I've been waiting for someone to make this type of video. It's always nice to have someone prove minor differences in things that most players will never bother testing. WAIT I need to say something confrontational!!!
Something I noticed that wasnt mentioned here: Armor protects you from ants. He still makes a sound and "scrapes" them off his arms, but there is never any hives, rashes, or damage from them. I have only tried this, by accident, with stick armor. It may work against bees as well but I also dont know for sure. I find this to be an easier solution than using a torch when wanting to walk through the deep and not run right into a mound before you realize it.
I think I remember still getting a rash - you have to click hide armor to see it .. nvm you are correct - I just tested it and armor saved my arms from getting lit up by bees. I was using bone armor.
Thank you for the effort to put together these guides, they are very well made!! I have one objection though on your conclusion. Yes, the metal armor is the best as far as stats are concered, but I don't really thing the crazy amount of effort it takes to create one is "well worth" it, as you said. I play the game on max difficulty and I have full metal armor on my survival game, but it's just because I'm at the "endgame" and there is not much left to do for me, so I went for the metal armor, but if I'm griding through the story or during the first few weeks of survival, I think the armadillo armor is by far the best, just because it's so easy/cheap to make.
Just bought this, been playing for 15 hours, always keep a fire running just for the ash to make ash bandage for those damn jaguar lacerations; should have checked your vids I'd have found out I can wear armor, and that I can harvest all that charcoal I have laying around into ash and saved me a lot of time... earned a sub , cheers!
Wait what I haven’t heard of ash bandages yet I’ve been using burnt Goliath spiders for deep laceration bandages!!! Thank you lol. Although I have been playing for less than a week. But I just started my second round hahahah. I’m a binger…… Ha I forgot that you could find dead leaves on trees. I was running around looking for a damn bird nest instead of waiting for leaves to dry out 😒 I forgot like the first thing I learned in the game lmfaooooo
I played the whole story mode through and never once made armor. I started a “tourist” game just to figure out how to craft the things I didn’t know how to make. I couldn’t figure out how to put the armor on 🤣 now it’s like duh! Thanks
Not going to lie, pretty entertaining watching you just repeatedly walk into the snakes and spiders. Hahaha Side note, have you thought about doing a video testing out despawning times and what items stay? I know that would be extremely labor intensive, but just an idea, I know the community has many questions about it. Keep up the quality work, I appreciate how much time goes into each one.
all of your vids are very useful. There are lots of things I didn't know even after playing for quite a while. I want to ask you to make a guide to survive a long hiking without camping please? That should be very useful. Thank you.
Edit: You should definitely add voice over to your videos. I’ve heard you speaking in videos and it’s excellent delivery and adds so much more to your content. Even if it’s only a few sentences to add more personality to your videos. It doesn’t mean you need to speak for the entire video or get rid of the text but do both. So basically if it’s equipped it’s weightless?? That’s good news if it is and is excellent. I’m having trouble with carry weight (probably because my ocd always makes me have maximum sticks and fibre at all times).
That’s the exact reason why. The game wants you to think how things can be put together to make something better. Like it would be in a real survival situation. It wants you to experiment.
Thanx for all the testing!!! Bet that was tedious lol. But if armor doesn’t take up backpack weight when you are wearing it, then what’s the point of weighing the armor lol? Does it cost more stamina just wearing it if it’s heavier? Like real life lol? Idk just thinking out loud.
Wouldve been awesome if they had bone masks in this game I prefer bone armor just cuz of my indigenous nature an missing the middle of nowhere my home island
Why? That armor won't be as strong because Armadillos are harder to find and get than bones and leaves. Crating bone armor MANY times will be a better armor than Dillo armor, that you only craft every so often.
is it just me, or is batch crafting a specitic item, raise the quality of THAT item, but only to a lesser degree all other items? I was passing time for other things, so I crafted like 20 stone knives, soon I had quality 90 stone kinves, but everything else was barely raised at all.... so there's two different skills, the specific item, and "Crafting in general"?
I've had something similar happen but I've also seen videos that show an axe crafted with 100 in crafting to only have 71% durability when I can get 95% stone blades with 31 in crafting; maybe the tier of the item and/or durability of its ingredients also effects the end result.
Yes. I just posted about this. You're better off to just stick with crafting/using the SAME armor/weapon all game, because it will be stronger than something that you just started crafting. Like bone armor for a few months...then when you're able to craft metal...it won't be as good as the bone.
Greetings, on crafted armor parts, if you place them back onto the crafting stone.... you seem to be able to craft something else, but i have yet to figure out what. Does anyone have an answer for this?
so, messing around and trying everything i could think of..... 1 crafted stick or bamboo armor + 1 Melted Iron ore + 1 Empty Mold = Armor Mold. I didnt have Iron or Bone armors to try this with. Banana leaf and armadillo armors do not craft into this. And i have yet to bake the Armor mold's to see if they do anything different than the Stick + iron Armor molds. I am guessing these armor molds will act the same as the normal ones. If i find a different result i will follow up.
What I've noticed...if you've been crafting and using stick armor for a long time...then are able to make metal, it will be weaker than the stick armor. Just stick with one type and craft/wear that the whole time. I suggest bone, because it's strong and bones are everywhere. Same goes for weapons. If you've been using and crafting a bow all game...and then decide to make a blowgun...it will do very little damage. It's like starting over.
One for each limb. They last quite a long time if you’re good at avoiding conflict and/or are good at avoiding hits when in conflict. Edit: You don’t even need the same armour for each limb. You can mix and match depending on what resources are available to you.
Armor can't block from snakes.. then what is the point of it ? I can one shot everything with a spear .. no wonder i got still poisoned .. yeah im dropping the armor . Thanks yeah just picked up this game and im already bored with it.
I just finished this game after playing for over a month. I had no fucking clue I could even make armor until I looked at the trophies. I hated this game, imho ofcourse

I learned thru experience that if u are wearing leaf armor and walk over an ant hill the ants will swarm you but you wont get a rash from it.
You don't say
I have to ask if this applies to bee’s as well?
Something I noticed that wasnt mentioned here: Armor protects you from ants. He still makes a sound and "scrapes" them off his arms, but there is never any hives, rashes, or damage from them.

Bones is the way to go in my opinion cause every run in with natives is a fresh armor and also the idea of using them as armor is pretty cool
I played the whole story mode through and never once made armor. I started a “tourist” game just to figure out how to craft the things I didn’t know how to make. I couldn’t figure out how to put the armor on 🤣 now it’s like duh! Thanks
Nice video! Thanks for the info and time spent putting it together
Appreciate your videos buddy. Just bought it on the Switch so these vids are helping a lot. 😎
Subscribed! 👍
Cheers! Glad to help. :)
Thanks for this guide!
No worries, glad I could help. :)

I don't mind doing the time if it means that I can help people. I will do some tests. But this video will take a while. Thanks for the comment. :)
Yeah but the games suck dick so look how the armor looks like
@@HomelessHermit What a great person you are

Bring supplies
Great video! Do you have another on repairing armor? I’ve also wondered if you can upgrade leaf armor to another type.
Ty great video! Straight to the point!
Spot on guide no bull 👊 good vid dude deserve a like 💯🔥

Most pro vidz here, well done thnx 👍
Nice video! Lets farm some iron I guess 😁😁
Thanks for the thorough vid!
No worries, Thanks for the comment. :)
5:12 yea idk why they make it like that its actually stupid, how does a snake get his fangs through an armadillo shell they need to change that
Yeah that needs some attention.
@@HomelessHermit Depending on how good of armor you are wearing it should just have at least a percentage chance to block the bite
Yeah, snakes can technically bite through quite strong materials, but not Metal or Armadillo shells. Well maybe haha I'm not a snake expert.
yeah but I´d say that their argument is, that not your full armor is made of armadillo shell - there are still spaces with only banana leaves and rope
@@v1ntares but why the durability goes down so?

Very good explanation about what i was looking for 👍
It kinda sucks that wearing armor on your legs doesnt block snake bites
So question. Just started playing last night. Does armor protect from getting rashes and such? Or just predators and the ppl
wait, so one hit from a spearman destroys leaf armor? 4:00
I like this video is very nice and you show all the pictures
Great idea with the table :D
Haha cheers! :)
You deserve a like for the username and profile picture.
Why this game doesn't tell anything about armors crafting blueprint? Each and every time I have to experiment....
That’s the exact reason why. The game wants you to think how things can be put together to make something better. Like it would be in a real survival situation. It wants you to experiment.

If there’s a love button. I’ll smash it. 😘
I can do that haha
Ayo?
I think a crafting skills affect the durability of armor too
well done mate!
Unreal man I was so close to figuring out the armor on my own. All I was missing from the equation was the fucking banana leaf. Thanks

Thanks ! Very good video

Can you do all weapons from worst to best?
I have a couple of videos covering, Spears, Axes and Bows. But it is hard to say what is best as everyone has different play styles.
@@HomelessHermit yeah. True. I love the bows rlly
The bamboo bow is the best bow. ;)
Does armor protect against the ants and wasp's/bee's?
that's a good edit
thanx for sharing this
Killing them armadillo is my main early game mission
Why? That armor won't be as strong because Armadillos are harder to find and get than bones and leaves. Crating bone armor MANY times will be a better armor than Dillo armor, that you only craft every so often.
Very Thanks Bro 🤗❤️
Thank you P.
Thanks great guide
Can u do a blade guide aswell
Yes, I'm working on it. ;)

Very surprised the metal armor is the lightest. I was expecting the opposite.
Yeah leaf armor is lighter but let's be real, is it really armor?
So there are no chest armors or helmets in this game?

Idk if I missed it, but does armor protect you from animals like jaguars etc?
Yes.
Ty so much!
No worries. :)
I completed story mode without even getting armor atleast once bcs idk how to craft one 💀
is armor on quest 2 standalone?
i think it's time for a green hell gameplay
Does armor help at all against leeches or parasites or the skin worms or anything?
I got leeches and can´t take armor of :)
So do you need just one, or one for each limb?
One for each limb. They last quite a long time if you’re good at avoiding conflict and/or are good at avoiding hits when in conflict.
Edit: You don’t even need the same armour for each limb. You can mix and match depending on what resources are available to you.
Completed the game without any armer.
Do armadilo shells have any other use?
Armor is the only thing that Armadillo shells can be used for at this time.
catching water
what about health lost without any armor?
The game developer really made the metal armor one of the lightest? How is metal lighter than sticks? 😂 Not hating, just curious
Thanks.
No, Thank you. :)
Armor can't block from snakes.. then what is the point of it ? I can one shot everything with a spear .. no wonder i got still poisoned .. yeah im dropping the armor . Thanks yeah just picked up this game and im already bored with it.
