Thorens CB14 turntable in Action - We play 78, 45 and 33rpm
มุมมอง 3754 ปีที่แล้ว
I've just set up my Thorens CB14 Turntable. Surprisingly it sounds good on a line in, not phono pre-amp. Works good on 78, 45 and 33 rpm. Sadly I do not own a 16rpm record. The torque is strong. Works incredibly fine after so many years.
Technics SL-1500C / Auto lift-up function Adjustment

The Service Manual of the Technics SL-1500C I have downloaded from VinylEngine. Now I was able to set up the position, where the Auto lift-up function sets in. There are two positions to choose.
Eureka Mignon MCT and Specialità comparison
มุมมอง 8K5 ปีที่แล้ว
In this clip I am comparing the Eureka Mignon MCT from 2013 and the Eureka Mignon Specialità from 2019. The grinding performance is around 1g/s at the MCT and 1.6g/s at the specialità. But it has to be mentioned that the grinding discs at the MCT are six years old and the Specialità is new. The sound comparison does not sound that expicit, but that is probably because of the camera mic. In fact...

Espresso shot with La Pavoni - Europiccola and Demoka - Minimoka mill
มุมมอง 29K12 ปีที่แล้ว
This is one of my last shots with my equipment that I have used for more than seven years. The La Pavoni Europiccola comes fresh from a service and works very well. I'm showing in this clip how I'm handling the Europiccola to get a great shot. It wasn't the best shot I ever did, but a good one. This equipment seen in this clip is going to be for sale soon on swiss ricardo. The upper part from t...

Does this work for a SL1000C as well?
the same problem in the old sl bd 22, so this problem remains also in newer models?
Tanx 🙏🙏
Would this be the same for the sl-100C?
@@12_inch_spinnerz I don't know . If you got one, please try it and let me know.
Can a pressure kit be put on the group head for a pressure profile?
Technics forgot how to make a semi automatic turntable. I bought one. but I hated the auto lift and the cueing arm so much I sent it back to Amazon. They graciously refunded me.
Excellent video, I have been contemplating buying either a 100C or 1500C, and a few reviews stating that auto-lift operates too early was putting me off purchasing. Your video has helped immensely, Thank You. (PS. Why does it need two settings in first place - why not have it on the later setting and be done with it ?)
Just what I needed for Pat Benatar :-)
Why not to stop platter after tonearm lifted?
Bitchin! Thank you.
Hi Just have question for you about this turntable. How is the power button of this table ?? Just got the same table and the power button is missing presses now and then. The power button on this table does not feel very reliable ?? I can somehow understand it has some delay because it is logic controlled (does not respond to very fast presses) but it feels kinda irrational, all the other buttons work and respond like a charm. Someone else was talking about this same thing in reddit. Does it need a somekind of power down and up cycle ???
Don't know where is the issue but after one month of use I cannot use my technics sl-1500c anymore. After finishing one record I move the tonarm to the base, lower the lever as usual till the end but suddenly tonarm returned back to the up position and since then I cannot lower it. I mean I can lower it by pushing the lever down but when I take off my finger the tonarm returns to the up position.
Do not understand why the "buyer' of this player has to set up the auto return of the record after playing?? I had all kinds of record players growing up as a kid, they were cheap ones as well, probably cost 5 -12 dollars back in the 50's....and every one had an automatic tone arm that returned smoothly to its resting place after playing the record, no need to wait. I also had a Juke Box from 1950, and every 45 played the tonearm returned to its place. This is NOT rocket science but for some reason nowadays they act as if you are asking for the moon to require the company to have this function in place!???
Dear CHafecito, you made my evening! Faced this early lift problem with a 45 rpm record and it was so annoying but thanks to your clear instructions I was able to ajust it to pos 1. I found some guides in the web but you showed it pretty clear. Thanks a lot for this! But you know that it takes about 70 seconds on pos 1 to trigger autolift on, unfortunately. I think 70 seconds are too much... So I returned to pos 2 actually since it takes only 17-18 sec to enable autolift. Decided to use autolift switch on/off at the back of the tt if I want to play 45 rpm records recorded almost to the apple ring.
Nice, thanks !!!
Thanks for posting. I had to try 4x before getting it right. I didn’t bother trying to set it because it only happens on a few longer playing LPs, but this is great. Auto lift takes another 15 seconds or so to kick in. It’s a great feature and a great turntable. Thanks for taking the time.
It really works!!! But, on the other hand, we should be conscious that when listening to normal LP or EP, the time when the tonearm will be lifted up is about 35 seconds longer on position 1 than on position 2.
I also suggest you add a simple electronic schematics which emulates the STOP button after lift-up event. One of my friends did that, and now it stops spinning when the tonearm auto lifts.
With turntable on and auto lift switch set to off, keep press both 33 and 45 button pressed while switching on auto lift on. After that release buttons. Set to 33 rpm speed and now the turntable will switch off when tonearm auto lift.
@@sciabbanimuyeah, I learned that trick later )
the turntables should have been adjusted correctly from the factory and it is not justified. question, why doesn't the turntable stop after the arm is raised?
auto stop can be adjust too
Thank you for your video. Made adjustments for my SL-100C and it works like a charm. The manual is a bit weird and misleading as it clearly switched the positions with each other (the faster intervals should indicate that the tonearm lifts up later and not earlier). Also the detection point isn’t at 51,5mm as indicated by the photo in the manual but actually, as it should be, around 56,5/57mm. Your video also confirms this. Thanks!!
Is it true, that unlike the SL1500, the SL100c also stops the motor after lifting up the tonearm and then goes to standby after few minutes of idle?
@@atexnik Only if you activate that function, you need to hold the 33 & 45 rpm buttons simultaneously while flipping the auto lift switch to on to activate the "auto off"
@@carolinemangum1604 Is it possible to reduce the time spent playing the end of record groove. I have been seeing times of like 60 seconds! Position 1 should be default, actually should be the only one. Skunkie's video brought this issue up but did not properly solve it.
I think the manual is misleading. There is only one sensor inside. What this adjustment does is change the length of time the arm waits - after triggering the sensor - before lifting. If you go back and play the first record you will see it takes even longer for it to lift now. Not sure why the manual implies two different trigger points.
Thank you for this. I actually watched you video before I got my turntable in and knew of this issue. Switched it from 2 to 1 and it works perfectly. You're the man!!
I've tried the auto lift and it lifts well at a certain distance but the issue is that all albums do not end at the same place so usually you lift before the end of some records. I'm usually recording the album so I use the manual method.
Excellent video. I had the auto lift turned off because it often lifted before the end of the record. Now it's working correctly. Very easy to follow instructions. Thanks very much!
hi all - there is a hidden function for Auto stop (not only auto-lift but stop!) th-cam.com/video/jaZau-XhFQw/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for detailed information! Just did it successfully for SL-100C, works a treat!
thanks for confirmation!
Two thumbs up for this video-guide, i have played about a hundered different LPs without any issues... until yesterday. Reeperbahn from Record Store Day 2023 Side B last track, the pickup lifted about 30 seconds from the end, your guide saved the day =)
Great thanks you have helped another 1500-C owner on day one.
since you are very familiar with the SL-1500C, can I ask you a question regarding one I just purchased? Upon balancing the arm (with the anti-skate set to “0”) I noticed that while the arm is floating (balancing level with weight set at “0”) the arm wants to move toward its resting post if it is about an inch in from the edge of the platter. If the arm is located in the middle of the platter, or toward the spindle, the arm floats perfectly without any movement. Is this normal for this unit? It is almost like the anti-skate is still interacting even though it is set to “0”. The reason I ask is because none of my other Technics turntables do this. With my other units, the arm will float perfectly in any position, until the anti-skate is applied. Thank You for any insight you can provide.
Vielen Dank für die Anleitung. Hat geklappt! Spitze😀
Thanks much appreciated video many regards ❤
thanks for taking the trouble to research that and explain it...
Thanks! Worked on my 100C. But now it seems it takes longer for the auto lift to engage, about a full minute. Anyone else experience this? I found the service manual but I didn't see any mention of the time the cartridge sits in the runout groove being adjustable.
Thank you. It was really annoying that it lifted to early!
So many people leaving negative marks for the deck in reviews, when it could have been adjusted the whole time.
👌👌👍
😊
A link to the service manual in your video description would've been great.
Yeah, is it possible to know where you have acquired it? I can’t find it 😢
Great video. Thank you Ps: can you please publish a link to the service manual by any chance? This would be awesome.
Thank you 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏!
You saved me! I just bought this model new in good condition for $800 with 2M Silver :) . On some records I noticed it lifted before the song was over and thought I bought a bad unit.....until I saw your video. Thanks alot!
Merci, mon problème est réglé grace à vous ☮️✌️
Great, thanks for the video. Worked fine with my Technics SL-100C
Hm for me on Technics SL-100C does not work. I tried many times but still has no positive feedback.
Fantastic, thank you man!!!!!
Thank you so much 👍👌
Thenks from Germany!
Thank you SO much for taking the time to do this….Bless you! I shudder to think of all of these great tables were returned because Technics didn’t clearly address this in the owner’s manual! Still love ya though Technics!😉
The stopper and then coffee need to go in before the flame underneath. Then the water comes up through the coffee. When the water has all come up, the flame is removed and the water filters down through the coffee. Delicious.
I prefer to add coffee afterwards and mix it with a tool. If you add the coffevfrom the beginning, the coffee powder gets warm an can influence taste. But if it suits you, go for it and enjoy your coffee.
When u set the arm during the safe mode, the arm should be lift up right?
I don't know if it should be, but certainly its easier when lifted up.
Thank you so much. What I find odd is that Technics provide 2x positions. You would imagine that only one position is required and that is when the stylus has reached the final run-out groove right next to the central label. I can't see any reason to lift the tone-arm any sooner before the run out...
Good point. Might be interesting to have a talk with an product manager or engineer.
@@LLQushell Just to add: I made the adjustment and I thought the problem was solved...However, every so often, the tone arm still lifts before the end...Not only that, sometimes the arm goes right to the final position near the label and still does not lift for at least 10 revolutions of the disc. I find it absolutely amazing that Technics could not design a lift system that works PERFECTLY!... It only needs an optical sensor at the one correct position. It is the most SIMPLE thing to design an arm lift that works perfectly. I am genuinely amazed that TECHNICS have failed. :(
@@meckanicall Do you know if such issue exists with old turntables like say SL-1300 or SL-1700 ? Products of that era.
@@Jthe5th I just moved to an SL-1500 from a Realistic Lab 400. The full-auto mechanism on the latter is leaps-and-bounds better. Only issue I ever had there were records whose run-out groove was too far from the "label" portion, so auto-return wouldn't engage. Better than preemptive engaging.
@@dweblinveltz5035 On the latter, you mean the last mentioned in the sentence or the last one you have bought? It's the SL-1500 leaps-and-bounds better?
