These will sit so I’ll just play the ling game until it goes on clearance. Quick FYI: OG G1 had metal feet and air intake/chest area around canopy was also metal. This version is not worth $33. Easter egg: if you watch Top Gun, “Goose” brings young “Rooster” a G1 Starscream as a gift when he comes back from deployment.

Joints are stiff, pegging things into things is really tight. No stress marks. I agree the weapons are too long. Maybe Starscream's girlfriend will disagree with that. Solid figure. Close enough to the original for me despite obvious differences. Worthy to be in my collection.
I just got starscream yesterday and it's just like my childhood all over again. The one issue on the one I have is that the megatron gun clip won't tab into the bottom of starscream's hand.
Generation 1 was just a little before my time, however, I still love the original series and figures. I have a couple of g1 figures and am always looking for more.
Regarding stress mark 10:34. I had same issue. I used my heat gun on second to lowest heat setting, using in gentle bursts over the piece whilst gray piece was in situ ( I had the robot off to the side, not attached). The stress mark disappeared and the hole reshaped itself to that gray piece’s post size. I made sure not to over heat as didn’t want it melting.
The only Starscream I ever had as a kid that was all in one piece (and I still have him) was the G2 Starscream. But funnily enough the first Transformer I ever played with that got me into Transformers as a kid was a Seeker, a G1 Thundercracker.
Just got him today, I love him...my first Starscream G1 figure. I have a lot of leftover G1 figures from when I was a kid and have been buying the re-issues as they come. But always collected the Autobots. So now working on the Decepticons...and Starscream was a must have.
The huge missiles are a remnant of the 2003-ish reissues that were updated to meet the safety standards of the time. Basically they didn’t spend the money to correct the molds.
one of the main reasons they use the bigger ones is remaking the molds is a massive cost issue the molds need to be remilled for small parts so they just reuse the mold from the last time they remade the g1 mold
@@PatriotPrimeReviews not even an insignificant amount their fault for not taking better care of the original molds gotta chrome them to lessen wear of the steel molds themselves (not foolproof as theyd be ruined eventually like g1 optimus) which then would require restoration or outright replacement
Yeah, this is basically the Takara TFC #9 Starscream reissue. The main difference is they added the paint details on the face in the WM edition and the tip of the nose cone is the same colour as the fuselage. The fitment issues I feel are as a result of mold wear due to the multiple reissues over the last couple of decades. You can actually see some deformities in the nose cone area, especially where the canopy is, and it's gotten worse with the recent WM Thundercracker reissue. I've heard there's a WM Skywarp one coming in the future, so I expect that to be a bit worse again. But when it comes to the "Movie" version reissues, at least Hound came out great. I think it's because his mold hasn't been used as much as the seekers.
Maybe I should wait to see if they'll have a "missing link" version? Side note, with the size of those null rays, those would look better on the larger Earthrise, wouldn't they? 😅
I actually found this in my local Walmart today. They had 5. Mine has the same stress mark as yours but not as bad. I gave Optimus megatron to wield. Overall I’m happy with him. Great video sir. Thank you for your service
I was very disappointes with the box this came in. At least the old G1 and reissue boxes you could store the figure in the plastic again. Here, there is no molded plastic to put the figure back in.
I’m going to assume the next figures in retro are bumblebee, the other decepticon jets, megatron, Optimus prime, sideswipe, sunstreaker, jazz, bluestreak, ironhide, ratchet, prowl, soundwave, shockwave, mirage and the aerialbots.
Cool review. I love the painted face, especially the eyes, I hate the G1 sticker eyes. On all the seekers I have I never put the stickers on the eyes or just remove them if I get one used, and I just paint them the best I can. The null-rays are not that bad, but I hate those long cluster missiles. As for the wings in robot mode, I always push the wings back, but that is just me 😆. I hope to find this guy, and the Hot Rod as well, you are right, only Geewuners will be into these re-releases. I am looking forward to the Hound, I never owned G1 Hound so I really am looking forward to finally get one, even if it is just a re-release.
That would be a show of me scrolling through Ebay, and Mercari on my phone. Unfortunately Conventions are pretty much the only place I get to look at G1 figures hands on before buying.
I made the same stress mark on mine too😢 also when I tried to fit the bottom portion of the Megatron gun to his hand it chipped the blue paint, and didn’t even fit in the end !
I'm willing to bet the missiles are so long for legal reasons. Odd though that the weapons arent. But I feel like I can recall hearing something as a kid about parents being worried about their kids choking on missiles back during the 90s. Back when parents were going a little too crazy about safety. Being a parent now, however, I do kind of get it in hindsight.

nice review. I like my orginal g1 starscream better. the Walmart one his legs seem to bend inward. my orginal does very little you have to look for it. this one you can see clearly
The missiles are so dumb, one launched off when I was moving the figure and vanished into a crack in my couch, and I haven't even bothered to get it back out. The null rays seem slightly big, but don't bother me. They at least look more or less like null rays should. It's nice the launchers actually work, unlike actual G1 era launchers (in America anyway). I never had Starscream but I had Thundercracker (pre-rub even) and it was so disappointing to have launchers that were basically just holders.
For my Commerative ones I just cut the long peg off the missile at the base of the warhead, measured it to a G1 one, cut off the extra length, and Superglued it back on the warhead.
It's a shame about the missiles. I would have thought that we've moved on from that now. I am quite interested in this line, but, sadly, we will never get a Megatron.
Shame his face looks so much better on the back of the box. The lighter one he has would better suit Thundercracker or Skywarp better. Have you tried the lighter trick to remove stress marks? Just glaze it over the spot, take your time so you don't melt it.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Don't use a lighter. Warm the plastic with a hair dryer, or heat gun. Run it back and forth, so you don't keep it in one spot and gently warm the plastic and it should reduce, or remove the stress marks, then leave to cool.
Man this toy looks plain. Yes the color scheme is ok, but the face looks a little sloppy with the paint application. The weapons are horrendous, and I paid $12 for a 3D PRINTED set of both the short bombs and null rays. I found mine in the wild at my local Walmart so I didn’t have to pay the shipping. I think it was $33. Definitely NOT worth it unless you are a diehard starscream fan, or completist. I think it actually needs some of the original stickers to hide the screw holes, and give it a little more pizzazz.

It is not recognizing the history of what for some of us, was an important part of our lives. I'm not saying it can't be criticized, but treating it that way seems too much to me. I have the 2018 Walmart version; it’s actually a fantastic reissue. If you’re not a fan of the longer missiles, vintage missiles and launchers can be found online, and Destron Designs is working on reproductions, which I intend to buy.

he is basically a reissue of the Takara Anime starscream. He came in a Book like packageing #9 have all 20+ reissues they are amazing.

Hasbro lied and showed the classic size missiles on the package, while the actual missiles inside are the unusable comically long missiles.

yes and his tail fins have paint stripes on them. Loved the book formats Megatron and Optimus Prime were amazing in the TFC.
The painted head is worth the price for me. Mine unfortunately has a QC issue where one of the intakes on the head isn't painted.

I like the figure. Anime-inspired colors. The only issues I would have are the oversized null rays and the missiles.
Has anyone found a fix for the tail fin stress mark? Tried a hair dryer and it didn't work. Or has anyone had a figure not have this issue?

I bought it for bot mode. The painted face is worth it. Alt mode needs work. Any mods to cut the missiles?
