amlgamation. The Gordon's used 'St. Andrews Cross.'
@GibPiperTarik I'd think they are the Gordons new Battalion which is 3 Scots. But 3 Scots still are supposed to wear the Gordon Tartan, and the pipers wear Cameron.
Pride on Parade. One final question though, and perhaps any current soldiers can answer it. When the guard was marching on to "Cock of the North" the pace seemed very fast, more like 120(or faster?) paces a minute rather than the slower highland pace of 112/110(I can't remember which) that I marched to during my service. Has this changed in the past few years? Cabar Feidh
I don't think those are the Gordon Highlanders, probably The Highlanders just that...anyways, what in all things piping was the General Salute?! Goodness me..
