@MuminJumper Actually, the walking 720 is easier to pull off in 4 than it is in previous games due to the shortcut for the motion. You only have to input a 540 instead of a full 720, and the motions can be partitioned slightly(you can switch directions for each 270 motion that is inputted). So what you do is cr. jab, and during the recovery frames, begin at up back, and make 270 on the pad/joystick to forward, hold for a split second, and then another 270 reversing the initial motion
@Luper1billion Yes. The 720 motion is stored while you walk forward. The storing of the motion works with other characters too. I've done it online and offline multiple times. Just watch how Vangief does it. That's how I got the idea on how he does walking 720's. Nice example is Blanka's stored charge to do cross up ultra 1 after a throw. Or Deejay's walking ultra after ex up punch while midscreen. It works with other characters with double qcf inputs too!
@Genereaver Actually, a 360 input only requires 6 directional inputs. So you can start from back to down-back, down, down-forward, forward, up-forward.
@PauloEifel You can buffer the directional inputs on the pad, exploiting the fact that the pad has both a d-pad and an analog stick to keep the 360 throw constantly at the ready.
@frillyslippers It doesn't necessarily mean pads are at a disadvantage. Shizza is a pad player (representing us Chun-li players) only prefers to play on pad, he does play on the stick too, but he prefers the pad. It's just about what you're more comfortable with since many players can do some pretty amazing stuff still on the pad.
@PauloEifel A 360 requires that you input all four cardinal directions within a set amount of time. This is no big deal, as all character have four frames before they actually get into the air, so you can input forward, down, back, up and then immediately press punch or kick before your character jumps. What's so impressive about a walk-in 720 is that he's inputting forward, down, back, up, and then doing the entire motion again time within 4 frames (4/60 of a second) and then Punches/kicks.
@Genereaver actually, it's more practical with the method i mentioned because it's also a jump cancel, which is also required for characters like ibuki and viper.
@roarmonsterful oh el fuerte's footsies are cr. mk, far hk which is a 2 hit and an over head.... cr. hp as anti-air, f+mk for overhead and going over low attacks and cr. jab/lk which short range but man he can link them.
Whoa! That has to be the best Zangief player I've seen O_o The accuracy of his hits are incredible. Damn @ 2:44 how the hell did he do that? That's just amazing. Also, what i don't get is that Justin Wong lost here so is he fighting against an Adon on another video?
@MekaRunner Thanks man! Do you know how the Mad Catz fightpad fares at this level of play? I saw Shizza, the best Chun-li in NA supposedly, use it. So it must be decent? Also, I love the button layout.
@Aznballer817 Reread what I said, and take into account that I was explaining it to somebody who doesn't know that every diagonal direction counts as an input of either of it's two components (so up-forward counts as either up or forward, but only one at a time; this is why you can input SRK with just down-forward, down, down-forward). Also, I said 4, so you actually increased the complexity with your six; a 360 can be input with d, r, u, l, if you're fast and dextrous enough.
@AsesinoDeLaConsola they are baiting tactics. Basically it's using your characters normal attacks and their speed, priority, and most importantly range effectively.
@Lpedraja2002 yeah here he's fighting vangief in the WINNER's bracket. He lost so he was sent to the LOSER's bracket where he fought Gamerbee who was using Adon. Wong lost to him so he was eliminated from the SSF4 portion of the tournament.
@ZeroChristMass not a walking 720, if you look carefully he does a crouching light kick n buffers the 720 while doing so all he has to do is press the buttons when he is standing up
It's going to be available as both DLC and a retail release. The DLC (for people that already own SSF4) is going to be about $15, whereas for those who don't own a copy of SSF4 can just buy the Arcade Edition for $40.
@AsesinoDeLaConsola basically it means dancing in and out of your character's range and in and out of their range. ideally you would hit them when they're in ur range but you are not in theirs. when you see them move back and forth a lot their testing it
@lulzultra It's very uncommon for tournament pad players to use the analog stick. Usually when people say "pad" they specifically mean the d-pad portion of the controller.
@PauloEifel Yeah Genereaver and lulzultra pretty much explained it, its basically a very hard input to do without a move or jump to buffer while you do the motion. The easiest way to understand it though is to just try walking then doing a 720 ultra, most people including myself have never done it even once let alone in a tournament in front of thousands of people playing justin wong
@MuminJumper He's using a pad. I don't think its possible with a stick because of the distance the stick has to travel to hit the sensors. I could be wrong though.
Walking 720's are easy to do in match. Buffer the 720 on a blocked or whiffed normal (eg. s.jab or c.jab), hold forward, take a step or two so the block stun wears out, then do a single 360 + PPP and call it a day. Using U2 for Gief is even worse in AE. You can do a walking 720, take a step or two, then finish the 360 with u/f+PPP if opponent jumps. If the opponent doesn't jump, you can use super or regular SPD.
@Toxicmountain97 he never does true standing 720. its always while he is in block/hit stun or in the animation of a wiffed normal so the 'up' command in the 720 doesnt make him jump :)
In response to the commentary, Standing Fierce is actually one of the best moves to use in this matchup along with c.hp. The commentator had it right the first time.
@MangaVoltage the weird thing is he chose Ultra 2, I understand how useful it is against a lot of enemies, but he had tons of opportunities for Ultra 1 to connect. I really don't care for JW, but even I think he wasn't really taking his opponents seriously (i.e. Gamerbee's Adon).
@Aznballer817 you missed one, up. I know that SSF4 is lax so you can cheat on the inputs, but 7 inputs has always been the true way to do SPD. Except for a few games like 3S.
@yamiking Umm...Chun Li isn't THAT big a counter to Zangief. Her standing roundhouse is good at keeping him out, but there are better characters to counter him with than Chun Li.
@meowskull That's not true, look up "Amazing Cyclops comeback" on youtube. It's really just one example, believe it or not Justin Wong makes amazing clutches just as often as Daigo, if not more. He's the best Marvel vs Capcom player, and is one of the best street fighter players no matter which street fighter we're talking about. He is very good at many fighting games and wins tournaments in them all the time. I don't know why people hate on him so much, they'd probably all get owned by him.
I heard pad is better for gief(I can be wrong) but he you notice him moving back and forth sometimes thats him getting it charged up but the walking 720 is amazing esp the back up into the ultra and the fact he stuck with gief after the nerfs while most moved on rather then adjusting their gameplay is in itself admirable.
@ThisIsKeef I think you can also tell who are the new comers and who are the veterans of this game by their preference. Anyone that prefers Hori sticks are definitely not all veterans, that ball point design was never in American arcades, they used the Club design back in the day. I can play Stick as well as Pad, but most sticks use way too much force that doesn't match the sensitivity a properly designed pad can accomplish. Unless you buy some insanely expensive custom stick.
@noyan000 That is just how you have to fight Gief... space him and keep him out... you can't let him get close. Just because it takes strategy you think it is boring...
@MuminJumper actually he is spinning that PAD at supersonic speed im glad guys like vangief win because it shows that sticks are overrated and not needed
I don't know why Justin didn't change character - he's perfectly capable enough with such a wide range of characters - including Sagat. I prespect persistancy but seriously - he could have had this. Then again, you never know...
@Aznballer817 I'm not saying your way is bad or good, I'm saying that your first response was unnecessary because it was already covered by my first comment.
I'm a Zangief fanatic. This was beyond epic when I first saw it.
@MuminJumper Actually, the walking 720 is easier to pull off in 4 than it is in previous games due to the shortcut for the motion. Vangief and Infiltration are two of the most underrated players in the SF community...No doubt they are in the top 10 IMO.
@PauloEifel You can buffer the directional inputs on the pad, exploiting the fact that the pad has both a d-pad and an analog stick to keep the 360 throw constantly at the ready.
These are the best commentators I have listened to, I can hear Seth Killian in there, I'm not sure who the others are but they are excellent.
@frillyslippers It doesn't necessarily mean pads are at a disadvantage. Shizza is a pad player (representing us Chun-li players) only prefers to play on pad, he does play on the stick too, but he prefers the pad. @Aznballer817 I don't know if CvS2 is one of the few exceptions, but 6 just gives me forward jump kick since SF2.
@BenedictHeyer wireless sticks have that option to i think.
@airjoca
Rufus is a rushdown character.
Sitting around waiting instead of keeping up the pressure is asking for trouble.
@lulzultra It's very uncommon for tournament pad players to use the analog stick. Usually when people say "pad" they specifically mean the d-pad portion of the controller.
@Narkomanden he did some standing 720 ultras, thats the amazing part
@MuminJumper they explained it in the video. He hid the first 360 in that crouching short
@PauloEifel Yeah Genereaver and lulzultra pretty much explained it, its basically a very hard input to do without a move or jump to buffer while you do the motion. @shindean i'm pretty confident it's 6 inputs, i've been doing that since CvS2

@MuminJumper
Vangief doesn't use a stick - he uses a pad which makes it even more impressive.
@FlipWilSRK so basically its like a buffer trick? the 720 motion stays even while you walk forward?
@yamikingu thats the luxury of knowing more than one character. counterpicking is part of the game.
@Aznballer817 you missed one, up. I know that SSF4 is lax so you can cheat on the inputs, but 7 inputs has always been the true way to do SPD. Except for a few games like 3S.
@harrier125 You said " You seem to know a bit about SSIV. On the PC version of SSIV, how do I do an Ultra Attack" Yea......
@lcarusHasFoundYou
use d-pad sounds more like a shoto kind of thing, how would you do 360s on a dpad.
@ZeroChristMass
check out a guy named Hayao. he does walking 720s like they're regular Hadoukens lol. and its in 3S so its harder to perform.
@BenedictHeyer you can do that on wireless sticks too....lol just sayin
@Toxicmountain97 i think he through out a light attack to pull the 720 off. i can do it by throwing out a light attack im just saying
@BenedictHeyer theres a home button on stick lol
Vangief is AMAZING. *no homo*
Fucking inspiration to Zangief players, especially the ones whose loyalty has been wobbling after the nerfs.
This Zangief was played using a PS3 pad. Shows that pads too have a place in fighting games.
@amazingdany
Daigo does nursing of some sort when he isn't playing. Not sure about Wong.
@yamiking Umm...Chun Li isn't THAT big a counter to Zangief. Her standing roundhouse is good at keeping him out, but there are better characters to counter him with than Chun Li.
Vance is going to enjoy the boosts for Zangief on the arcade edition.
@meowskull That's not true, look up "Amazing Cyclops comeback" on youtube.

Where can I buy this years dvd?
best match at EVO!...and yes...even better than the match between Justin and Gamerbee
2002 MICROSOFT
@MuminJumper hes using a fight pad... that makes it more amazing....
REMEMBER TO TURN DOWN YOUR VOLUME BEFORE LEAVING
@ThisIsKeef I think you can also tell who are the new comers and who are the veterans of this game by their preference. Normally I can't stand Gief players cause all they want to do is grab but this guy is a damn good all-around Zangief player.
@noyan000 That is just how you have to fight Gief... space him and keep him out... you can't let him get close. Just because it takes strategy you think it is boring...
@harrier125 I did. And am sure that you spell fighter with an S. So you played Street Sighter 4 I'm guessing?
I think the volume is a bit low.
@Zeronum2 Yup. You've messaged me on here before.
What is happened with vangief? He don't play SFV?
@MuminJumper Yeah, Vangief is truly a frightening Zangief player.
ahahah gotta love S-Kill. "AHHHH THAT'S GONNA BE IT!" that is why he got a job at capcom lol.
@Aeshir2 Hey are you thee Aeshir from GR?
Who is Vangief's brother? I know he commentates and plays SF4 also. Is it Lamerboi??
Gief's manliness shook the entire room
Does anybody know which pad Vangief uses?
I want to know vanguard button layout for his normal controller
@meowskull His most famous matches are him losing because him losing is rare. And he also has the tendency to lose in spectacular fashion, haha
@mhtryl Dude. He's using Zangief. What do you expect?
@Toxicmountain97 he hides the jump input i think is at they say
7:53 "Silence!"
@sngoku seth has great footsies or pressure what are you talking about.
@MuminJumper He uses D-Pad
@MuminJumper he hid the jump input
That weird point in history where people actually used Ultra 2 for Rufus.
What's the walking 720??
I'm no Pro, far from it, but in Vangiefs position, everytime I'm in the lead in lifebar, I'd hang back and tell Justin Wong to come get me.
who did vangief lose to then? I'm confused
@d956impala still hard to do.
@MuminJumper Well said mate, truly agree. Gief all the way :D
props to vangief, walking 720 on a dpad
@disturbedeleven He went out to Infiltration, a godly Akuma player to be completely fair ^_^
@MuminJumper It's called easy baby inputs. They made this stupid game easy to do the motions so he did a shortcut to do a walking 720.
@MuminJumper actually he is spinning that PAD at supersonic speed im glad guys like vangief win because it shows that sticks are overrated and not needed
10:03 - "He puts Justin Wong in the losers bracket!"
Sounds scarily like Stan Smith from American Dad! Haha!
I don't know why Justin didn't change character - he's perfectly capable enough with such a wide range of characters - including Sagat. I prespect persistancy but seriously - he could have had this. Then again, you never know...
2010 CANADA
What does EG stand for?
why is wong considered such a prestigous player. His most famous matches are the ones of him losing embarrassingly.
@MuminJumper He uses pad.
Vangief and Justin Wong both looks like the characters they play, lols.
*standing Strong*
SILENCE!
Turtle this, Justin Wong! He turtled in 3rd Strike, he turtled in Street Fighter IV. I guess a reptile can't change his shell.
@DragonfallCIA ..thats a sport?
....i can see that
That was intense!
@Aznballer817 I'm not saying your way is bad or good, I'm saying that your first response was unnecessary because it was already covered by my first comment.
BEST TOURNAMENT EVAR
@MrYc2 You're cool.
