Your recipe says 1 1/2 cup liquid, but it doesn't look like you even came close to adding that much liquid to your beans. Any tips for reheating? I made these last year, the day before and they turned into a paste when I heated them up the following day for the picnic.
My dad’s Aunt Lucile was our Bean Queen. Every time we had a party my dad asked her to bring her beans. When she died my dad inherited her bean pot. I have it now and will be using it tomorrow. ❤️❤️
I've watched you for years and you're so sweet and fun! Ive LOVED watching you. The beans look delish...can't wait to try these...YUM! 💙 p.s. your recipes have made my kiddos say mama's cooking is "amazing" 🥰 God Bless you! 🙌
I agree with you about using fresh beans and soaking them in cooking them they are so much better than the can stuff. Once you get used to making them you will never go back. I will cook them either on the weekend or whenever I have the time and then I can freeze them for later use recipe looks really delicious
My man laaaaves baked beans .. thank you! I'll make them for our holiday....I miss you when I'm busy "but when I can catch up with you; you always delight me with yet another family favorite addition to my table. Have the best Summer!!!!
Yummy! My Mom always made homemade beans and she would only use a brown bean pot for them and serve them with fresh pumpernickel bread. We had a special wrought iron bean pot holder where we could hang the bean pot over a votive candle( there was a small cup attached to it for the candle to keep them warm. It was like a mini cauldron . She placed it in the center of the table on a wooden cutting board and we helped ourself. It was very stable and she had a deep wooden spoon to serve the beans. Mom, always put a bit of red wine in her beans before she baked them and it just made the flavour pop. I wish I had the pot and the holder, but my sister got it when she passed away. She brought it from England when they moved to Canada. I should see if I can find one like it. In a pinch you could probably use a fondue pot but it is not as rustic looking. She also would make a Pierre Burton version of baked beans once in a while which was a much longer process. Sort of the gourmet of baked beans. Thank you for sharing your Mom's recipe, I will give it a try. :)
My Grandpa made homemade baked lima beans. I think he probably grew the beans in his garden. Back in the 60's. I hated Lima beans but I LOVED his Baked Lima beans.
Made this morning came out good just wasnt sure about the cooking the beans 1hr, did u bring beans to a boil and then reduce to low for the hour? It did not say in recipe instructions for cooking the beans for the hour time. I did boil then low for the hour.
Where my family is from we eat soldier, Jacob's cattle or yellow-eye beans with dried mustard salt pork and molasses all cooked in a bean pot. Sorry your grandma's beans would be choked down with as sincere a smile possible.
My mom and dad used to make homemade baked bean… now days people open caned baked bean and doctor it up and say it homemade but to me that’s not home made…
His were light because he didn't add much of the condiments...Just add more of all that he added and beans will be darker ...He might like then light. you could add barb sauce but the liquid smoke takes over

Cook this and the macaroni salad! Amazing, loved it!
Just spray your measuring spoons (cups) with cooking spray and the molasses, ketchup, mustard, etc will slide right out. Cleanup is so easy!
There is never the need to measure with such a recipe...Its quite easy to see how much is needed without measuring 3 tbsp
Yea😁
I'm heading to IaCity spending holiday with nurse friends. I'm making your grandma bake beans, yep I am.
Bless you our friend

Wow, your recipe is just like mine, but I do add a combo of dark brown sugar and molasses...the beans come out a little darker.

Yeah I think I’m gonna try that but with pinto beans ‘cause I’m a pinto bean girl maybe some brown sugar instead of molasses I haven’t decided yet
Greetings,
New camera person?
Cheers 🍷
Where can I get a knife like yours
My grandma made baked beans in a real crock, not a crockpot!!
Looks great ... without the mustard :D
I would bake it off in a cast iron with rendered bacon grease and only add bacon bits at end on top ...Don't like wet bacon
My mom and dad used to make homemade baked bean… now days people open caned baked bean and doctor it up and say it homemade but to me that’s not home made…
Can you do these in a crock pot
I actually have another baked bean recipe that utilizes a slow cooker! Search "slow cooker BBQ baked beans Wyse" and you should be able to find it.
MY ! arn't you SPECIAL
It looks tasty but the color is not appealing? Maybe add some BBQ sauce and/or some brown sugar would give it a richer brown color?
His were light because he didn't add much of the condiments...Just add more of all that he added and beans will be darker ...He might like then light. you could add barb sauce but the liquid smoke takes over
In a million years, never. Where's the bean juice. Much too dry.
🤍🤍🤍 🫘 🥓 🧅 looks so good! 🤍🤍🤍
Good start, but in my opinion you need more tomato product, ketchup, paste or sauce & I like brown sugar instead of molasses .
