bro evan is absolutely crazy, i was gonna march with him with ID last season but I didn't have time to keep doing it and now I'm with up2 on drum set and he is absolutely killing it in up world
I was really rooting for Abel! Lukas did very well too! And of course Evan has tremendously good technique so the win is undoubtedly deserved Josiah is a monster ! Loved watching his as well 🔥 To the marimba players .. BRAVO! All were very good! The singles were insane! Overall this was an awesome and noble idea! Congrats to all finalist and of course the winner!
Late I know, but I wanna also give the biggest congratulations to Evan myself. I’ve known Evan since before we both even got to high school. Brass player here that marching band, indoor, AND DCA drum corps with him for almost 10 straight years, so seeing him grow into who he is now always just amazed me. Marching with him is always a treat so whoever has the chance to meet him, you’ll absolutely love him!
would love to see it instrument vs instrument next time, that one kid was playing freaking clean triple lats on marimba in the first video and his mallet skills were nuts def would've liked to see him get his flowers
truman and the drum set player, his name is jaylen, actually came and teched for our front ensemble and drumline respectively, i was in the front ensemble and they’re really cool guys. our band director, mr jon witmer is the battery caption head for palmetto and our front ensemble tech is also the tech for palmetto’s front ensemble, his name is Johnny.
Really impressed with the overall musicality and chops. If you do this again you might consider like instrument battles. In some ways the inherent "tonality" of a tenor set-up makes it more "musical" than a snare drum. I don't think there should be (or was there) any bias of drum vs practice pad. Some people's living situation (dorm, apartment) makes it impossible for them to record on a drum.
If video editing is taken into consideration, then I think people who play on an actual instrument vs. practice pad should also be taken into consideration. Playing on a real instrument will always be more demanding than a pad. In my opinion.
Exactly, I would never pick someone on a practice pad over someone on any instrument. Quarter notes out of tempo on a triangle would get my vote over the most technically and musically impressive solo on a practice pad.
took me a year to realize this, but Evans solo is just a modification (or early season) of the mob solo (the stick placement on drum 3 gave it away lol)
That is so funny! Chase from Kamiak HS is actually from my rival high school in Everett, WA. I know this because the church I used to go to is like two blocks away from Kamiak and I recognize the campus because I’ve been driving past it for like a decade. There’s 4 high schools in that city where I grew up and my high school (Mariner HS) and Kamiak were bitter district rivals in all activities. I actually think I should have switched and went to Kamiak my junior and senior year because it was a bit close to home and my high school band program went to shit those years while Kamiak has always been a huge and really competitive program. Their marching band was always almost twice as big as ours.
It gets really difficult when you have a person playing some flawless 80's style drumming (ramming, flams, 16ths, rudiments) vs. some flawless 20's style drumming (odd tuplets, multiple bounces, rubato).
If I were judging I’d have placed Josiah over Abel but not Lukas over Evan mostly because I like quads more and they both seem very apt to each instrument. I am a sax player.
Not disagreeing with any of the judging but want to give a shout out to Josiah's Left Hand Landon's Control going from alt. flams to swiss triplets to roll Jeffrey's Cymbal excellence Stevan's Musicality/Dynamics esp. at the end
@@ferretyluv I was selling my motorhome today, so I was a bit busy. The buyer came while I was watching this video, so I had to stop! 😳 I mean, really! I have priorities!!! 😜
It’s funny to hear non-mallet percussionists with deficient relative pitch talking about “musicality” and “melodic.” A 5-let would be a quintuplet. I’m more impressed by Lukas’ ability to switch in a millisecond from traditional to matched grip.
You're aware that they're ALL college-educated and DEFINITELY experienced mallet percussionists, right? Additionally, fivelet vs quintuplet is retarded. Nobody actually cares because they're the same thing. Getting mad freshman Theory 1 vibes from you. We agree about Lukas tho
Do you agree with our choices?
No, the washing machine shoulda won
@@PhilthyTurtle The washing machine definitely had the most creative solo
Yes, but I think Josiah should have placed higher. Lots of outstanding players!
@@drummerjason I thought the same thing! Otherwise agreed with all the picks.
I think Landon was robbed.
Such a cool experience, thanks for doing this Eric!
Is it just me or are they forgetting your name ends with an S?
@@HughMungusBob they said in part 1 the S isn't meant to be pronounced

Video 28 of asking EMC to make a video of him playing the Rock Band game series
Day 1 of assisting you in succeeding
I agree
@@hoihoihi2637 aye aye captain!
Ungh, they’re terrible. The screen never synchs at all with the music even after calibration.
I’d rather watch him play Trombone Champ.

You should pay Evan and Lukas tuition! Both were phenomenal.

👏 to Lukas representing Michigan
As someone in a Michigan Drumline it is nice to see someone do good

Broken city percussion is my favorite line
Lol the clapping at the end.
Worthy winner, but second-place guy would have won my version.
If video editing is taken into consideration, then I think people who play on an actual instrument vs. practice pad should also be taken into consideration.

Exactly, I would never pick someone on a practice pad over someone on any instrument. Quarter notes out of tempo on a triangle would get my vote over the most technically and musically impressive solo on a practice pad.
Real instrument is also more expressive/musical than a practice pad, and probably puts you in a better position to win. Greater risk = greater reward
took me a year to realize this, but Evans solo is just a modification (or early season) of the mob solo (the stick placement on drum 3 gave it away lol)

Honestly... I think Josiah and Lukas should have placed higher... But hey, that's why I'm brass not percussion...
Same here, I thought Josiah was better than Abel and Lukas was better than Evan. But I'm a woodwind player.
If I were judging I’d have placed Josiah over Abel but not Lukas over Evan mostly because I like quads more and they both seem very apt to each instrument. I am a sax player.
It's so nice that Eric is covering the dues for the winner. Guess that means he is doing well on his channel! 😉
This vs battle is such an cool concept. I hope wind players content creators do the same thing.
EMC with just snare=😀 no snare in set=🥴
Good morning! This is video number 48 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized or tuned snare drums.
he did that.....
Lukas shoulda won imo!!!!!!
Lets go florida district 5 mentioned (love u mitchell - jack ellis from springstead)
JUSTICE FOR JOSIAH!!!

Hi Eric, I know JR is already out, but I want to say thx for the donation to JR’s page and it really means a lot.
A tough final. But yes...that cleanliness was a winner.
1 Josiah , Evan
3 Lukas
4 Aiden
The tie breaker would go to Evan because he played on multiple drums.
chops are crazy and so is his pinky finger !!
JUSTICE FOR JOSIAH
Yo, Evan is my brother. Nice.
Not disagreeing with any of the judging but want to give a shout out to
Josiah's Left Hand
Landon's Control going from alt. flams to swiss triplets to roll
Jeffrey's Cymbal excellence
Stevan's Musicality/Dynamics esp. at the end
If you pay close attention you'll see that at the end Aiden was leaning towards Evan too.
Latest. Good morning y’all from a chilly Houston, Texas.
Day 7 of asking EMC to make a tenor set out of club drums
Let’s go Michigan and WLP 💪
ERIC!!!! Play rock band.. please
this was great
Amazing!
Imagine being a person who loses to a washing machine 💀
Went to high school with evan… everyone can attest how big his ego is but i’ll give it to him, he’s great at drumming
That’s not the Evan we know bro. Mans always had a big heart and is an incredible human being and drummer.

Tenor bias is real. Really good solo by evan tho.
taking into consideration tenors are objectively harder to master than snare
EVAN VS MILES KENNOBIE! DRUM BATTLE
