    I performed this repair just last night on my 1999 F150. I worked on it until nearly midnight. Your video is very informative, but it is obvious that you have edited out all of the yelling and obscenities that are required in making this repair.

    Thanks so much- this was exactly right & worked great for the 1999 Ford Expedition- I saw other videos too, but YOURS IS THE BEST !!! The positioning of re-inserting (installing) the blower motor that you demonstrate is EXACTLY RIGHT! Wow, before I saw your video I tried unsuccessfullymany occasions to insert it- I was about to return it and I found and studied your video- I wish I had seen this video earlier. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 1A !!!! Thank you!!

    I would recommend when you pull the carpet back and get ready to put the blower back in that you use thread or real fine string to tie the gasket onto the blower assembly also if you spray WD40 on the On the pad underneath the carpet it helps the blower simply go in easier and the string or thread will ID where the holes are for you easier to find

    Detailing the 7 mm and 8 mm bolts helped big time. Thank you! That back one was ridiculous. Someone below mentioned a spring loaded extension. Great idea.

      For bolts like the bottom one here, superglue the bolt to the socket. Will hold it until it gets screwed in. Then just wiggle a little and the bond will break. Done!

    Listen everyone with a 1997 f150. this video makes it look a lot easier to pull out than it is. Mine was VERY hard to pull out once I got the bolts out. The space is so tight. It’s going to be very hard to put the new blower heater in once you take the old one out
    You’re definitely going to need an extension on your ratchet so don’t even think about not getting one. I made that mistake and had to borrow the neighbors. Definitely going to get some for the future

    I dont know what trim level truck he has but on a 2002 supercrew there is additional vent ducting below the fan and it is a LOT tighter a space than he shows here. That being said I've done this a few times due to mouse nesting issues. Here's some advice.
    1) If the original fan broke or there's a mouse nest in there, get a boroscope for your phone and check. Make sure you remove everything that shouldnt be there. A dead mouse puts out an unbelievable amount of carrion smell and if the previous fan broke and left fragments it will break your new fan. Use a shop vac. Its tight but it will work.
    2) Its super tight to fit the fan and you will have to (carefully) bend the "hamster wheel" to get it in there. You can get replacement fans on EBay with a black fan wheel that appears to be made of ABS. It is more forgiving than some of the white ones that can crack. (done that). Push the motor and base of the fan as hard as you can into the padding in the footwell and carefully bend and rotate the wheel until it goes up where it needs to.
    3) There is no room to use a normal ratchet. There isn't enough room to take up the slack. I use a 1/4 pneumatic ratchet but you could use a "zero degree" ratchet if you dont have a compressor. You will also need a 1 1/2 extension for two of the screws.
    Good luck!

      +Kelly Knight you may want to try getting a smaller ratchet or someone with smaller hands to be able to get in there, it is a rather tight area to work with

    I wish you would have shined a light in the opening where the blower motor came out, I have been told that you can see the recirculating air door to make sure its not stuck and causing only luke warm air and not hot heat..I'm not referring to the blend door, it is working fine on my 02 Fl50, but still not hot heat from the heater.

    Reinstalling the new blower motor was the most difficult part for me. I failed to lubricate the floorboard or bottom of the blower motor with WD40/oil and ended up damaging the foam of the floorboard.

    That big black box in front of the blower motor...what is it called? It looks like some kind of filter is in there. I have a 1997 Expy and everything I've been told says they don't have an in cabin air filter but that big black box with the fluffy part looks like a filter or intake. If that gets clogged or blocked could that somehow reduce AC/heat flow?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Anthony Milhorn I believe that is just part of the HVAC system, and could contain a cabin air filter. 1aauto.com

      Some F-150’s had filters. Mine does not, you can cut the bottom of the plastic box and add one very easily, I googled to find information to see if mine did and there’s a few that show videos on how make the necessary modifications to the box. Just an FYI

    Hey I have a 97 f150 4.6, the ac worked fine then all of a sudden I turned the truck on then the ac and smoke came out the the vents and I found that the wires/ plug for the blower motor where melted now no air blows out , does this sound like the motor just went out or other issues? Thanks

    When doing this to my 02 f150 I noticed they left out then entire beginning. Not only do you have to remove the panel but there is another part that has to come out so you can get the blower motor out. It is already removed in this video and it is not mentioned at all. Please show a full video next time.

    Is there a way to take a blower motor from my old 2000 ford f150 and install it into my 97 ford ranger

    • @1AAuto

      +Kelly Henry We would recommend replacing it with the same year motor. Even if the connectors were the same, the shape might be different and might not be able to fit

      yes or bleed the coolant system first actually. sometimes air bubbles can make it go hot then cold. hot then cold. bet it's your core though.

    • @jacobgreen6939
      @jacobgreen6939 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      also make sure coolant is full.
