    765 sounds much like her old self again, Whistle might need a bit of tuning, but it still gives me chills

      Nothing beats the 765, heard her for the first time when she did a run from Allen Park MI to Fort Wayne IN passing about a mile from my house. Confused me because it’s a Northfork & Southern freight line.

    The 1225 is my favorite, because the Nathan 6 Chime just sounds really good to me, gives me a sense of joy.

    There's something just so raw about the 765. What a fantastic locomotive.

    At 10:35, I always thought it was a D&RGW 5 chime, I didn’t know it was from the DT&I. Sounds good though.

    I personally would LOVE to see that T&P whistle on 300 PSI of stram.. I'm looking to recreate the sound of big boy 4011.

    9:41 I thought this whistle was the custom D&RG 3 chime that was shot built by the Denver & Rio grand Western according to Durango and Silverton crews the origins of 473 whistle were said as such

      @CPLWTrainz 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is D&RGW, just mislabeled, they are very similar whistles so it's not uncommon for people to label 473s whistle as a CB&Q, big difference between the 2 is bowl and a minor height difference in the bell (DRGW being taller)

      @@CPLWTrainz I gotcha no worries sometimes it’s hard to tell as certain whistles do sound very similar probably one of my favorites is that replica Texas and Pacific whistle as a fan of the Texas and Pacific Railroad it’s nice to hear the familiar voice similar to the famous Texas and Pacific 610 which occasionally is mounted on the smaller Texas state railroad engines a few times it was mounted on Mikado number 30 one of my oldest friends that I’ve first met when she was numbered 400 and one of the oldest examples of Mikado locomotives as of 2017 the engine is now over 100 years old it’s interesting the same year number 30 was built by Baldwin was the very same year that the union switch and signal company came out with their first model 15a teardrop crossing bell where I come from the train at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington has a bunch of these crossing bells in operation and they are well kept and maintained if they break their easily repaired by the railroad personnel

    That second whistle is actually not a Crosby, but an early Hancock Shortbell 3 Chime. Instead of a normal spring-spring horizontal valve arrangement, it has a vertically traveling poppet valve built similarly to the Lima whistles. Only about a handful or two of those whistles still exist today. Very cool sound-clips regardless.

    Thought 484 and 488 whistle were unknown.

    • @PennsyPro
      @PennsyPro  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were until recently. 484's whistle is now known to be ex-DT&I, and while the origin railroad of 488's whistle is unknown it appears to be a standard Nathan 5 Chime.

    HOW DID YOU GET A CAMERA ON THE FRONT OF THE PERE MARQUETTE 1225?!

    • @PennsyPro
      @PennsyPro  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By maintaining good relations with their staff, having a video production background in railroad preservation, knowing where equipment can be damaged or overheated on steam locomotives, and staying out of the crew's way. Purchasing insurance can also help, which we did in this case via LensRentals. We advise against mounting cameras on any locomotive without going through proper channels.

    • @ArkansasLocomotiveWorks
      @ArkansasLocomotiveWorks 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the bowl is of D&RGW origin, the bell is of CB&Q origin.

      @@ArkansasLocomotiveWorksclose, bowl is d&rgw, Bell is d&rgw but it's been worn down over the years and had to be machined to keep the contact surfaces working, so It's shorter than a standard D&RGW bell as built, that's part of the reason they get mixed up is because CB&Q bells are quite similar in height
