【Synopsis】During the Zheng dynasty in the vast ocean of Novoland, the seeking for a magical pearl which could be only obtained from a young Naga girl tears’, caused the slaughter of the Merfolk. For this reason, Hai Shi lost her parents and her whole Yu coastal village. During Hai Shi´s most critical moment she met Fang Zhu, the first official of the imperial court, Hai Shi then became Fang Zhu´s disciple. Not long after, Zheng dynasty´s imperial court falls into a great chaos at the same time conflicts with other kingdoms start. Meanwhile the emperor Chi Zhong Xu seems to be unable to keep the order in his court and looks like a self-indulgent ruler. But the persistent support from Fang Zhu allows the nation to see a new time of peace. Hai Shi then becomes the personal guard of the emperor and she starts to be interested in him, and some misunderstandings rise between them. When the emperor finds out that Hai Shi is a girl, he starts having feelings for her. Hai Shi will have to face her own feelings towards Fang Zhu and the emperor.

Korean dramas use to be a rave like 5-10 years ago, but NOT anymore. Chinese dramas are so much better now.
Lol it's the opposite for me. Chinese costume dramas are all the rave nowadays (like 5+ comes out every year) while Korean (historical) dramas are only just recently coming out again. I prefer watching costume/historical dramas so I'm hoping around~ Doesn't matter which country the drama is from; I just want good engaging storylines.

If you're wandering whether to watch it - watch it. This series is immaculate, but it's not about romance, it's more about Destiny, Loyalty, Betrayal and Love. It kind of reminded me of Game of Thrones, the fantasy, the characters, the story and the slogan:; 'All Men Must Die' heartbreaking, but incredible.

Just finished watching the last episode. Excellent drama, excellent OST, Yang Mi as usual is perfect, William Chan can be cool and cold, but also so cute when he smiling. For me the biggest surprise was Xu Kai Cheng. I didn't know anything about him before, but was so impressed by him that I start to watch "A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College".

Never seen William Chan in anything so hope to be pleasantly surprised. So far he seems kind but distant. Yang Mi is in many dramas and always does a good job. Really liked Kai Cheng in 'A Female Student arrives...' and hope he doesn't turn out to be a cruel and viscious emperor. Hard to tell so far from his entrance and Haishi's impression of him.
I saw William Chan in 'Lost Love In Times'. Gorgeous series, one of the best I've ever watched and I highly recommend it. Visually stunning, you'll know what I mean from the opening scene already.

I was hesitant to watch this drama because of Yang Mi. Yes, she is an absolute beauty but she doesn’t look like a 20 years old girl. However, the chemistry between her and handsome William Chan is fascinating so it makes it smooth. The story is interesting and the acting is on point. Thank you for the Eng Subs.
Of course, not many would look 10+ years younger. But the attitudes sure reminds me of Si Yin and Mo Yuam at Kunlun Mountain

This was so good! I just watched the whole thing in one day. The writer was very skilled at every episode. I aspire to be a better writer. The ENTIRE Cast was so awesome in playing their roles. Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Love, and Loyalty was truly seen in this during adversaries.
