It’s their first album and its amazing how they debuted with this much talent….they won album of the year for this album and if I remember correctly they won Album of the Year ( grand prize/daesang) for 5 consecutive years at mama (the biggest korean awards show) and the other big korean award shows… because their albums are just masterpieces
Many people don’t know that black pearl is jack sparrow ship and you can tell from the lyrics what the song means I absolutely love the story and behind it ✨✨✨✨

Oh, you did Black Pearl! Cool! I’ve listened to this song more times than I can count. And just like you I absolutely love the fade-in effect that builds up the tension. And I particularly love Kyungsoo’s vocals in this one. It suits him really well.
Just keep in mind that during MAMA 2014, D.O. performed a solo song right after (Tell Me What Is Love), so Chen did the last run and ending on Black Pearl. This studio version is only EXO-K, while on stage they mixed it with the members of EXO-M 😉

6:00 yeah I guess back in 2013 it was still not in the head of the producers to make the instrumentals sound wider and fuller. If this is released in 2023, maybe it could've been more than this. But this song is already great as is. I just kinda want to experience it with that kind of instrumentals anticipation

Actually there's 3 version of this song, the original album version, the rearranged version, and the concert version. Each of those version has different member for that part "...She's my black peaaaaaarrll uhuhohohhh..." one with D.O, one with Chen, and one with Baekhyun. You should try to listen to all of those 3 version, each members gives off different feeling ❤❤❤

Yes, there is :) It's great too. You should check it out. I really enjoy hearing JONGDAE's vocals in that version as he covered most of BAEKHYUN & KYUNGSOO's parts in it.
D.O's voice before smoking was sooooo smooth. I mean even now is still smooth but his voice in early years of career was another level, silky but powerful
