So, someone noted this in the comments of a different video, and I wanted to share it here.
As it turns out, the character's voice lines start in Old English at a previous age, then gradually shift into modern English as the ages pass by!
That is a level of detail I couldn't even comprehend until a few days ago! Props to the developers!
This mission was really tough on intermediate. The amount of micromanagement required was a HUGE leap from the last mission. The fact that the AI can just constantly spawn in these fat waves of guys was really frustrating. This is one mission I have no desire to repeat lol
The best way I went about it was to constantly recruit swordsman all the time. When the reinforcements show up try to wipe out the camps as soon as possible while reinforcing them with horseman to help with the last 2 camps. Also have multiple villagers at each gate to repair the walls so they don't get destroyed. I built a monastery as soon as I could so I could recruit monks to heal my swordsman after each attack.
Can't agree more, after two tries, I rage quit. Once I gather my strength and motivation, I'll try again... Can't imagine hard difficulty...
Btw, is he playing on Easy difficulty?
@@mertackportal6705 Make sure to use your stone. Couple of towers on each gate with springald's, archers split into smaller groups around the walls with their campfires down for healing, a hand full of villagers to run repairs, a group of soldiers or cav to run around and take out rams if needed, and a couple of mangonels on each gate plus some wooden towers with springalds doesn't hurt for the later sieges on harder difficulties.
Then build several mills surrounded by farms, fill with villagers, build a few extra barracks and just spam build soldiers. By the time reinforcements arrive you should have enough of a force to go out and fight them before they even get to your walls.

After trying 20+ times on Hard I found an easy win, without losing any walls.
The ONLY unit you need to make is Crossbowmen AND wooden walls around your main walls.
When the game starts put all your wood and stone workers into gold and start producing 2 Crossbowmen at a time (keep and archery). Never stop.
Later, upgrade your Crossbowmen, then build a 3rd and 4th Archery to make 3/4 at a time.
When out of Gold, go for wood and stone. Sell them for more Gold.
When maxed out - keep half of your Crossbowmen at base for defence and use the other half to attack Outposts.
The enemy could barely breach my wooden walls.

btw, an easy way to get the achievement for not losing walls is to build a palisade in front of the stone walls, while having longbows and mangos pepper the enemy. Also, stone towers count as city walls; didn't get my achievement the first time due to a tower going down.
Again, he forgot to make use of numbering his buildings into groups 🤣
Looks like you have it on easy, this is quite tough when you have it on intermediate, it is wave after wave, after wave. The amount of units you need to pump out to defend is incredible.
Yeah I noticed there was a lack of spam of mangonels. The intermediate difficulty most broken because it’s spams so much

Second attempt, was just a restart. Someone mentioned using a wooden wall, works perfect. Ai bugs out and archers will destroy anything getting close to the walls. I used two farms then once stone and gold were gone added those workers to the lumber mill.
All I did was build crossbows and swordmen. Added some knights and cav to the mix. That army really didn't do much after the first towers went down. Spam rams and they drop fast.
Nothing beats aoe 2 narration
Soo, did I just last night stay up 5am whereas i should have been asleep not feeling well watching pixelated apollo playing age of empires and watching all his four part, yes and was worth it. I love your videos Apollo make me laugh and how you also play strategic and enjoy keep it up :).

It just struck me , couldn't we just keep the throne for ourselves . Like we captured Stephen and have defeated the army .
Not how it works. If you don't have legitimacy to the throne, nobody of power and wealth will follow you and others will come take it off you.
Did you know you can rotate the camera to get a better angle on the fighting?

Mangonels are your answer just four is enough to take out entire raid party in three seconds.

@@rosolz9398 it's basically just selecting the same bulidings then, numbering them like it's a unit. He did it on the first episode of Norman campaign
