  • Shot on both sides of train to favor light and Patco line. Fast ride for that old GP40PH-2B. Leave it to EMD. You see a lot of trees flying by but this is what a typical passenger on this line will see. It’s like what a typical ride on this fast line is all about.

Thanks for posting; I've also enjoyed your SEPTA and LIRR trips.
Back in 1960 I took the PRSL to Wildwood from 30th Street. On the way down it was in a coach consist pulled by a Baldwin AS-16 road Switcher; on the return it was in an RDC.
This did end in 1969 when PATCO was built, when it became a 2-seat shuttle ride from Lindenwold to the shore

Such a beautiful video! I’ve always heard this train go by since my childhood! It’s so heartwarming to see the full ride of the Atlantic City line! I just filmed a train arriving and departing from the Atco station the other day. However, I have never been on these trains.

A great video of the Atlantic City line of NJ Transit. I used to live in Elwood, NJ, remember the PRSL trains, various stations it served. Taking the train from Philadelphia to Atlantic City & black to Philadelphia is a better way of traveling between the 2 cities, the same with going to & from, Boston, New York City,Newark,NJ, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Richmond, Newport News & Norfolk, VA. It beats driving on the NorthSouth Freeway(Parking Lot), Atlantic City Expressway, U.S.30(White Horse Pike),NJ 168,NJ42,U.S.322/40(Black Horse Pike) as those roads are crowded during rush hour, traffic to Atlantic City, Brigantine,Margate & other South Jersey Shore towns/resorts on Fridays, Sundays,Holiday weekends.

The AC line is a very underrated line to railfan. Go back 50-60 years when it was run by PRSL, you had all sorts of equipment in Atlantic City. RDC's, passenger trains, freight trains.
Back in the late 80's/early 90's Trop World (Tropicana) had a small amusement park inside. One of the rides was an old time Atlantic City theme where you sat in a rolling chair. Well one of the beginning scenes was of being a "Shoobie" on the train ride down originally from Camden then to Philadelphia on a PRSL train.
I personally wish NJ Transit would somehow get a line rebuilt to Cape May.
While you were in Atlantic City railfanning, I was in your neck of the woods up in Northport visiting family and going to Citi Field to watch the Dodgers play the Mets.
At the 1:03:53 mark, you can see the shopping center built at the old Cherry Hill Park. Famous by the Billy Joe Royal song... About 15 minutes away where 38 and 130 meet, is a very good steak place called "The Pub". Still cook steaks on an open hearth grill, known for their Caesar salad. Used to have 2 places in Philly one of which was called the"Pub Tiki" and known for it's Hawaiian and Asian/Islander food.

I grew up a Mets fan in NJ and I haven't been to a game in more than 50 years. That's changing the last week of September. I'm just rarely in NYC during baseball season when the Mets are winning. I'll definitely be doing some railfanning, too.

I remember the old days of the PRSL Atlantic City line. It was double track when I have moved from Ridley Park, PA to Elwood, NJ. In 1967 the line became single track except for a portion from Cologne, NJ into Egg Harbor City,NJ & in the small Hammonton freight yard. Back then in the mid to late 1960’s there were the Budd RDC’s, passenger trains, The PRSL ran passenger trains between Camden & Atlantic City in 1964 through Clementon, Barrington, Audubon on its single track line.

The AC Rail line is the fastest way to get to the shore without being stuck in traffic on the expressway for 2 hours a 90 minute ride both ways is very enjoyable

I remember my first ride on that line as a young child in the '40s. We road the PRR from Newark to Philly, took a ferry over the Delaware River which smelled badly, and boarded the PRSL to Egg Harbor City.

F.Y.I. Pomo was for Pomona. Lica {pronounced like you 'lick' an ice cream cone} is for the Mullica River. Atco is for the beginning of Atlantic County. I think Fish was named after an old engineer, if my poor old memory recalls correctly. I knew that thirty-five years ago....lol.... I've been trying to get the sidings lengthened and joined up so there would be more double track. The right-of-way is wide enough for double track because it once was double track when it was P-RSL. When I got the Atlantic City Rail Line built, after rail service had ceased {I got the State of New Jersey to buy the dormant line for a bargain price from Conrail and then later I got Amtrak to rebuild it} because single track was all we could afford. I was told to accept that or nothing. I accepted it. If I had a way to communicate with you, I could send you an outline of the full story and my involvement.
At our next meeting, on Sept. 8th, I'll mention again the dirty window issue on the ACRL cars. They told me the cleaning solution being used is scratching and fogging the windows. They said the issue was being addressed.

Jeff... You're probably the right person to address this to. I am in possession of about a 3-foot length of IRON U-rail that came from the original Camden and Atlantic Railroad. I would love to find out who is the historian for New Jersey Transit, and if they would like to talk to me about this obviously historical artifact that I have. Please get in touch with me. Thank you!

Where was this dual mode locomotive that commenter Samuel Bennie said he saw on your video in the Atlantic City Terminal? You obviously didn't see it either or I'm sure you would have mentioned it. The only time I know of a dual mode ever being in Atlantic City was when we did catenary clearance tests into 30th Street some years back. The test train had multi-level coaches too, for height clearances. Everything worked fine.
Speaking of using dual mode locomotives on the Atlantic City line, I have been pressing for some ACRL trips to go directly into Center City Philly, to Suburban Station and or Jefferson Station {formerly Market East}. The ACRL trains would use the upper level at 30th Street. SEPTA told me that they had no objection, but now that the upper level at 30th Street, Suburban and Jefferson have fare gates, it causes a logistical issue. A way would need to be found for ACRL passengers to deal with the SEPTA fare gates. But it isn't impossible or unheard of, since NJT uses fare gates at the Frank Lautenberg Station at Secaucus Jct. Coded strips on the NJT tickets and passes open the fare gates. Our employee passes have a chip, which also opens those gates.

I saw it. It pushed my train into Atlantic City. I mentioned that in my other video that day. What do you do with New Jersey Transit? I didn’t mention it in the video because I’m more of an EMD guy who loves the Geeps.

Wouldn't it be nice if the newjersey rail projects would take somethe tax they use for gas and take it to the advantage and extend the newjersey coust train from north jersey using the old blue coment lines between lakewood and Lakehurst some of it supposed to out if service and some are probably already abandoned but with tax money they really can salvage and ma k e the atantic city extend to the usable the northeast corridor
