The stopper and then coffee need to go in before the flame underneath. Then the water comes up through the coffee. When the water has all come up, the flame is removed and the water filters down through the coffee. Delicious.
I prefer to add coffee afterwards and mix it with a tool. If you add the coffevfrom the beginning, the coffee powder gets warm an can influence taste. But if it suits you, go for it and enjoy your coffee.
