- People from the French region Breton are seen as stubborn. But is this the truth or just a cliché? Are people from Breton because of her history different than the rest? What distinguishes people from Breton from the rest of France? A documentary that is trying to look for the truth about the inhabitants that live in Breton.
Like the famous comic strip heroes Asterix and Obelix the people from the French region Breton are also bravely resisting oppression. They are not fighting against Romans, like the comic heroes but against Paris, centralization and the puffed-up windbags of the Republic who don´t get what local people want and think is important in this region. No wonder that some of them build alliances with other oppressed peoples.
Living "like a God in France" is a saying applicable to vacationers in France, but absolutely not to the French themselves: to them, life is nothing but worrisome. They are facing high unemployment rates, fear of new terror attacks and an important political division. What is left of pillars that are the basis of the French republic: Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité? And what does it mean actually, to be French, today? Dutch Parisian Wilfred de Bruijn uncovers an intriguing country, full of contradictions, far away from the cliches we all know.
The most famous Breton is arguably the cartoon character Asterix who held the Romans outside his village in Armorica - now called the Côtes d'Armor. In the same spirit of intransigence, the Bretons still remain rebellious and act against the powers in Paris that set the standard. And a few decades ago there were still Breton regionalist activists on the television news, and at the time, they were the terrorists making the headlines in France. Wilfred de Bruijn examines how the Bretons differentiate from the rest of the French regions. What is the true nature of the Breton movement? What do they want?

I'm from Cornwall and many people mistake me for being Breton when I went to visit, we are cousins separated by sea.
Dydh da / Demat. I'm from Brittany. Sorry for my english. Languages and cultures of Brittany and Cornwall are very close. I learn breton and when I see cornish words, it's sometimes easy to understand (sometimes).

Some Bretons look more British, but others more French / Gallic, hence they must be a mixture genetically
What does a French person looks like?
We are all Celtic, so we are very similar in appearance.
Actually there is a lot of Immigration in France ( when I say a Lot it’s like French are probably a minority in their own country) ...
Generally true french people look like a mix beetween Dutch , German and Italian ,Spanish, from north to south. And there are some particular cases. Nowadays everything is mixed up there are millions people of from all around the world. It’s the choice of our differents Governements

there were the same kind of thing.
My grandpa when caught speaking breton in school had to wear a hat written "stupid" on it, he can only get a rid of it by denouncing another child guilty of the same "crime". At the end of the day, if he had not denounced anyone, he had to cross the village with this hat, and come back to school still wearing it the next morning.
They were always told things like "breton is only good to talk to the pigs"
French taught us to be ashamed of what we are.
