    The magic mask in DaVinci Resolve does a really good job. You don't have to go frame by frame. You just make sure that your object is selected properly, and then you can have it track forward and backwards depending on where you started masking.

  • @flagshipbowtie
    @flagshipbowtie ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Goodbye is based on OpenCV object detection in Automask mode and if you throw a mask around the object it can give you a better roto and a cleaner edge but at the same time and can mess things up. Background substraction is background v2 paper and it works rather clean in many cases. It really depends on your scene
    Robust Video matting is based off trained data on humans. It can only work on that unless you train it on something else.

  • @DaveDFX
    @DaveDFX ปีที่แล้ว

    NukeX has Copycat node that users can custom train rotos. Unless you have a lot of shots, it's faster to manually roto. Image segmentation using other ai tools can help with the basic mattes. Then artists spends more time on the edges.

    • @enigmatic_e
      @enigmatic_e  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea all depends on what kind of projects you have. Ideally you would just simply use a green screen.

    I am not familiar with Colab - can one sign up for pro and copy that notebook and run it your own instance? I don't mind paying for better performance. Just not sure if a simple copy brings it all over?

    • @enigmatic_e
      @enigmatic_e  ปีที่แล้ว

      You just need a Google account and just follow the steps you see me do here, it’s free. You will create the folder with the files in Google drive. Unless you’re using it for super long processes I don’t think you should pay for it. Try it for free and see if it meets your needs and if you still feel it’s not good enough then you could consider paying for it. You do get better performance but you also have a limit of computing units. Paid use to you give you unlimited use but just a few months ago they added limit to it, I was pretty bummed that.

      whats actually really incredible is when using it with greenscreen footage, usually,,with the builtin keyer you get some kind of darker edges around the person/subject and start shrinking, using different tools.. Setting Goodbygreenscreen to „color“ and picking one… BAM.
      Some spillremoval is usually required, but that too in AE is working great anyway.

      @@fernsehdesign okay I’ll have to try this again. I kind of abandoned this a while back. I remember watching their official video guide on how to use it and I don’t think I remember them mentioning that it had to be set to 8bit but I might of missed that part. I appreciate the info, thank you!
