- Going through old footage while editing Raising the Bar 4 and I thought some of you would like to see these raw unedited images from my shooter's position in the pit at the 2010 Arnold Classic. With Kai Greene, Phil Heath, Branch Warren and Dexter Jackson.
This footage was used in highly edited form in the bodybuilding documentary Kai Greene: REDEMPTION available at mikepulcinella....
The quality of this video is unreal !

The lighting is also critical and was well done at this show.
This is the best video of that show on the entire internet. Best showing ever of phil, and one of the best Kai's weve ever seen. Proof that if Kai nails it, he can beat phil.

The camera person was following my instructions to get closeups of various things and shoot in various ways for the documentary I was making. This is raw footage, never meant to be viewed unedited.

Phils Tan is non existent standing next to kai
None of these guys look as good now as they did then except Dexter, who...always looks the same. Kai has passed this level of fullness, Phil has developed a gut (which he does okay to keep in check, somehow) and Branch has just lost some of definition and his mid has started to fill out sideways.
2010 was an incredible year for these guys, 2011 Phil looked even better but those days are gone.

John Bracewell Branch and Kai quit and Phil’s gut is shit to the point where he couldn’t control it and lost an Olympia. Dexter looking better than 2018 in the 2019 Pittsburg Pro, but might retire depending on how he does so Dexter still looks solid.
@@Drae2212 its about time for a complete roll over in the olympia top 6 all the guys that have been placing high are dropping and the new guys are starting to move up if brandon curry can get it figured out he'll have little problem take over the title in the next 2 years or so

Brandon Curry has one of the best physiques among the new threats, but he needs to work on his legs and his arms if he wants to decisively beat guys like Bonak and Roelly. The line-up is getting deeper and the 2019 Olympia may have one of the deepest line-up in a while.

What a great lineup
If you check the score card, you'll see that all the judges had Phil in the first place from pre-judging, which is this video. Kai pulled ahead during finals.
That top 4 lineup would wipe out todays top 4 lineup in mens open any day!

Awesome video-thanks for the upload, can't imagine how much your HD camera cost in 2010. Trying to find HD videos of bodybuilding contest on youtube is like trying to film Bigfoot in HD, not going to find it unless in 240p.
Not much. It was a fairly inexpensive camera. Canon VIXIA.
The lighting in the venue and proper exposure on the camera helped a lot to make these images look as good as they do.
Shows what a financially poor sport when they won't cough up on decent video's! All professional footage should be this good!
Phil is obviously levels ahead of everyone on the stage!
If this happened this year I think the results would be a little bit different. Phil is just on another level... dexter looks incredible here. peeled glutes

Phil was actually the best man on stage. He wasn't oiled up properly and his tan was off too. Conditioningwise he beat Kai definitely. And already the guts were present...

Kai, Phil and Dex all look amazing but the HD footage really highlights how while the current Era is massive and separated, they really don't have the dry grainy look of a yates or early coleman. I would love to see similar footage of Dorian in 93 olympia.

Also posing is very difficult. If done properly it uses every muscle in your body all at once.
You can tell why the current competitors now days are not conditioned enough. These guys are struggling up there , they really do what it takes to bring it and it shows into their physique

It's called having full muscle bellies. They're still pretty dry, grainy.

The camera person was following my instructions. This footage was intended to demonstrate specific things for a documentary, it is not archival footage of the contest.

I respect the hell out of Branch Warren, but both Phil and Kai look like they are in a different damn weight class compared to him. Both of them must have had an additional 20-30lb of mass over Branch, just in the lats, shoulders and arms. I'm just a casual fan of bodybuilding, but I know that Branch never played the mass game and was more about conditioning, but when the other guys have more mass AND better conditioning...game over.
Kai's biggest mistake was to work on his physique with george farah which destroyed his physique......

That is a theory that has been floated. Do you think that is true? What were "they" afraid of? Kai was immensely popular (and still is) despite his past.
@@MikePulcinellaVideo Mr Olympia is a brand ambassador for the sport which has a lot of teenagers and young people as their audience. The IFBB cannot have an individual who doesn't have a 'clean' past.
It's just business, nothing else.

The young people waiting in hours long lines to talk to kai for a few minutes saw through the BS, recognized a man who had a rough upbringing and did what he could to survive, without hurting anyone.
