I remembered being obsessed with reading these weekly ads as a kid. I was 11 when this one came out and I still remember some of these items and their prices to this day. It's funny how so many of those items, especially the TV's, will go for $50 max in thrift stores when they were thousands back in the day.
This brought back memories! I remember lookng through these BestBuy & ToysRUs ads as a kid! Wishing i can buy it all!🤣 I actually miss this era of gaming! No online no downloads just head over to a store & buy or rent a physical game copy with a free demo disc included. Thank you for sharing this great nostalgia gaming content!💯
90s kids were the last generation to look through these catalogs, circle what you want, and hand it to mom. You never got 99% of what you circled, but it was always fun to look through
for my pay as you go phone paid £10 for a nokia 3312 variant from 08 it lasted all the way till 2016 when i got my first then modern phone a luma 650 gil
I was working at the San Bernardino Best Buy at the time. Then I worked for Bose following year. I can't believe it has been 22yrs since. Those were good times
Electronics are always priced outrageously at first and then when the technology gets a bit more easier to produce they drop the prices to be affordable. Beta Max and VHS VCRs when they first came out were priced way out everyones range for a while until maybe the mid to late 80s and i remember DVD players costing like 500$ at first for just a basic player.
Its crazy to see the prices at bestbuy back then. Its crazy how much more expensive EVERYTHING is now with inflation. Except TV prices back then those were outrageous 😂
The first HDTV I ever saw in person was $10,000 for a 32" TV in Circuit City. It was one of those ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio TVs that are still pretty rare today.
I don't ever remember seeing a TV for $11000.00,I got my first 32 inch flat screen in 2014,my ex mother in law gave it to us,my parents always had the big heavy floor model TV's,they did have a smaller one in their room, and later I had a smaller one in my room.
Man back when you weren’t paying $60 - $70 for a game and it didn’t cost $800 for a console, I wish I was old enough to experience it but I was only 2 months old at that time😭.
Love the video amigo I’m a late 90s/2000s kid and I one day wish to collect stuff that I remembered as a kid in the 2000s because as you know one day I’ll be in my 50s (God willing) then I will be able to look back at these as nostalgic blasts from the past 🥲😀
It’s crazy the first flat tv was Phillips in 1997 for $15k but nobody really knew about it cuz limited quantities were sold am thinking n so expensive.
Crazy how pricey those TV's were. 50" flat screen for 11,000$! We got our 50" wide screen LED for $500 today. The only good thing about the modern day when it comes to prices, is merchandise. Everything has remained the same for price, or price is much lower, and you get more for your buck. I guess we can equate this to everything being produced in slave labour camps in China!

Those TVs go straight to the trash 😂

I miss all the nice stories we once had..
Thank you for taking us on a nostalgic ride with this catalogue,it was fun leafing through this with you virtually 😊❤
Love this - do more of these reviews of old newspaper ads!
11 thousand dollars for a TV the year I was born?! No doubt my family didn't have flat panel TVs till I believe 2008
We didn't get an plasma-TV until very late 2000's aswell.
I delivered pizzas for Domino's back in 2002. I remember the only places I saw flat-screen TVs were in very expensive homes.
Now we can buy a 50" 4k for like $300.
@@fueledbymusic3 Hope you are doing well. I enjoy your nostalgia videos alot.
@@fueledbymusic3where at Gil? I haven't seen any 50 in 4K tvs for $300
2002.
you are a legend for holding on to this stuff. thanks for sharing, very interesting.
My first flat Tv was back in 2013 😅
Mine was 2015 and I still have it.
This is great asmr. Can you show some of your oldest catalogues next?
I always loved these ads especially from kohls back then.
Back then yeah they were giving cell phones for free now they charge you on the leg for a cell phone
2:15 VHS was disconnected in 2006. They where still selling vhs in the Early- mid 2000s.
True but vcrs in dvd combo format were until mid 2016
Someone should walk into a Best Buy with this add and ask an employee where the item is and that you want buy it.
Toys r us anyone? Yes please
I am in
😂
RIP Toys R Us. Or as my father called it "Tios".

Love this series Gil!
That was great, Gil. You have to check if you've got any more old flyers kicking around.
I'm watching this on a Pioneer Kuro. Top of the line Plasma TV came out around 2010 I think. Pretty close to OLED and more natural motion and depth.
That same year I purchased my first 42 and it was over 5k. Its still works great to this day.

My sister paid like 6999 for a 60 inch in 2007
imagine if $13,000

Went to a club in 2003 and saw about 15 plasma pioneers elites on the wall and it blew my mind. Almost $20k each

Cool
$11,000 in 2002 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $19,232.57 today.
You have the voice of a 60’s broadcaster
Heheheh 10:07 that looks comedic looking and amusing imo that ig wrsitband looking phone? Thing. Idk
wow, 50 inches for $11,000? In todays world that TV would only cost like $100 at most lmao. It’s crazy how much times have changed
Dude you’re getting a Dell
I'm saying hi to everyone when this gets recommended to everyone in the future
Very good
Wow 10 grand for a flat screen 🤯. Jesus Christ loves you

In 2024 prices are up except in Electronics. You can buy a 75" tv between $400 to $500
Yes but a decent quality screen will be at least $1,000
@houdinihir9549 that's still very affordable.
You talk like you’re eating peanut butter like the Afghan dude in Rickie Bobby.
