I agree totally, we already have a lot of soft one dimensional forwards, why not get someone like Bennett who plays with sandpaper
We’re idiots if we trade the #11 overall for one year of Bennett. This is the type of deal a Stanley cup contender could do let alone the franchise with the longest playoff drought in US sports.
People who follow hockey know that such a trade is contingent usually on a contract extension signed first.

Joe the Sabres tried the "trade prospects and picks for vets" before. Remember Ryan O'Reilly? Evander Kane? Robin Lehner? How did THAT work out??
Key is don’t trade ALL ur picks and prospects and overpay in every trade … big diff not team is ready to win now while Murray tried to fast foward rebuild
Risto was a defenseman, they inherently play more minutes each night than the forwards. 20:00 for a top pair D man is relatively low, compared to at MOST 20:00 for your #1 C.

I'd like Brady Tkchuck, Jamie Oleksiak, Dumba, Deslauries, ... Tom Wilson would be a dream come true.
I want toughness so a guy like Cousins doesn't get his face broken again. Protect the youth with some legit veteran grit and intimidation.

Just saying you want to trade a pick or player away without consideration of what you’re getting in return is for sure a recipe for loosing. Also, if the sabres turn it around this year it might be the last time we pick in the top 11 in a long time.
You are crazy if you think 11th doesn’t have good value there Joe. Its literally a top 10 pick in a good draft. 11th overall should be included with other assets to acquire a star like Marner or Tkachuk not Farabee lol. If not you pick at 11. We need a star player. We have enough wingers that can do what Farabee does. Quinn, Peterka, Benson, Skinner and tuch
Get our 3rd line centre in free agency. Sign Dakota Joshua or Chandler Stephenson to a 5 year contract. Overpay if you need too. Also bring back Carrier and sign Trenin for our fourth line.
Zegras is awful. If it’s a second rounder sure but in all seriousness he’s awful. He will get you a highlight here and there but he’s awful. He’s literally Olofsson but a centre.

there are so many reasons and Risto is not one of them, hell he was the only guy we had that would actually hit back then..Krueger was the bottom of bottoms for me
@@RoamHockey I agree it was definitely not Risto’s fault. Plus he was move to another struggling team. All the other players he mentioned moved onto winning teams. I bet it would’ve been a different situation for Rasmus if he moved to a team like Dallas.

If not, pick Carter Yakemchuk if he is still there. He is a physical defenseman which we don't have much of

Flyers fan here. Joel Farabee should only get better as he finds his game. He had career highs this year and he will tell you he could have played a lot better. Joel Farabee and Scott Laughton to Buffalo makes A LOT of sense. Not sure what the return would be, but I am not going to be shocked if these two teams make a solid deal this summer.
Id send Joel and pay for the ticket if its just him for their 1st. I like Joel but he aint worth another teams 1rd pick.

Love the Sam Bennett trade idea!! . As far as Pavel Bushnevich trade idea goes , I say make the trade BIGGER and see if you can get Colton Parakyo in the trade as well as Power & Parakyo were a very good D pairing for Team Canada at last months World Championships.

I wouldn’t say Philly is unhappy with Risto. He’s found his game as a good defensive 3rd pair guy who can play up on the 2nd pair as needed. The problem is the acquisition cost and the contract he’s currently on.
Excellent show the concern is what's the one word Adams uses more than any other? its value whether he's afraid of looking bad or being called out for not getting value that'll stop any of these trades and they're just going to be caught holding the bag
I think we could eventually say the Sabres should take “a little” out of Florida’s playbook with big trade, but not right now. We have to be a playoff team first to see what our young players become. Doing it now could lead to a Tim Murray 2.0 premature disaster. We have to take into account that Florida and several other teams have a huge advantage with free agents over Buffalo. The weather and less taxes being a huge advantage alone. Right now we need to stick to Adams’ plan and make adjustments later on after we’re already competing in the playoffs. It’s way too early to write off any of our young players without testing things out for a little longer. THAT should be the key lesson we’ve learned throughout the entire drought! If we still had all those former players and did things right we would already be a really good team.

I think one reason why so many former Sabres, especially guys that were or supposed to be top level guys for Buffalo, have gone on to have noticeable postseason success elsewhere is because they are not expected to set the culture for their next teams. They typically can be cogs on an already functioning wheel. With Buffalo, they were expected to establish a winning culture and they failed miserably in doing so. They were not effective leaders for Buffalo. They go elsewhere and just play.
As a Flyer Fan I must add that we are fine with Risto for the most part. It’s what we gave up for him and the contract C Fletcher gave him that we don’t like.

Flyer fan here. I would dump farabee or frost and 36 for 11 happily. This isn’t the most skilled draft. But a deep draft this year especially at the defense position. If we could end up with either eiserman iginla parekh connelly chernyshov Greentree MBN in our first 3. picks in top 36. That would get this rebuild going. If I could draft anyone this year though I would want silayev at 6-7 220.
You do appear to be lowballing pick 11... at the same time, the sabres have a ton of guys who should be nearly ready to make the show like Rosen, Savoie, Ostland, Kulich and others. Not only should 11 be on the table for the right deal... those guys should too. Iwould rather see them star here, but there are only so many roster spots.

Apparently Jones is unhappy about Chicago's rebuild. He has a NMC but he might be willing to waive to be part of the best D-corps in hockey - Dahlin-Jones, Power-Byram, Samuelsson-Clifton, 7th-Ry Johnson.

The Sabres are a first line winger , second line center , a complete fourth line , second goalie , two tough defensemen away from having a competitive team . Please don’t tell me the ROCHESTER guys or SAVOIE are making this team a playoff contender. Unfortunately I have 0 confidence that this GM is capable of having what it takes to accomplish that . 0 confidence in the new coach also .

Sabres need a star winger, 3rd line two way centre, one top 4 RHD if they don’t resign Jokiharju, a right and left winger with physicality for our 4th line to accompany Krebs.
Big thing is the star winger. We have more than enough assets to get Marner or Tkachuk.
Sign Stephenson or Dakota Joshua for the 3C. Overpay if you have too.
Bring in Trenin and Carrier for our 4th line.
If the plan is Levi as the #2 goalie that’s great otherwise target Nedeljkovic, Talbot and DeSmith are the targets.
Honestly our D looks set. But id love to sign Tanev or Pesce. I know we have a tonne of LHD but would include Power in a trade for Marner or Tkachuk and acquire Brodin with the 11th Rosen and Neuchev.
Frost and farabee for 11 id love to see as a flyers fan.
They should draft another undersized forward who never hits and won't see the NHL until they are 25

To be fair, if Philly didn’t have to give picks up to dump ghost on the Coyotes AND give up a haul of picks to get Risto, they might not mind the player. Of course, when Fletcher signed him to that extension, he’s now a cancer growing in the minds of every fan.in Philadelphia. It’s a shame really because Brad Shaw has turned him into a responsible Defensive Defensman that’s a 4-5 type guy but for the money he’s getting, it just doesn’t work.
Whoa - pump the brakes on McDavid. Nobody touches Gretzky, Orr, or Lemieux. Howe is pretty solidly entrenched at # 4, and for me, Maurice "Rocket" Richard is # 5. If McDavid has another 5 or 6 seasons of 120 to 150 points, then another 5 or 6 seasons of 80 to 100 points, and ends up with 2,200 or 2,300 career points along with 3 or 4 Cups, and a couple of Conn Smythes and a total of 6 or 7 Harts, THEN, you might be able to say he has reached the Orr, Lemieux echelon.

Power for Mathew’s. If they take another contract, it evens out, skinner. Toronto needs D Sabres need solid scorer.
Send that draft pick and Cozens and Peterka to Toronto for Marner.
So trade paterka who’s a 60 pt player and will likely have more points cozens who is atleast 50pts maybe more and a pick for mitch who let’s be honest won’t be playing with Mathew’s so his points go down bad idea
