If he treated nfl players like this, imagine how badly he treated college kids.
That is what pisses me off the most. I feel sorry for those young kids having to experience someone like him.
Harbaugh coaching for the niners ran into similar issues and its why he was pushed out be our owner even with all his success. People don't remember how many injuries and how burned out our team was. We had a lot of players retire early. He treated players like they were college kids he could burn out for a couple years.

The more I hear about Meyer and his conduct, the more repellent he seems. Arrogant, abusive, incompetent, totally full of himself, and a petty dictator. I'm glad he can't get away from the image he created as the monumental flop in Jacksonville. There's some justice in that.
Yeah, but you know how this works. Some desperate college program will rehire him as head guy in a few years. Because at way too many places, winning is more important than basic human decency.

I graduated from the U of Utah and lived in SLC for a few years after while Meyer was coach and we all had no idea what a jerk he actually was. Social media has changed the game of outing people's poor decisions, bad behavior and stupid quotes that were previously in the past easier to bury away from the general public.

@@steveandersen2291 It happens in locker rooms, yes (I’ve had a few “tough guy” coaches), but rarely to this extent.
It was weird how we won more games than in 2020, yet it still felt like a worse season. Fucking embarrassing. I'm rarely a fan of firing a coach after just one season, but Meyer richly deserved it. Hopefully Pederson will be the guy for us, but even if he's not, he'll look like the Messiah next to Urban Meyer.
Even after last year, I still think 2011 was the worst season we ever had. They even won 5 games that year. Just goes to show that even winning mediocrely can be terrible.
And either weirder, Urban won against the Bills, and Bevell won the last game against the Colts, so thats two amazing wins in an awful season

That will probably change in spades this year. Organizational culture matters alot and obviously it was toxic while meyer was there for sure.
That had to be a tough introduction to the NFL for Trevor - he's really a class act - he kept a good attitude. Excited to see what he and the team does this season!
Not saying he can't improve bc he was a rookie last year but his decision making and ability to read the defense was terrible. I've only been surprised by one qb in the last 20 years not being what I thought they were at the start and that's Josh Allen.

It's actually really amazing trevor lawrence handled that situation so well.
Indeed. In the handful of post game interviews I saw, he struck me as keeping a good perspective, handling a bad situation and overall showing nice maturity. I would be shocked if he doesn't improve quite a bit this year.
That's a good point. I don't know how talented TL truly is or how successful he will be, but at least he remained calm and cool through a crazy situation. That says something very good about his character, leadership skills, and potential success.

@@system331 I too was worried about that. I did a little digging instead of just throwing my useless negative opinion out and apparently Kirk is a VERY good leader for the WR unit. So yeah even though hes not a true #1, the added benefit here is that he is still better than what we have and will be the leader of our very young and talented WR room.

It's been reported, when at Ohio State, that he told Burrow repeatedly that he threw like a girl. Joe transferred to LSU and we know the end of that story! Urban Myers was a bully boy at Ohio State. Probably throughout his college coaching career. Geeze, unbelievable!

Burrow is the real deal
Urban can recruit, but clearly he wants to run his program with him as some sort of unquestionable king. I think the next step is digging deeper into his collegiate escapades. You know it's out there.

It's definitely out there. But you have to dig deep since it's been so long. Fans of sec schools can probably remember alot of the old dirt from Florida before he retired the first time only to return to Ohio state, once problems started rising there he had his heart attacks and retired yet again. The only Difference now is that these guys are all professional paid athletes and they don't have to risk their million dollar hopes for letting the cat out of the bag like college players woukd have to consider.
Hi ability to recruit has probably taken a hit after this fiasco and all of the stories that have come from it.

Well just look at some of the players he had at Florida. Aaron Hernández, Percy Harvin, Even Cam Newton was at Florida for a season.

As a guy who works for just north of 15$ an HR, that was the most laughable thing I have ever heard. We would literally hire a cardboard box if it could fill out an application and wear the uniform.
Basically he was saying they'll only be good enough to be factory workers is what I got from it.And to make 20 dollars or more you have to be a supervisor or work at a car plant like Chrysler or Jeep and that's gonna take 5 or more years to get to that point

They get put in the worst situations for some of the worst organizations in not just football but at times all sports and everybody expects these young Qb’s to come in and be elite immediately. Former Coach Meyer brought the phrase "getting my glutes to fire" to an entirely new level.
In Meyer's case, his glutes didn't "activate"

I had a coach in high school who worked at Notre Dame with Meyer was there in the 80's. He said that Urban Meyer was the shadiest guy he had ever met in his entire life. When I reconnected with that coach 10-15 years down the road, towards the end of Meyer's tenure at Ohio State, he said "maybe he's gotten better, but I still stand by that statement."

Urban won two Naty's at Florida, but after Saban humiliated him in the SEC championship, he left the cupboard bare. They have never recovered and I will never respect him again!

As I am a fan of The Ohio State University football team and all of the sports I am somewhat overcome with sad emotion that a coach like this was at our school that long and still excelled and dominated the way he did and got away with it
