That's Holt McCallany, the guy who leads the group into this new level of insanity, starting at 2:06! I always thought he did such a great job here. He just perfectly conveys his character, a guy who has arrived at a "next level" understanding of the exalted wisdom he receives from his leader, and turns to his fellow cult members to elucidate what he has learned. And, he does it with a perfectly straight face, but I always thought you could sense the actor's sense of humor about the utter madness of what he was saying. Awesome job Holt!!!
He’s in a lot of great roles.. he was in men of honor in 2000, he’s been in law and order shows, svu and ci, he was lead character in lights out tv show that lasted a season in 2011 I think, and I didn’t see it but he was “the beast” in 2017 shot caller movie. 👍
This has always been my favorite scene in the movie for whatever reason. It shows how far things have gone, way past the point of no return for these guys. It's also a little comical and infinitely quotable

The way they reveal the twist in this movie is perfect. I watched this with my friend. He’s a smart guy. And I asked him during this part “do you have this movie figured out yet?” And he was like “no, what the hell is going on?” And I was like man.. this movie is amazing. It’s actually great when you rewatch it as well. It makes you realize just how big of a nutcase this guy is. Goes to meetings for people who are dying, starts banging this crazy chick who tried to OD on pills, blows up his own apartment, beats himself up and draws a crowd by doing it night after night, starts squatting in an old abandoned house where nobody lives, starts making bombs out of human fat and even brings the bombs on planes. It’s totally the psyche of a person who has lost touch with reality, but when you first watch it, you have no idea. It’s a brilliant movie. And super entertaining. The acting is as good as it gets as well.

That's what I love about this movie. It's a lot like Monty Python's THE LIFE OF BRIAN, in that some poor guy just wants to live his life and be left alone, and the people around him are so desperate for something to believe in that they will take ANYthing he says as the Word of the Lord. Lmao, I never even thought of that, but yes this movie and the Life of Brian have a ridiculous amount of parallels, all that Fight Club is missing is a stop-motion scene with puppet-aliens smackdab in the middle of the movie and some more musical numbers and it'd be a re-telling of The Life of Brian in modern times, hell Fight Club already has an iconic ending song just like Life of Brian, so really with a little editing I bet you could turn Fight Club into a mostly-accurate "remake" of The Life Of Brian, just without most of the Religious and Ancient History stuff 😂😂😂
