COASTAL FORAGING - The Gift That Keeps On Giving. ( oyster conservation)

  • Coastal foraging is about much more than just finding wild food to eat. You need to understand each of the various habits and how it's inhabitants interacts with each other and with adjacent habitats. From the base of the food chain to the very top, removal of too much of any layer will have a serious detrimental effect on the whole ecosystem. ONLY collect an amount for your needs and don't collect too much from one area-vary your gathering over a wider area. A scenic video of cooking and pickling/preserving foraged wild oysters with wild garlic, rose hips and rock samphire on the coast of Carmarthenshire in Wales UK. I also try and repopulate the bay with native oysters. Finding another use for the oyster shells is also explained. "Did I say we found a pearl" we did ! It was nice day out and I'm delighted to share it with you.

Imagine waking up on a Christmas morning and you see pickled oysters under the tree. Whoever receives that is gonna be so delighted. What a wonderful gift honestly, I would personally be happy hugging a jar of pickled oysters.

Good learning channel but I do not agree with the way you give out location's, there are many dubious characters that will rape an area for monetary gains, many foreigners have been arrested for raping areas of its wild food recourses for the restaurant industry and some areas are finding it very hard to recover. Please do not give out unnecessary information like location's and area's, if everybody whent out because of your information and killed off the wild harvest how would you feel.
