- In this weeks video, I provide an update on my yard 12 days after my recent top dressing, and we also install a catch basin drain to fix some of the flooding issue in our yard.

Thank you for doing this video! We have the same situation where we have to add a catch basin to an already existing line. All the other video show you how to do it from scratch, not after the fact. Be sure to buy the filter, it catches leaves and other debris keeping it out of your line. Great job!
I think you used the worst catch basin. The better one, and a lot cheaper one, is the 6 inch catch basin. You can easily adjust the height of the grate with the green 6 inch drainage pipe you can find at Lowes. A 6 inch catch basin will remove as much water as the big box type you bought . It costs about $12 versus $60 without the extension you bought. The most important thing to remember is that you have to maintain it. Once every year or two you have to water jet it out with a pressure washer, or snake it out with a snake without a cutter tip to get rid of the dirt and root buildup inside.
The 6 inch drainage pipe might be "cheaper", but now you've got yearly maintenance. One and done is the best way.
Anyone that thinks that is not a whole lot of work is crazy, trust me I have done 6 in my yard. As you dig, the river rock falls down like a sand pit. Agree with comments to drill a few holes to prevent mosquitoes. Hope you are feeling better after Covid.
Would you drill holes in the bottom of the basin if it were installed directly on top of dirt, or do you need to have some gravel underneath for drainage?
@@fillflashdetailer8838 go a little deeper and throw in some pea gravel and yes drill a few thin holes 👍

You didn’t knock out the connector to adapt to 4 inches.
What camera do you use
Did you drill holes in the bottom of your basin before closing up?
No the French drain on either side of the catch basin removes the water, don’t put holes in the catch basin!
I think the reason she mentioned the holes in the bottom is so that the sitting water in the basin can drain into the ground.
Should have at least 2 holes in the bottom of the catch basin to get rid of the standing water. Mosquitoes. Don't need screws for extender. 6 inch drain works just as good.
@@BackwoodsObsessions Yeah but you have 3" of water sitting in the bottom below the french drains. Mosquito heaven. You need holes in the bottom plus a good 8-12" of gravel underneath the basin. The reason these catch basins have that area under the drain ports is to catch rocks and other debris so they don't go into your drain lines. You'll probably need to clean it our every couple of year, especially with your sandy soil.

Hey! The neem oil did the trick unfortunately the sooty mold that was on the leaves killed the ones that were infected, but once this leaves dropped regrowth started within a week
