People trash it while probably trying to make products/solutions which simply just aren't as good as excel and other microsoft 365 apps. No custom solution will substitute these ones if you are able to make macros and automate as you go.
@@chairjacker I mean I'm sure you _could_ build custom solutions that do the same thing. But what I was getting at was that for the longest time (and probably still now) I couldn't read or watch anything to do with, for example, Python data manipulation libraries, where the creator didn't make some claim that what they were doing wasn't possible with Excel, that Excel was for noobs, etc. It was like they didn't even know Power Query/Power Pivot existed.
I swear the algorithm hears me. I finally have gotten to a place where I feel incredibly confident in PQ as it applies to what I do. I talked about learning Power Pivot to the same level with a friend last night.
Hello from Uzbekistan You are doing a great job I really appreciate that you are teaching with real life cases which are more useful in my job than other fancy youtube tutorials
To Zoom in you can use window's magnifier, which can be activated by pressing window key and Plus (+) key and to zoom out window key and minus (-) key, And by the way videos are fun and informative.
Greetings from Brazil, Mo Chen! I appreciate your videos very much, nowadays I work as a report developer in a Industry IT team. I am used to work with PBI, didnt know how powerful excel could be too! I want to find new jobs around here related to data analysis and reports development, and your content have been extremely useful. Let me ask you something. Could you bring in your next videos, examples of how a possible data analysis report finished project would look like? Using these tools you had shown? What does the client usually wants to see? And how is the appearence of the final version that you deliver? Thanks!
Whoever facing Date format problem (Order date ) : to convert Text to Date format use can use Power Query selecting the 'Order Date' column > select left side of Date column "aBc" > Right click > Using Locale > select data type - Date + select Locale - English(US) > OK
Thanks! I have a lot of other portfolio projects in my portfolio project playlist. Please check that out. I have analysis with pandas in there as well.
2:45 the first query is loaded in PQ. My question is, what’s the tool running between the headers and the first row? I’m assuming it’s running some analysis?
Hi I have created the relationships as required, I am getting a error running the Related function =RELATED(products[Profit]*orders[Quantity]) error: Function RELATED expects a fully qualified column reference as its argument. Please advice
hai mo chen, i have two data model and both have duplicate value which cannot to create relationship. i create distinct table and make relationship with both data. but that relationship don't worked.. can you advise how to solve that
Hey Mo Chen… thank you so much for this lesson. I have a question though. Instead of doing this in power pivot, is there a way we can create a calculated field (by adding new measure) using pivot tables?
In the design tab, the date table is not giving me the option to choose new. It is only letting me choose default. what could be wrong? Or what am I doing wrong?
I need help - obviously my Excel is 2016 and most of the things I don't have access to even if I use office 365 online. Do you have any advice on how to have the options you have?
What happened to the Data Roadmap for 300? I went to go purchase it today but i can't seem to find it just the Data Portfolio now? Please let me know how i can purchase. Thanks.
So used to seeing people trashing Excel while being completely ignorant of its actual capabilities. Refreshing video!
I'm glad you liked it!
Exactly

Thank you so much
Excellent 👍
Glad you liked it!
Great video! Appreciated a lot for this! It would be even better if you could do the same analysis in jupiter notebook using pandas.❤
Thanks! I have a lot of other portfolio projects in my portfolio project playlist. Please check that out. I have analysis with pandas in there as well.
Great video! Do you know if SSAS uses the same DAX just as Power Pivot or Power BI? or something might change between these tools? Thank you!
2:45 the first query is loaded in PQ.

Options in the View tab (Column quality and Column distribution).
What an amazing video. Whoever stumbles upon your channel has literally found gold information
I'm glad you stumbled here then!
Hi I have created the relationships as required, I am getting a error running the Related function
=RELATED(products[Profit]*orders[Quantity])
error: Function RELATED expects a fully qualified column reference as its argument.
Please advice
Try this =RELATED(products[Profit])*orders[Quantity]
its not working as it says text and not number

You need to convert the data type for the 'Order Date' column in PowerQuery to Date type.
I wish my data was always so clean 🥴 Rarely you have the data perfectly transformed to create one to many relationships
where can i get that data to pratice
It’s in the description
Hello Mo Chen, In the power pivot of Excel where in design I can't create the new date table like u created in this. Can u please tell me that?
i couldn't either
I need help - obviously my Excel is 2016 and most of the things I don't have access to even if I use office 365 online. Do you have any advice on how to have the options you have?
do you use windows or Mac ? I have Mac and unfortunately it's not supported in Mac version

I believe you sent me an email on this as well. I replied to you, please check your inbox.
does college degree matter to get into tech as a fresher ?
I can't do "add data to data model"
I have excel 2019 on windows
🤔The placement of your camera shot frame on the screen suggests you play League of Legends. 😊
I’m not a gamer at all haha
Is a an indebt and simplified tutorial. The only issues here is that the video is not clear enough. The recording is faint.
Bro you go too fast on the screen running from step to step
Please adjust the speed of the video
