I got 1000 subs in one year and 8 months and 3 months later, I'm at 12.5k subs. I agree it's about passion, you gotta love what you are doing. The topic, talking about it, capturing it on video, and editing the video.
you inspired me thank you buddy , i am grinding sharing uploading working all day everyday but views ? too low ... how can u be patient ? i wanna grow too but i almost loose my faith
Thanks for this inspiration! You're now at 19k wow well done! I got to 1k a few days ago, seems slow and steady for me but hopefully it continues to grow!
While this may be true for the more casual audience. It is kind of important for smaller channels who may actually be looking for time management strategies. It may not be for everybody, but having a section for it in the video couldn't hurt.
thats something im learning my self, sometimes videos do well, sometimes they dont.. you just gotta find what made your last three good then use some of those elements.. i uploaded a video on my gaming channel like 5 hours ago and its only JUST hit 1 view, where as my last three would have already hit 20 views by now. DONT GIVE UP PEOPLE
Without a doubt it's always the passion. Even if someone is notably socially awkward, the passion comes through and it gets the viewer hooked. It leads to the audience becoming invested, even excited to see the rest of the video and to anticipate the next. All my favorite teachers in school were passionate about their topics and you could feel that love for the subject, and subsequently the students they were teaching, permeate the room. It's the same vibe I get with Josh's videos and that's fantastic. Great pointers, great advice.
I just got to 1,000 subscribers today, thank you for giving me all these tips to help! remember, if your not growing, just be patient, youtube takes time
I stumbled upon Josh some time ago, for his gaming content. I think the first thing that got me was his professionalism. He was talking about games, but in a very calm, honest and pleasing way. I thought: "This is not a child (nothing wrong with that), is an adult with a professional take on a passion". I really like him.
Josh didn't create the Josh Strife Says channel, but allowed a very passionate fan to continue posting on the channel when it became large enough to gain his attention. Cleverly creating a partnership which helps bolster his main channel instead of squashing the channel for someone stealing his content (which other creators would probably do)
@@LifeOfViette as far as I know Josh saw this as free advertising for him so was happy to let him keep the revenue from the clip channel, but i do believe its more organised now and Josh pays for his work but i could be wrong
Really helpful content, thanks for sharing. Even though I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, I still remember getting started. It was a tough journey. Of course, things are a lot easier now and I'm super grateful that I didn't give up and stayed patient and all the way through. Consistency and hard work (I had to use Famester to kick start my channel, and I am still using it to this day), is the key to success!! Good luck to everybody, you are going to make it soon.
I think this was the first video of this type that I really felt nailed the most important aspect of being a content creator, but at the same time, it really filled me with dread. It's all about value - it's all about creating something that people will WANT to watch. The question is... Can I or others really do it? I often feel that my content is a bit directionless. Hopefully, I will figure out how to properly implement storytelling in my videos
The best strategy I can give you that will allow you to still remain somewhat stress free in the creation process is this; Make 50% of your content what you WANT to make and make 50% of your content what you believe will take off or get attention. That way you can still fulfill your personal creative needs while still catering to your audience or potential audience!
@@BrettAztec That's really good advice! I'm currently trying to motivate myself to post more by doing more heavily edited videos since adding a lot of silly edits is fun to me, but I will absolutely try to do a 50/50 approach

8:02 precisely, there's a TH-camr named 'Puffin Forest' whose channel is all about his Dungeons and Dragons adventures, accompanied by animated stories. Initially, his channel banner, avatar, and thumbnails might not be appealing to those who haven't experienced his storytelling and animation. However, as you delve into his content, you gradually become accustomed to his art style, storytelling, and personality, making the appearance of his banner, avatar, and thumbnails irrelevant. Puffin Forest once asked his community if he should update and change his art style for his animations, and a significant majority of us said, "no." Because his animation art style is unique to him, it's what we know him for, and so he kept it the way it has been from the start. Now, he has 754K subscribers because his passion is evident in his work, and it shows.
Josh is one of my biggest inspirations to make content with passion, I'm always watching he's videos, even while working (sorry for the second monitor) and always trying to grasp every single bit of knowledge and advice that he gives, he's passion is more than evident on his videos and I absolutely adore, thank you so much for making this video, it always inspire me watching Josh, especially seeing him giving some amazing advice! Honestly, I think this is a misconception. Passion can be important, and it can definitely help and will help with your own mental state throughout the process. But there are countless channels that do well where passion has little if anything to do with that channel. They simply provide something to watch for people, and over time find enough people for those videos then to start getting recommended more, etc. The reality, in my opinion and experience, is that there is no one way. Many passionate people simply don't have some soft skills or hard skills to get through the early stages and then give up, many business oriented people will easily get through the grind due to their market analysis skills and whatnot, and then there are the opposite examples and everything in between. Having said all that I suppose you could argue people will either love their niche, love what they are doing and sharing their passion, or then love the business of it and are passionate about finding and grinding for success.
@@oldmatttv You're absolutely right, passion alone isn't enough to meet success, and some people work better by ambition than passion. Each person has to find what works best for them in the end

It's a shame Josh's discord requires phone verification. Not all of us have the luxury of owning a phone or are willing to pay such a bill for something we don't need. Also kinda weird to cherry pick baby channels in the MMORPG niche but ignore larger ones just cause someone has a few haters from 4chan or reddit to feature in the vids. (Like the "What is an MMO video.")
I see many videos like this that aren't like the popular music channels like Colors, Majestic Casual, Chillhop, Lofi Girl, etc. I think music channels have a different approach. I will admit this process Josh mentioned is exactly how we write music though! Gotta tell a story!😊 I would love to see VidIQ look into the music channel niche.
Just using some title tips and thumbnails that vidiq provides my content has reached almost everyone in my niche! I’m man enough to admit my content isn’t the best but I’m super excited to know everyone in my niche sees my content! Make sure to improve everyone you can always improve!

I really miss playing RuneScape but that’s mainly because I remember when my friends played it. I logged on once when it got a mobile version but it just wasn’t the same. Edit: ah and I agree that it’s better not to ask for subs unless it’s like Mrwhosetheboss who does it with like a joke, basically making it a part of the content. When the video/content is good and the audience likes who you are, it’s more likely that they’ll sub to you.

On the idea of making an event with a video, The Why Files does a fun thing as they premier a video then they go live right after the premier to discuss the video with their community. Its really fun and engaging and they go on for hours.
I’m not sure if you have any ideas but my channel hit 850 subs a few weeks ago but my shorts have stopped getting views I’ve gone down from 5000 views to 50 and sometimes loose subs have you got any tips for me maybe I should stop uploading as often? Or focus more on videos than shorts?
I have been hoping for a video like this and the fact that it includes one of my biggest inspirations on youtube? This is awesome. So much fantastic information. Thank you vidiq and Josh strife Hayes
Do not be disheartened by the absence of views and subscribers. Keep in mind that achieving success requires patience and unwavering commitment. Continue to produce content, maintain a positive outlook, and have faith in your abilities.
Thank you Josh and vidIQ for these great tips. I started my channel with no expectation of growing, I did it just to store videos I wanted to make for fun, not unlike Josh's story. However, after seeing some success, I realized that I might be able to grow and have a passionate fanbase. I will definitely be taking these tips into consideration, especially the second tip. I have a gaming video in the works that I have been planning for two months, and many exciting things happen in it. I am excited for hopefully more people to see it!
I wanted to be a teacher in highschool and had planned to go to college to be a history teacher but that plan got derailed by hurricane Katrina. so I can definitely say that passion for teaching has come out through my channel and is one of the reasons I started my channel. I've never been that charismatic or entertaining so that was something I had to work on lol.

I like the inclusion of passion. My passionate life has passionate bills and accepting sponsorship is OK, and if your alignment really has problems with that just reinvested into the content and your audience is still gonna value you
Thanks for the content! I was making this channel a faceless channel. I meet all the requirements for partnership, but was denied. I still have videos uploaded that I've never released. I just stopped. Unfortunately, I don't know what, if anything, to do once I've been denied partnership. So, now the channel just sits here and sort of rots. I don't know that there are any videos or creators who handle this sort of thing, but I figured I just failed and this channel was dead.
Totally agree. When you're passionate about something, it shows in your content, and your viewers can sense it. Engaging with the audience help create a deeper emotional connection and a stronger community.
Hey guys, give me some ideas on how to engage with the viewer. What exactly should I do to build a community and to integrate the viewer (I do reviews and tutorials). I don't really know how to get Engagement with the viewers when sharing my product reviews or tutorials. Shall I aks them questions or what do you mean?
Good advices, requires time but the competition is just too much, many great talents around (which is a good thing) that makes it even hard to get the minimum required for monetizing, and let's not start about editing because oh boy how exhausting is that, but everything requires patience
Honestly, premieres annoy me. I go through my subscriptions, see a video that I want to watch... no, stop. I can't because it has not premiered yet. So annoying. I usually just go on and watch something else, when I want to watch it and most of the time forget about that premiere content. Josh did a really good job hyping up the premiere function, but in practice, for me as a viewer, its just annoying. I've NEVER EVER put more value on a premiere type of video, as a user, quite the contrary. If I had to guess, I'd say that despite premieres, he is successful, because of the rest of the whole package. I guess he just likes it so much because his roots are in acting.
I have a question why we cant upload video shorts at all and every time i post video shorts and it ends up black screen and its been 4 days till now and i already reinstal back the yt apps but it still doesnt work, whats wrong actually ,last week i still can post video shorts using mobile android phone but till now cant do it anymore, any solution at all ?does this happen to everyone sometimes ?

I sometimes premier videos and I LOVE chatting while it's premiering BUT my last premier had no one coming to it... 😭😭 Even my usual viewers weren't there. I had that video up on my channel for a few days to let my viewers know I was premiering it, but nobody came. I stopped premiering after that

I don't know that there are any videos or creators who handle this sort of thing, but I figured I just failed and this channel was dead.
Engagement is a focus of mine.
Boom! 🔥 That quote is the winner of 2023 so far for me!! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Great advice. Thank you for this video. And thanks to josh.
We can, we will🔥🔥
Great info, thank you for sharing

Am encouraged. I will continue with my faceless mental health till am there. Thanks
You are the best master Josh, you are is one of biggest inspiration to make content
AGREED! If a video is finished and uploaded just release the darn thing
I got into Josh's channel couple months ago it's really good
I have a question why we cant upload video shorts at all and every time i post video shorts and it ends up black screen and its been 4 days till now and i already reinstal back the yt apps but it still doesnt work, whats wrong actually ,last week i still can post video shorts using mobile android phone but till now cant do it anymore, any solution at all ?does this happen to everyone sometimes ?
Good to know, thanks.
Currently binging your content! Aaahhh I really want to get some where with my channel and soaking in all the tips
I agree passion is the key to do this in my opinion I been doing this for a long time and just got 2600 subs and 3027 watch hours this week waiting to see if I get into ypp
Here’s a hint for some small TH-cam creators: on analytics, it shows your audience’s top searches. use those searches to make videos.
Great video 🔥 thank you so much!
This is a not a clickbait. It is not like other channels teaching tricks to just spam the youtube algorithm with 1000 shorts in a month.
Thank you so much 😊
This video is really helpful as a gaming channel. What you said is so true. His entire Otherworld series is in my favorites.
I sometimes premier videos and I LOVE chatting while it's premiering BUT my last premier had no one coming to it... 😭😭 Even my usual viewers weren't there. I had that video up on my channel for a few days to let my viewers know I was premiering it, but nobody came. I stopped premiering after that
Keep hustling. I’ve been trying for 3 months at I’ve just passed 100 subs. Just keep trying and we will get there
Thank you for the motivation. It is much needed.
