This drama is not a sad one, it shows three different ending for love.. Emperor and Tilan died together Haishi’s brother and his GF happily married Haishi and Shifu can’t be together but love each other while holding their responsibilities... And it’s also a drama about brotherhood between Shifu and Emperor, sisterhood between Tilan and Haishi, Family bond between Shifu, haishi and her bro, Fatherly love from eunuch Mu towards emperor, all their love for their country.. Basically it’s a story about true love for every relationship.. 💖

That’s true this is a beautiful drama even though they had their hardships and difficulties even after that couldn’t be a legitimate couple for the rest of their lives. They did get to be a private couple spending time each day together which was beautiful
The reason they had to go through so much is to show how fragile and how important life is, in their era it must have been so hard to love because or so much war. My heart really goes out to those souls tbh.
Wow, what a great story, sad but great. Love William Chan and Yang Mi and the entire cast was perfect. To the writers and directors and staff, and all who worked hard to put this production together, y'all did a wonderful job.
When Jiangming shows up to protect his friend, flying in like a white dove - wow, I felt such relief. His quiet, calm presence is so fierce that you can see the enemy trembling. He's breathtaking. I'm 15 minutes in now and I'm so afraid that the good characters will die off, I'm almost afraid to keep watching. 😳🙈 Haishi is such a good fighter, she's at the same level as her master. They are the best of the best. The ending made me sad. I'm happy for Zhuoying and Zheliu - so glad they have a happy ending, they deserve it, but so sad for everyone else. Jianming is so loyal and full of duty; he did so much for his friend, his kingdom, and to preserve peace and righteousness. There are no words to describe his sacrifice. He and Haishi belong together but I'm heartbroken for them that they cannot be. Fate can be cruel sometimes. I think the best way to describe the ending would be 'bittersweet'. 💔💖 This is my first Yang Mi and William Chan drama - I thought they did a great job portraying their roles. Great drama overall, gave me a lot to think about. I will miss the characters.
The part where haishi tells the story of the what if they had live a different life and shows all of them as young individuals having no worry of their responsibilities made me so sad. They all deserve so much more
She witnessed the rebels kiIIing her husband. That image would've destroyed her, am glad she chose to go with him. But that was the most heartbreaking scene ever

I really have to commend Emperor Xu’s actor, and Tilan too, and all of the actors. They did a tremendous job. I really came to like Emperor Xu as a character, in the beginning you don’t get to appreciate him because he’s too cruel. But as the drama progresses you realize he’s a good hearted character. The moment he sympathized with Haishi over the pearl tax lets you understand he is a good judge of moral character. Fantastic actor, shame their couple had to die. Tilan loved him so much, she’s a sweetheart
that ending shot is perfect. the camera, the scenery and the lighting. the way his hair is slightly blown by the wind and as he catches the feather. so so so beautiful and such a great way to wrap the series up
This is definitely an award winning drama; BEST PICTURE, BEST ACTOR/ACTRESS, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, BEST COSTUME DESIGN, BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, BEST VISUAL EFFECTS, BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN and much, much more. I’m so glad that I had a few days off from work to watch the beginning to end in 3 days. I loved everything about this drama. But I especially loved the acting skills of Yang Mi, William Chan, Wang Sen (Fang Zhouying) and Xu Kaicheng. As always, Yang Mi’s acting skills are superb. She never disappoints me. I used to think that William Chan was a good actor but not great until this drama. He looks so good in black color hair instead of his colored brown/blond hair. In this drama, his emotionless facial expressions kept me wondering what he was thinking. That was so amazing. Wang Sen played Fang Zhouying. Not only is he very handsome, his acting was unbelievably outstanding. When he was playful with Haishi , his acting really showed that he was carefree and truly love his sister. When he was fighting in the battlefield, you can see the seriousness in his eyes and body language. When he was on the roof watching Zheuli, you can see how he was falling in love. Great acting. As for Xu Kaicheng, he portraying an emperor in this drama is probably his best acting thus far. His acting skills are so powerful that I truly believe that he IS an emperor even though I know this is just a drama. When he was angry, sad, mean, loving, sarcastic, fighting etc… one can see his facial expressions and body movements that he was truly angry, sad, mean loving and so forth. It’s nice to see an emperor who is tall, handsome and with the cutest smile. He deserves the BEST ACTOR award. I wished that this drama ended at episode 46 (with a little tweak). Everybody seem to be happy. Thank you Tencent for this great drama. Keep up the great work and keep coming up with such excellent and outstanding dramas.
For those who didn't understand it: Grand Mentor is Fang Jianming and the feather that Haishi looks at, a few minutes later landed on Jianming's palm. They are together but not openly. Beautiful and instructive drama! ❤️

Beautiful story, plots, character development, settings, costumes, and such talented actors. Wei-ting (William Chan) gave an excellent performance portraying a character that was offsetting to begin with, but totally in character of the role he was playing. That gorgeous smile, when it was allowed to appear, was like sunshine melting ice. Brilliant! Mi Yang also gave an outstanding performance as a maturing young lady, to almost matronly at the end. This is so much better than the poor quality of tv dramas produced here in the US. I'm very happy I stumbled across Chinese drama and I'm hooked. It also introduced me to my newest actor/singer idol, Chan Weiting - William Chan. I look forward to seeing more from him, especially in English.

Jiaming and the emperor's bond is unreal! Not a drop of blood between them, and with so many chances to misunderstand each other they stayed true and were steadfast in their affection for one other, they were more than brothers. Hands down the best thing about this entire drama, apart from Eunuch Mu ofc.
When someone whom you grew up with is willing to bear, literally, all your physical pain, the trust level is off the charts; the relationship can't help but to run deep!
My understanding they were just trying to do the best for the people they governed. Remember Shiffle was from a special bloodline and his predecessors were also Baixi's.
This C-drama was so well done, I can't believe it's finished and on a bitter-sweet ending but a well-deserved congratulations on the whole production! As an emperor his fate was already sealed... They say "heavy is the head that wears the crown", but Emperor Xu never wanted the throne he had to keep it to peace and for Dazheng. The little prince would also have a heavy head but the luck he might have is that his Godparents Haishi and jianming (however long he lives as a baixi) would make the crown seem a bit lighter on his head.
@@JarusaGThe prince said Jaiming's health was getting better. I've been thinking about this. The prince said Grand Mentor's health is better than years before. When he was baixi for Xu, his health never got better. My interpretation of his conversation with Haishi, is, the future for Haishi and Jaiming is positive. She is going with little prince to see Jaiming. Jaiming can always get into the palace. I think in the coming years, they may not be under the same roof, but they are still married and since his health is better, there should be no obstacles to them being together. I also think once the prince is old enough to rule independently, Jaiming can rescind baixi and he and Haishi can resume their retirement. Jaiming was also smiling.
To a certain extent, it's the perfect ending for them. If I'm not mistaken, at one point, when talking to Zizan, the emperor kind of asks her for forgiveness for intending to be with Tilan in the after life. That is an indication not that she replaced Zizan, which was his first love from youth, but he was able to develop deep, mature, love for Tilan who won not only his heart with infinite tenderness, but also his soul. Zizan was his first, pure love, Tilan was his soul mate.
I was doing so well with no tears until Jianming started tearing while talking to Haishi. The main actors as the Emperor, Jianming, Haishi, and eunuch Mu performances were outstanding. I just wished there could have been a happy together ending for Jianming and Haishi.
This drama was amazing from beginning till the end. Actors/actresses, crew, producers & directors did an outstanding job! This last episode had me in tears from all the courage, hardship, strength & love it possessed. Another great drama well done. ❤️🇺🇸
The evidence of how skilled the actors, directors, writers and production crew where in portraying each story-line is demonstrated in how invested each viewer became in the drama. So invested ,that like some viewers have expressed, its best to end the series at episode 46 where everyone had a seemingly happy ending. Its so heart wrenching to watch Emperor Xu fight with everything he had to protect his wife and child and more so to watch Consort Shurong chose to spare him more pain, take the hit and die with him. Kudos to everyone who played a part in bringing this story to us, the viewers. This is a drama that will become a classic for drama viewers, Hope to see the actors who protrayed the Emperor and Empress/Consort Shurong act as MLs in another drama (please keep them alive and give them a happy ending).❤
This whole story was so awesome. I could not hardly wait each morning for the new chapter to appear. The actors, the scenes, the written words and the music were Oscar material in my opinion. I can not name any one actor over another, but they all worked so fluidly together to give these superbly performances. Thank you for sharing this with me Vicky from America. PS. I understand responsibilities, but sometimes people take those responsibilities to the extreme and become so self-less that they deny themselves the many great joys in life; even the chance of love.
I've come to terms with the fact that historical C-dramas will never give me the perfect ending I want. They just have to always make me cry and wish certain characters didn't die....I mean, look at The Princess Weiyong, Nirvana in Fire, Joy of life, The story of Yanxi palace, now this. Anyway, it's always worth the watch, I mean, the plot twists and roler coaster of emotions and all the things we get to learn about life. This was such an amazing story with lessons of trust, destiny, love and friendship all linked in together. I'm so glad the writers allowed William Chan to live even tho they were not together. The death of the new prince's parents was hard for me to watch but the king's love for his wife and his unborn baby was royal! That scene when Jianming. looked up when the baby's life was hanging and he knew he would be his Baixi was remarkable, I felt he was looking at me :-). When Hashi imagined life as a commoner with Jianming, that was so revealing of the sacrifices they made to be in the royal and elite circle they were in. The ending with that look back from Jianming with hair blowing in the wind was everything! -Mell from America
This is just a little pet peeve of mine - using the actor's actual name when referring to the character they acted. It makes people unconsciously think they're the same person.
Was Jianming alive at the end, or did the feather float across space in time back into the past when he was live, like Haishi said could happen as Jianming breathed his last words on her lap after becoming the baby's Baixi? What is a Baixi? I'd guessed he gave up his remaining life force to save the baby.
@@detodosmoles Yes, he was alive at the end. Tho normally I google definitions/words I'm not familiar with, I yielded with this drama. My understanding of Baixi was the ability to take the pain, injuries or death of the other agreed-upon person to your body instead of to the intended body. It looked like he died when he was held by his wife Haishi, but maybe he fainted, which is what I also prefer to believe. 💗
Such a beautiful story! I’m glad that jianming is alive and Haishi is a great queen but very heartbroken that the emperor and Tilan didn’t get to live their life together with their baby😭😭
The Grand Mentor and Shifu are the same, he is alive. He is wearing a mask to disguise his identity since he was proclaimed dead. He kept his promise to the emperor about his baby. Haven't stopped crying since the scene where his hand falls to the floor. Seeing he is still alive at the end, but he can't be with her is heartbreaking.
Everything is beautiful. At first I was not very drawn to the masters very special features but at the end I just see him so beautiful inside out. The Emperor is beautiful, the consorts, the costumes, settings, friendships, devotions etc...even the men s wigs 😂 loved it ❤❤❤
It pained me to no end watching the sweet Tilan try to protect her husband but knowing she'd die with him. She truly chose him to the very end and kept her promise to "never leave him alone". Haishi lost her husband too but she knew it was the right thing to do and she needed to be strong for the country and the little prince. Indeed this is a story of love and sacrifice.
And what can I say Yang mi's fighting scene was wow, amazing. And I swear when ever they vote for the best female baddest lead in Chinese drama Yang mi will be my best approval 😍😍😍😍
This movie is sensational. I'm sad to see it end. This last episode moved me to tears. All the actors were phenomenal and even though it ended happy for only one couple, I don't regret watching this drama😘💕 Many thanks to all the actors, actresses, production team, and tencent videos for bringing us this awesome drama.

I feel the same way too. I love the actors here. but I am not sure if I want to invest my time to watch 48 eps then the ending is sad. I don't get it with C-drama tho, why they like sad ending. Eternal love of dream and peach blossom so far are the only one that make me happy with the ending. Although I understand not always drama has to end up with happy ending, but I wish tho C-drama has more happy ending rather that sad ending.

That was very emotional. But we didn't see Mu Deqing at the end. I thought he would continue serving Fang Haishi and the little Emperor but he wasn't in court when Fang Haishi took the throne.
I never cried so much watching any drama series as this one. Beautiful work, amazing acting, writing and production. Jianming, Haishi and her brother, Xu were all amazing.

This is undoubtedly one of the few BEST costume drama I have watched!! Excellent storyline, excellent translation of what probably is a very good script, exquisite costumes and accessories, very good actors and actresses and thank heavens for just one short lived silly maid and a strong and mostly sensible heroine. Although the king and Tilan sadly died, I'm satisfied with this ending. After a couple slow episodes, the storm was bound too come. And boy, did it ever! I just wish the general who decided to call for battle would know the truth, that Tilan was not tortured by the king, unlike what her brother told him. I also like how it ended with Fang Jianming wearing the mask. It's what his bloodline does, to sacrifice and protect the king at all costs. Hopefully, he and Haishi can still secretly have a relationship, and their own kids someday... but then again, maybe that's not a good thing, as their kids will become the next Baixi to the king. Excellent drama with amazing costumes, cast, and cinematography. 10/10!
My god I cried like crazy when Xu and Tilan died together. I know it seemed like it was building up to it but I did not expect them to die. The moment Xu was pierced by ten blades I was heartbroken, while his baby was born, and then Tilan followed soon after. I was upset they didn’t have more protection, why did it have to be that way. I know haishi and jianming couldn’t save them but I wish they could’ve waited a little more before they left so they could help, maybe the emperor and empress and their child could be together. 😢
Xu was so afraid of losing his love again that he became desperate. I completely understand that. Plus, if they had survived, Xu would be so conflicted because Tilan’s father and brother were the mastermind behind the rebellion.
@@ceda I think Xu was also tired of being the emperor. It was one long, non-stop fight for him and he was constantly worried about not being able to protect what little happiness he had. Tilan would have had to live among the people who had killed her love, would probably have lost the baby without Jianming to help them and would most likely be given to that general as a reward for his services whether she wanted that or not. This was probably the best option for her and was a great balm on poor Xu's heart to at least know she had never betrayed him and was totally committed to him. Cried as I typed this though and sobbed hard when I watched the episode. With the story we were given this seemed the best ending but oh how I wish the last few episodes hadn't led to this.
Well that was extremely painful but awesome 😭 The war scenes were so incredible👏 Emperor and Princess Tilan watching over there boy 🥺 Zhuoying and Zheliu so happy 😭 Haishi and Jianming taking care of little emperor 💞 This was one of the Best Dramas I have ever seen and really hope all associated with it are rewarded 🏆💜😭

Emperor Xu n Tilan...😭😭😭😭 he loved her so much. Fang Jianming n Fang Haisi...😭😭😭😭😭😭 so sad their love only lasted for a short time. But they both are Emperor Xu's most loyal subordinates. They sacrificed their love for the ppl n the new born prince. So sad. My heart is torn for these 2 couples. I'm glad Fang Zhouying was able to unite with his sweetheart. N don't forget commander Shaozi. He also a loyal commander n credit to all the casts. Did awesome job. This what u call a high end film. Salute !
This was an amazing drama indeed. But I'll will not deny that I shed tears. Well...I'm thinking, It was good that the baixi between Xu and Jianming was terminated, otherwise the emperor could not have passed with Tilan. If he had to go on living with a second love lost, chances are he would've gone mad. :( I liked the "ancient" portrayal of customs and etiquette. I just couldn't figure how such polite people could be so scheming and treacherous. We've also got to witness close knit friendships and alliances, that gave our hearts wings. There's some beautiful scenery also, would be nice to see it live/in person. Oh and I admired Jianming's handwriting. :) . The actors were great, even the ones in supporting roles, couldn't praise one without praising them all! Thank you for the series! Prosperity and good health to all!.
I’ve watched this early morning Novoland: Pearl Eclipse ,. This is quite a tearjerker episode, but I cannot “move my hand 🖐 to write” -- paralyze of disbelief and shock. The death, misconstrued understanding,, greed and power, lying, manipulation, grudges and revenge-- the LOVE STILL REIGN NO MATTER WHAT 😢❤️.. Mu Deqing’s LOYALTY to his Majesty was the First cry I rendered . His face was full of sorrow, the expression of helplessness, especially when-he called out his Majesty pulling the carriage for Tilan and would be baby. Emperor Xu told him that he doesn’t have to go with him. He said,” I’ll go wherever you go”. They NODDED @ EACH OTHER WITH HONEST UNDERSTANDING & the Emperor added” If I die, carry enough money with/ for you”. THE ACTING OF ALL PERFORMERS ARE ALL AT PAR. THE Emperor’s Love ❤️ & Care for Tilan and the would be baby was so believable and heartbreaking ❤️. The scene when the Emperor showed up to save them @ the mansion of Lord Chang, the actress’s cry 😢 was very contagious and her voice was very soft and full of love. Tilan -- I just love your resilience. and her shaky voice , it added substance to her acting. The Emperor’s PROTECTIVE INSTINCT WAS TOTALLY OVERDRIVE OVER TILAN’S SAFETY. Before TILAN Drew her LAST BREATH and reminded her husband , “ I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU, FOR YOU, ‘TILL DEATH DO US PART.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢MY, GOSH THE FEELING OF LOST❤️, TOO MUCH TO BEAR, SO TRAGIC. THE SCENE OF where his Majesty was dying with Tilan in his arms, Fang Jianming ‘s said to him, “YOU MUST LIVE FOR US”. The Emperor replied, “ I’M TIRED” and he expires. Lord Qinghai’s Presence was so Magnificent when he battled with the rebels,, scheming & spy Supervisor Shii where he got decapitated by the Sword of Master. 👏👏👏👏The acting of the male protagonist was so excellent, you can Picture the fire of Anger on his face expression. Madam’s Pearl Confrontation with Tang Qiazi ( Unrequited Love ❤️ to Tilan) was VERY DRAMATIC. SHE WAS SO SUPERB AND IMPECCABLE PERFORMANCE. When Haishi LEARNED THAT MASTER BECOMES WEIYU’S BAIXI ( young emperor) . I am really happy for 'discovering' the Chinese Drama tv series!! From the very first one that I watched, The Wolf, to the very last one, Novoland,I am stunned and in awe!! Loved the stories, the sceneries, the characters , the actors.......They are deep and profound with values, ethics without lacking the action, the agony, the tension....they are full of emotions!!! So far, they all had one thing in common. A baffling, confusing , sad or not that happy ending that could be interpreted differently! Actually, all the Dramas that I watched except one! Eternal Love: Ten miles of peach blossoms!!!! That one had the perfect ending for me, I really loved that ending!!!!! LOOVEED IT!!!
To a certain extent, although sad it's the perfect ending for the emperor and Tilan. If I'm not mistaken, at one point, when talking to Zizan, the emperor kind of asks her for forgiveness for intending to be with Tilan in the after life. That is an indication not that she replaced Zizan, which was his first love from youth, but he was able to develop deep, mature, love for Tilan who won not only his heart with infinite tenderness, but also his soul. Zizan was his first, pure love, Tilan was his soul mate.
Best Actors and Actresses. I have seen Yang Mi on other show. She is very good on her lead. However, William Chan and Xu Kaicheng are very good on this show. Many thanks for the English Translation. When that rebel (Shi Lin) tried to run away for his life, he was looking back and did not see the sword that Jianming throw that stuck on the wood blocking his way, he went through the sword and it cut his head. The cut was so clean and it looked real. Amazing shot.
I cried when Xu and Tilan died ( I had hoped that they would live together happily 😞) This drama portrayed such a beautiful plot with different lessons. The ost is so beautiful too. This series is worth watching.
This movie is just awesome! Everyone involved in producing this movie played his/her role excellently. I don't think I can't get tired of watching this movie again and again. I love the 'Fangs'; Great family even when they aren't related, the bond is strong. Their intelligence and smartness is beyond comprehension. 'Master' as Haishi and her brother would call you. I love you scatter😄. You're a great actor.🤩 I learnt, resilience, loyalty, LOVE, care for others, be informed about every and anything, take care of anything entrusted in your care and many more. I love everything about this work but where Xu and Zilan died, so got to me.
I'm so happy Jaimaing Fang(master) didn't die. But I feel so sorry for Haishi(madam pearl) that she and master won't spend the rest of their lives as couple; free and happy like every other couple. However, he is alive and close to her, is a good thing. Being the baby's Baixai again????? Well, that Shows the love he has for Xu and his kingdom. Jaimaing sacrificed so much including his love life and his LIFE. I love this movie in earnest.

Yeah but that kid stands for a lot, the future of the kingdom, the promise of a friend, and the obstruction to haishi and jiaming future together. I am kind of mad but it shows those two are capable of making difficult choices that also impede their ultimate happiness. But they found peace with it, I would take a long time....a real long time.
This has been a well written story. Revetting plots and brilliant lead actors. Haishi played amazing action and drama. what a great actress. Janming is deprived melancholy character often frustrating to watch. It has been a truly captivating binge viewing. Haizi never disappoint in movies/tv series she’s been part of. She’s a gem of Chinese entertainment industry.

Return of a prince . Good "evil" plots . Multiple enemies (Different agendas) .Love without barriers .First peaceful harem . Dedicated servants (also smart) . Brotherhood in battle . Please, let's not forget the first Prenup ever in an ancient movie. The scene was perfection. Am just totally floored. Also, can the character of Tang, stop pinning after others wives (Just saw 'The King's Woman' before this) and I love it when the character of Emperor Xu gives in to love (saw 'A female student arrives at the imperial college' previous to that), his smile is just... Divine. Please, do I have to mention what a great actress Empress/Madam Pearl/Mrs Fang is (fell in love with her from 'Enternal Love'.) Well, congratulations. You just upgraded my expectations. I have no idea if I can see another movie to get me out of this emotional Flunk. About to watch 'Love like the galaxy', my girl Zhao Lusi should improve my mood. Great job you all. PS: Still crying 😭

Wow! Not quite the happy ending I was hoping for, but I can deal with it. The acting is definitely way above the other dramas I've watched since I'm new to Chinese dramas. Yang Mi is gorgeous, and I'm totally fan-girling on her. First Chinese drama I ever watched was 2 months ago, Eternal Love, and she was in it and I've been hooked ever since on C-dramas. I've watched maybe 15-20 of them now, but when Yang Mi is in them, they tend to be so much higher quality in plot, content, and acting.

Not sure why these ancient or historical TV shows must always be tragic. Before I started watching it I knew it will have a tragic ending bc they always do. Some of them do I think I've encountered only two that have sad endings but you may be right those could have been costume dramas not historical, the historical ones are darker in their endings like princess weiyoung. I hated that ending too.
Bravo bravo to the entire team of novoland pearl eclipse 👏👏 this is masterpiece. The production quality, sound track was extremely well done. The fighting scenes had me screaming Yangmi..fighting scenes were beautifully executed 🔥🔥. I am so happy for the huge success of this drama. Great acting from the main leads. Special shout out to William chan, yangmi and the emperor...they nailed their parts and completely understood the assignment 😂

Yes, a bittersweet ending, but Haishi would rock as Empress, and I think she would have got bored in their seaside cottage doing nothing but chillin' . Hopefully she can sneak in the odd rendezvous with the tutor 😍
I think she would have liked a peaceful life with jiaming but because they clearly are magnets for other peoples responsibilities and also like to shoulder them (also cant blame them for being good and efficient at those jobs) that serenity wouldn't have lasted. I hope she can in a sense remarry jiaming so she can publically be seen with him or like you said a rendezvous or many.
An interesting meaningful and enthralling movie. Loved it though the finale was bitter-sweet. Congratulations to all the actors and actresses and the production team for the great efforts . This episode is the roller coaster of emotions. Although the ending is sad but they projected it in most realistic way. The thought that "we can't change our fate" no matter what hit me really hard. My fav character has been the emperor since beginning. I legit cried in this episode. That's all.
Wonderful; tragic that Tilan and the Emperor died but he died in battle for a good cause. Such a beautiful drama, I have enjoyed every moment. I enjoy Yang Mi and William Chan's work: I have seen them in other dramas and they were equally admirable in this. Such an adventure and such a heroic tale.
Great story with amazing endings. Different versions for each love It’s understandable why the king did not want to get the help because he would have not been able to move on after tilans death. I knew haishi would become the empress it literally foreshadowed it in the first episode. I barely cried on this one but I’m happy. Great work as always.

When Jiangming shows up to protect his friend, flying in like a white dove - wow, I felt such relief. His quiet, calm presence is so fierce that you can see the enemy trembling. He's breathtaking. I'm 15 minutes in now and I'm so afraid that the good characters will die off, I'm almost afraid to keep watching. 😳🙈 Haishi is such a good fighter, she's at the same level as her master. They are the best of the best.
The ending made me sad. I'm happy for Zhuoying and Zheliu - so glad they have a happy ending, they deserve it, but so sad for everyone else. Jianming is so loyal and full of duty; he did so much for his friend, his kingdom, and to preserve peace and righteousness. There are no words to describe his sacrifice. He and Haishi belong together but I'm heartbroken for them that they cannot be. Fate can be cruel sometimes. I think the best way to describe the ending would be 'bittersweet'. 💔💖 This is my first Yang Mi and William Chan drama - I thought they did a great job portraying their roles. Great drama overall, gave me a lot to think about. I will miss the characters.

I really have to commend Emperor Xu’s actor, and Tilan too, and all of the actors. They did a tremendous job. I really came to like Emperor Xu as a character, in the beginning you don’t get to appreciate him because he’s too cruel. But as the drama progresses you realize he’s a good hearted character. The moment he sympathized with Haishi over the pearl tax lets you understand he is a good judge of moral character. Fantastic actor, shame their couple had to die. Tilan loved him so much, she’s a sweetheart

This is definitely an award winning drama; BEST PICTURE, BEST ACTOR/ACTRESS, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY, BEST COSTUME DESIGN, BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, BEST VISUAL EFFECTS, BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN and much, much more. I’m so glad that I had a few days off from work to watch the beginning to end in 3 days. I loved everything about this drama. But I especially loved the acting skills of Yang Mi, William Chan, Wang Sen (Fang Zhouying) and Xu Kaicheng. As always, Yang Mi’s acting skills are superb. She never disappoints me. I used to think that William Chan was a good actor but not great until this drama. He looks so good in black color hair instead of his colored brown/blond hair. In this drama, his emotionless facial expressions kept me wondering what he was thinking. That was so amazing. Wang Sen played Fang Zhouying. Not only is he very handsome, his acting was unbelievably outstanding. When he was playful with Haishi , his acting really showed that he was carefree and truly love his sister. When he was fighting in the battlefield, you can see the seriousness in his eyes and body language. When he was on the roof watching Zheuli, you can see how he was falling in love. Great acting. As for Xu Kaicheng, he portraying an emperor in this drama is probably his best acting thus far. His acting skills are so powerful that I truly believe that he IS an emperor even though I know this is just a drama. When he was angry, sad, mean, loving, sarcastic, fighting etc… one can see his facial expressions and body movements that he was truly angry, sad, mean loving and so forth. It’s nice to see an emperor who is tall, handsome and with the cutest smile. He deserves the BEST ACTOR award.
I wished that this drama ended at episode 46 (with a little tweak). Everybody seem to be happy.

For those who didn't understand it: Grand Mentor is Fang Jianming and the feather that Haishi looks at, a few minutes later landed on Jianming's palm. They are together but not openly. Beautiful and instructive drama! ❤️

Beautiful story, plots, character development, settings, costumes, and such talented actors. Wei-ting (William Chan) gave an excellent performance portraying a character that was offsetting to begin with, but totally in character of the role he was playing. That gorgeous smile, when it was allowed to appear, was like sunshine melting ice. Brilliant! Mi Yang also gave an outstanding performance as a maturing young lady, to almost matronly at the end.
This is so much better than the poor quality of tv dramas produced here in the US. I'm very happy I stumbled across Chinese drama and I'm hooked. It also introduced me to my newest actor/singer idol, Chan Weiting - William Chan. I look forward to seeing more from him, especially in English.

Jiaming and the emperor's bond is unreal! Not a drop of blood between them, and with so many chances to misunderstand each other they stayed true and were steadfast in their affection for one other, they were more than brothers. Hands down the best thing about this entire drama, apart from Eunuch Mu ofc.

My understanding they were just trying to do the best for the people they governed. Remember Shiffle was from a special bloodline and his predecessors were also Baixi's.

As an emperor his fate was already sealed... They say "heavy is the head that wears the crown", but Emperor Xu never wanted the throne he had to keep it to peace and for Dazheng. The little prince would also have a heavy head but the luck he might have is that his Godparents Haishi and jianming (however long he lives as a baixi) would make the crown seem a bit lighter on his head.
If Jianming was there, they wouldn't have gotten this far.

When he was baixi for Xu, his health never got better. My interpretation of his conversation with Haishi, is, the future for Haishi and Jaiming is positive. She is going with little prince to see Jaiming. Jaiming can always get into the palace. I think in the coming years, they may not be under the same roof, but they are still married and since his health is better, there should be no obstacles to them being together. I also think once the prince is old enough to rule independently, Jaiming can rescind baixi and he and Haishi can resume their retirement. Jaiming was also smiling.

I was doing so well with no tears until Jianming started tearing while talking to Haishi. The main actors as the Emperor, Jianming, Haishi, and eunuch Mu performances were outstanding. I just wished there could have been a happy together ending for Jianming and Haishi.

The evidence of how skilled the actors, directors, writers and production crew where in portraying each story-line is demonstrated in how invested each viewer became in the drama. So invested ,that like some viewers have expressed, its best to end the series at episode 46 where everyone had a seemingly happy ending. Its so heart wrenching to watch Emperor Xu fight with everything he had to protect his wife and child and more so to watch Consort Shurong chose to spare him more pain, take the hit and die with him. Kudos to everyone who played a part in bringing this story to us, the viewers. This is a drama that will become a classic for drama viewers, Hope to see the actors who protrayed the Emperor and Empress/Consort Shurong act as MLs in another drama (please keep them alive and give them a happy ending).❤

I understand responsibilities, but sometimes people take those responsibilities to the extreme and become so self-less that they deny themselves the many great joys in life; even the chance of love.
I've come to terms with the fact that historical C-dramas will never give me the perfect ending I want. They just have to always make me cry and wish certain characters didn't die....I mean, look at The Princess Weiyong, Nirvana in Fire, Joy of life, The story of Yanxi palace, now this. Anyway, it's always worth the watch, I mean, the plot twists and roler coaster of emotions and all the things we get to learn about life. Thanks to all the cast and crew of this drama for entertaining and educating us. Till the next one...byeeee
This was such an amazing story with lessons of trust, destiny, love and friendship all linked in together. I'm so glad the writers allowed William Chan to live even tho they were not together. The death of the new prince's parents was hard for me to watch but the king's love for his wife and his unborn baby was royal! That scene when Jianming. looked up when the baby's life was hanging and he knew he would be his Baixi was remarkable, I felt he was looking at me :-). When Hashi imagined life as a commoner with Jianming, that was so revealing of the sacrifices they made to be in the royal and elite circle they were in. The ending with that look back from Jianming with hair blowing in the wind was everything! -Mell from America

This is just a little pet peeve of mine - using the actor's actual name when referring to the character they acted. It makes people unconsciously think they're the same person.
Was Jianming alive at the end, or did the feather float across space in time back into the past when he was live, like Haishi said could happen as Jianming breathed his last words on her lap after becoming the baby's Baixi? What is a Baixi? I'd guessed he gave up his remaining life force to save the baby.
@@detodosmoles Yes, he was alive at the end. Tho normally I google definitions/words I'm not familiar with, I yielded with this drama. My understanding of Baixi was the ability to take the pain, injuries or death of the other agreed-upon person to your body instead of to the intended body. It looked like he died when he was held by his wife Haishi, but maybe he fainted, which is what I also prefer to believe. 💗
Such a beautiful story! I’m glad that jianming is alive and Haishi is a great queen but very heartbroken that the emperor and Tilan didn’t get to live their life together with their baby😭😭
The Grand Mentor and Shifu are the same, he is alive. He is wearing a mask to disguise his identity since he was proclaimed dead. He kept his promise to the emperor about his baby. Haven't stopped crying since the scene where his hand falls to the floor. Seeing he is still alive at the end, but he can't be with her is heartbreaking.

Everything is beautiful. At first I was not very drawn to the masters very special features but at the end I just see him so beautiful inside out. The Emperor is beautiful, the consorts, the costumes, settings, friendships, devotions etc...even the men s wigs 😂 loved it ❤❤❤

It pained me to no end watching the sweet Tilan try to protect her husband but knowing she'd die with him. She truly chose him to the very end and kept her promise to "never leave him alone". Haishi lost her husband too but she knew it was the right thing to do and she needed to be strong for the country and the little prince. Indeed this is a story of love and sacrifice.
And what can I say Yang mi's fighting scene was wow, amazing. And I swear when ever they vote for the best female baddest lead in Chinese drama Yang mi will be my best approval 😍😍😍😍
This movie is sensational. I'm sad to see it end. This last episode moved me to tears. All the actors were phenomenal and even though it ended happy for only one couple, I don't regret watching this drama😘💕

I feel the same way too. I love the actors here. but I am not sure if I want to invest my time to watch 48 eps then the ending is sad. I don't get it with C-drama tho, why they like sad ending. Eternal love of dream and peach blossom so far are the only one that make me happy with the ending. Although I understand not always drama has to end up with happy ending, but I wish tho C-drama has more happy ending rather that sad ending.

That was very emotional. But we didn't see Mu Deqing at the end. I thought he would continue serving Fang Haishi and the little Emperor but he wasn't in court when Fang Haishi took the throne.
I never cried so much watching any drama series as this one. Beautiful work, amazing acting, writing and production. Jianming, Haishi and her brother, Xu were all amazing.

This is undoubtedly one of the few BEST costume drama I have watched!! Excellent storyline, excellent translation of what probably is a very good script, exquisite costumes and accessories, very good actors and actresses and thank heavens for just one short lived silly maid and a strong and mostly sensible heroine. Although the king and Tilan sadly died, I'm satisfied with this ending. After a couple slow episodes, the storm was bound too come. And boy, did it ever! I just wish the general who decided to call for battle would know the truth, that Tilan was not tortured by the king, unlike what her brother told him. I also like how it ended with Fang Jianming wearing the mask. It's what his bloodline does, to sacrifice and protect the king at all costs. Hopefully, he and Haishi can still secretly have a relationship, and their own kids someday... but then again, maybe that's not a good thing, as their kids will become the next Baixi to the king. Excellent drama with amazing costumes, cast, and cinematography. 10/10!

My god I cried like crazy when Xu and Tilan died together. I know it seemed like it was building up to it but I did not expect them to die. The moment Xu was pierced by ten blades I was heartbroken, while his baby was born, and then Tilan followed soon after. I was upset they didn’t have more protection, why did it have to be that way. I know haishi and jianming couldn’t save them but I wish they could’ve waited a little more before they left so they could help, maybe the emperor and empress and their child could be together. 😢
Xu was so afraid of losing his love again that he became desperate. I completely understand that. Plus, if they had survived, Xu would be so conflicted because Tilan’s father and brother were the mastermind behind the rebellion.

@@ceda I think Xu was also tired of being the emperor. It was one long, non-stop fight for him and he was constantly worried about not being able to protect what little happiness he had. Tilan would have had to live among the people who had killed her love, would probably have lost the baby without Jianming to help them and would most likely be given to that general as a reward for his services whether she wanted that or not. This was probably the best option for her and was a great balm on poor Xu's heart to at least know she had never betrayed him and was totally committed to him. Cried as I typed this though and sobbed hard when I watched the episode. With the story we were given this seemed the best ending but oh how I wish the last few episodes hadn't led to this.

They sacrificed their love for the ppl n the new born prince. So sad. My heart is torn for these 2 couples. I'm glad Fang Zhouying was able to unite with his sweetheart. ok. this entire series has me crying, with mixed emotions. Am sad Zainming and Haishi didn't have their happy ending, but atleast Zheliu and Zoughang got there's. Sad. Great acting by all, even the villains. I thank the translating team, they were on point. costume, stunts. ohh. am in love with this drama. Always a pleasure seeing Yang Mi and William Chan act and the emperor Xu Kai Cheng. Please Tencent bring more happy ending series though. love this series. will definitely watch again.
Well...I'm thinking, It was good that the baixi between Xu and Jianming was terminated, otherwise the emperor could not have passed with Tilan. If he had to go on living with a second love lost, chances are he would've gone mad. :(
I liked the "ancient" portrayal of customs and etiquette. I just couldn't figure how such polite people could be so scheming and treacherous.
We've also got to witness close knit friendships and alliances, that gave our hearts wings.
There's some beautiful scenery also, would be nice to see it live/in person.
Oh and I admired Jianming's handwriting. :) .
The actors were great, even the ones in supporting roles, couldn't praise one without praising them all!

I’ve watched this early morning Novoland: Pearl Eclipse ,. This is quite a tearjerker episode, but I cannot “move my hand 🖐 to write” -- paralyze of disbelief and shock. The death, misconstrued understanding,, greed and power, lying, manipulation, grudges and revenge-- the LOVE STILL REIGN NO MATTER WHAT 😢❤️..
Mu Deqing’s LOYALTY to his Majesty was the First cry I rendered . His face was full of sorrow, the expression of helplessness, especially when-he called out his Majesty pulling the carriage for Tilan and would be baby. Emperor Xu told him that he doesn’t have to go with him. He said,” I’ll go wherever you go”. They NODDED @ EACH OTHER WITH HONEST UNDERSTANDING & the Emperor added” If I die, carry enough money with/ for you”.
THE ACTING OF ALL PERFORMERS ARE ALL AT PAR. THE Emperor’s Love ❤️ & Care for Tilan and the would be baby was so believable and heartbreaking ❤️. The scene when the Emperor showed up to save them @ the mansion of Lord Chang, the actress’s cry 😢 was very contagious and her voice was very soft and full of love. Tilan -- I just love your resilience. and her shaky voice , it added substance to her acting.
The Emperor’s PROTECTIVE INSTINCT WAS TOTALLY OVERDRIVE OVER TILAN’S SAFETY. Before TILAN Drew her LAST BREATH and reminded her husband , “ I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU, FOR YOU, ‘TILL DEATH DO US PART.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢MY, GOSH THE FEELING OF LOST❤️, TOO MUCH TO BEAR, SO TRAGIC.
THE SCENE OF where his Majesty was dying with Tilan in his arms, Fang Jianming ‘s said to him, “YOU MUST LIVE FOR US”. The Emperor replied, “ I’M TIRED” and he expires.
Lord Qinghai’s Presence was so Magnificent when he battled with the rebels,, scheming & spy Supervisor Shii where he got decapitated by the Sword of Master. 👏👏👏👏The acting of the male protagonist was so excellent, you can Picture the fire of Anger on his face expression.
Madam’s Pearl Confrontation with Tang Qiazi ( Unrequited Love ❤️ to Tilan) was VERY DRAMATIC. SHE WAS SO SUPERB AND IMPECCABLE PERFORMANCE.
When Haishi LEARNED THAT MASTER BECOMES WEIYU’S BAIXI ( young emperor) . Their EXCHANGE OF GLANCES WAS SO PAINFUL , DEVASTATING TO LOOK AT, TO ACCEPT WHILE THEY WERE TALKING , YANG MI’S CONTROL OF THE CRYING MOMENT-- So Remarkably 😢heartbreaking, especially when they’re Both reminiscing of , “ WHAT IF.........Or ONLY we’ve met earlier?

I am really happy for 'discovering' the Chinese Drama tv series!! From the very first one that I watched, The Wolf, to the very last one, Novoland,I am stunned and in awe!! Loved the stories, the sceneries, the characters , the actors.......They are deep and profound with values, ethics without lacking the action, the agony, the tension....they are full of emotions!!! So far, they all had one thing in common. A baffling, confusing , sad or not that happy ending that could be interpreted differently! Actually, all the Dramas that I watched except one! Eternal Love: Ten miles of peach blossoms!!!! That one had the perfect ending for me, I really loved that ending!!!!! LOOVEED IT!!!
To a certain extent, although sad it's the perfect ending for the emperor and Tilan. If I'm not mistaken, at one point, when talking to Zizan, the emperor kind of asks her for forgiveness for intending to be with Tilan in the after life. That is an indication not that she replaced Zizan, which was his first love from youth, but he was able to develop deep, mature, love for Tilan who won not only his heart with infinite tenderness, but also his soul. Zizan was his first, pure love, Tilan was his soul mate.
Best Actors and Actresses. I have seen Yang Mi on other show. She is very good on her lead. However, William Chan and Xu Kaicheng are very good on this show. Many thanks for the English Translation. This show has good morale and virtue, especially for Jianming, the Emperor, and Haishi. GREAT SCRIPT WRITER!!!👍💝
😢 Terrible relatives, in-laws, and out-laws (the maids and secret admirer), all they ever want are their pieces of the pie. They never know and never love Princess Tilan, the Emperor, and their Baby. The Emperor was so broken after Zizan's death. It took him so long to show his love to Tilan. They finally had a real family, but the relatives came to destroy it. 😭💔
After everything she went through, the pain and heartache she still didn’t get to share a life with him to raise her own family etc. Brilliant series thank you all concerned in making this of this series.
When that rebel (Shi Lin) tried to run away for his life, he was looking back and did not see the sword that Jianming throw that stuck on the wood blocking his way, he went through the sword and it cut his head. The cut was so clean and it looked real. Amazing shot.

Yeah but that kid stands for a lot, the future of the kingdom, the promise of a friend, and the obstruction to haishi and jiaming future together. I am kind of mad but it shows those two are capable of making difficult choices that also impede their ultimate happiness. But they found peace with it, I would take a long time....a real long time.
This has been a well written story. Revetting plots and brilliant lead actors. Haishi played amazing action and drama. what a great actress. Janming is deprived melancholy character often frustrating to watch. It has been a truly captivating binge viewing. Haizi never disappoint in movies/tv series she’s been part of. She’s a gem of Chinese entertainment industry.

Divine. Please, do I have to mention what a great actress Empress/Madam Pearl/Mrs Fang is (fell in love with her from 'Enternal Love'.)
Well, congratulations. You just upgraded my expectations. I have no idea if I can see another movie to get me out of this emotional Flunk.

Wow! Not quite the happy ending I was hoping for, but I can deal with it. The acting is definitely way above the other dramas I've watched since I'm new to Chinese dramas. Yang Mi is gorgeous, and I'm totally fan-girling on her. First Chinese drama I ever watched was 2 months ago, Eternal Love, and she was in it and I've been hooked ever since on C-dramas. I've watched maybe 15-20 of them now, but when Yang Mi is in them, they tend to be so much higher quality in plot, content, and acting.

Beautiful series. Great acting. Handsome and beautiful people. Lovely dressings. I admire every single thing in this series. Congratulations for a job well done. Not sure why these ancient or historical TV shows must always be tragic. Before I started watching it I knew it will have a tragic ending bc they always do. I have watched a lot of them and they are so good but they leave me heartbroken 💔 😔 😢 😞 😪 🤧 💔 all the time.

Yeah, same here. At least the Korean dramas tend to have happy endings.
Some of them do I think I've encountered only two that have sad endings but you may be right those could have been costume dramas not historical, the historical ones are darker in their endings like princess weiyoung. I hated that ending too.
Not all. Go to the last episode and read the comments. There are many with better endings.
Bravo bravo to the entire team of novoland pearl eclipse 👏👏 this is masterpiece. The production quality, sound track was extremely well done. The fighting scenes had me screaming Yangmi..fighting scenes were beautifully executed 🔥🔥. I am so happy for the huge success of this drama. Great acting from the main leads. Special shout out to William chan, yangmi and the emperor...they nailed their parts and completely understood the assignment 😂

My heart 😭💜 I'm so grateful for this series and sad to see it end. It was amazing to see the emperor fight in one last epic battle, thought my heart aches at his and Tilan's death. I would be so happy to see a season two ~ especially in hopes for a happy ending between Haishi and Jianming. What a beautiful story with so many layers of love, friendship, and personal growth 🌿 ✨ thank you to all who helped make this series 🙏 I'm so glad I happened to watch it
Yes, a bittersweet ending, but Haishi would rock as Empress, and I think she would have got bored in their seaside cottage doing nothing but chillin' . Hopefully she can sneak in the odd rendezvous with the tutor 😍
I think she would have liked a peaceful life with jiaming but because they clearly are magnets for other peoples responsibilities and also like to shoulder them (also cant blame them for being good and efficient at those jobs) that serenity wouldn't have lasted. I hope she can in a sense remarry jiaming so she can publically be seen with him or like you said a rendezvous or many.

This episode is the roller coaster of emotions. Although the ending is sad but they projected it in most realistic way. The thought that "we can't change our fate" no matter what hit me really hard. My fav character has been the emperor since beginning. I legit cried in this episode. That's all.

Wonderful; tragic that Tilan and the Emperor died but he died in battle for a good cause. Such a beautiful drama, I have enjoyed every moment. I enjoy Yang Mi and William Chan's work: I have seen them in other dramas and they were equally admirable in this. Such an adventure and such a heroic tale.

Great story with amazing endings. Different versions for each love It’s understandable why the king did not want to get the help because he would have not been able to move on after tilans death. I knew haishi would become the empress it literally foreshadowed it in the first episode. I barely cried on this one but I’m happy. Great work as always.
