And it was so wrong to put a child in that situation. Abby screamed and screamed at Maddie to the point where she was crying and apologizing. It makes a little kid feel like they cant do anything to fix their mistakes.
I don’t think she needs a kid to realize this, she just needs common sense and let’s be real, the way she treats those kids under the guise of training shows she has none :(

That's common for teachers who see students with great potential to give them more opportunities. You won't send your student to a Broadway audtion who's just okay. You send your best. If the other students aren't up to par they don't get the same opportunities. I hope Maddie realizes with all her fame in success that Abby helped her get there.
nylotus Maddie's a talented dancer who would've done well with or without Abby, so Abby and her fans need to take several seats if they think that this way to treat students is acceptable
nylotus that's a bunch of bull ... Chloe was more than a match as was the other girls....when they all were given a chance Maddie wasn't picked . Chloe was picked and so was Kendall for the dance spirit magazine cover for example.

Maddie would have been just another background dancer to Beyonće if she ever got a chance. She would have NEVER danced with Sia, nor would she be featured on Dancing With The Stars and The Ellen Show. Abby and Dance Moms gave her the opportunity to do it. She wouldn't even even have a spec of fame that she has now without Abby.
This is a textbook example of how manipulative and abusive Abby is. She's twisting every situation in here.

Honestly this is one of the saddest moments in this whole show, abby was SO manipulative and made maddie feel like a bad person even tho she was literally 9 and couldnt do anything about the situation.

CatCar 021 This also shows how strong the other girls are compared to Maddie. They get treated like this on a daily basis but they strive to do their best. Maddie gets told she can’t have a solo ONCE and she does the water works
@@madelinenielsen3532 That's so rude dont call her not strong.... She was always treated like the favorite so it made her sad when she didnt get a solo!! She suffered from severe anxiety and PTSD because of Abby, and Maddie still worked so hard to get to where she is today.. She was treated with favoritism because when she was little she was a really great dancer and asked questions that 4 year olds wouldnt usually ask. Thats what made Abby think she was special and that's why she was treated as the favorite. Thanks, i just proved your point completely wrong :)

Madeline Nielsen The thing to realise about this scene was that it was never about getting a solo. Maddie would’ve probably been completely fine if she was told, “You’re not getting a solo this week because the other girls deserve a chance.” or literally anything else along the line. The problem was that she felt as though she was being punished for something that she did not do. She was simply obeying her mom, and Abby was telling her “I deserve better than that Maddie! How could you!” Maddie is like eight in this scene, and children can’t handle such emotional pressure, so obviously she started crying like any child would in her case. All the girls went through different kinds of abuse, including Maddie and Mackenzie, Maddie’s was simply different. She went through emotional manipulation, and it’s very sneaky, you usually won’t be able to spot it unless you were looking for it.
Maddie had so many opportunities the drop dead diva movie she even had the opportunity to have a solo every week she is lucky I can’t believe Melissa when Mackenzie doesn’t have a solo she doesn’t care but when Maddie hasn’t had a solo it’s a problem Melissa seems to forget a lot through out the show that she has more then one child I mean poor Kenzie was always in Maddie shadows

Abby breaking down in this moment shows how much she needed Maddie and the rest of the team, she was obviously hurt by it, but would never show it in a humbling way that brings people together. Her crying was manipulative towards Maddie as well, because she was just doing what her mom and the other moms were doing, there's absolutely nothing okay about acting like a victim in order to make a child feel guilty.
