Came across this gem of a channel yesterday and binge watched. you have managed to do an amazing job here! The way you treat the story and lore makes it seem believable and engaging. My hat off to you and can't wait for more in the series to come.
It's finally here :D Fun thing is: I have an oddly similar story in my head about the commenwealth....okay, I wiped the brotherhood and am more synth friendly, but still. Good to see that someone is finally giving the minutemen the love they deserve. ^^
Also the 23rd of October is the national day of mourning in my story, where the nation stops and mourns the death of all the people that died in the great war, while the radio is playing the sound of a nuclear warning sirens the exact time it happend at the start of the great war (and in general the topic is all around in newspapers, talk shows etc. on that day). I'd imagine it would cause quite a conflict there, if the CoA would have their most holy day on the day the rest of the nation is mourning.
They could just go to Vermont or New Hampshire. There’s plenty of lumber there and I’d imagine no bigger settlements (so ruins and the countryside would be ripe for the picking) Great video!
Basically New Hampshire and Vermont are overrun with raiders so it's costing too much to guard the logging sites and the roads south and it's cheaper to transport lumber south by boat. Real reason is of course that there's the far harbor DLC doing nothing.
@@nexbil01 If only someone would hop to it and make a decent mod that allows you to go to these outer regions. There’s already New York (Operation Manhattan), but no Rhode Island and Connecticut. I appreciate modders’ dedication, but I feel those regions are somewhat underrepresented
This is eerily similar to how I envisioned the CA would develop and how the SS and Minutemen would handle them. I chose the Replace ending so that a coup d'etat could happen in the future and the more militaristic leader would declare war on Far Harbor and the Minutemen. I can now visualize that headcanon of mine LOL. I'm really glad you made this series and it's truly some amazing work!
Been watching this channel for several months now, this is my first time I've decided to comment, I just wanted you to know that you are an excellent storyteller, and I am very happy that I found this hidden gem of a channel.
This has been a great video, your storyline with the Island is great I like how you used the player as a background element & the fact that in the end the best ending for all three would end up causing problems, when will part two be out. Also your end credit sense of a thanons level build-up of a super mutant war is a great setup of things to come.
Basically all of the far harbor endings came with the potential for conflict. The Far Harbor situation was sort of built on a series of lies and you can't keep those lies hidden forever. More importantly you can't keep the rest of the world out. The glowing sea storyline would be my avengers endgame story but we'll see how it goes.
well considering that they would be inciting a war with their main ammunition suppliers and losing troops that they desperately need to retake all the land they've lost in the capital wasteland, it's probably best to not get too greedy.
I love how at 4:26 you incorporate parts of lore that happen in game like the Norwegian ghouls and Henry Cooke going missing this channel is awesome subbed

This would honestly be great as an overhaul mod for fallout 5, sort of like New California or Neuvo Mexico for New Vegas. It would be very interesting to see this take in game on how far harbor could change overtime. It would certainly show a great alternative to the stagnant world building that Bethesda likes to write.
in a sense I can understand Bethesda's decision. They're trying to tell just enough of a story to get through the game play but not so much that they tie themselves down to a particular narrative. One of the reasons that they left things so vague at the end of fallout 4 is that they wanted fans to determine which factions lived or died determined by popularity. Then of course some future writer can craft a story for fallout 5 appropriately. A money driven decision but then again they are a company. Obsidian had a similar tactic with new vegas. I'm frankly surprised at the amount of support that the legion has but it's undeniable. so it's pretty much up to fans to create a future until the real one arrives. Then of course all of this fiction I wrote probably means nothing.
I'd love to see a modlist where most enemy locations have been cleared out and rebuilt and inhabited with minutemen and settlers. Making the Commonwealth feel safe to walk the streets. Turning previous raider outposts into settlements and government buildings. Preferrebly with an alternate start option to skip the main quest as it would take place years after it's conclusion. Not sure what you'd actually do in the game as most quests would be no longer available with enemies cleared from those locations. It would have to be along the lines of FROST where its a total overhaul, but instead of removing friendly NPCs and making it harder it would do the opposite. Can't imagine it working unless all quests were auto completed when you started the game and references to raiders and mutants were removed. The more I say the more unfeasible it sounds.
I'm curious on how the new goverment of the Commonwealth works. Do you have any plans on going deeper into the politics of the new Commonwealth Goverment? Like how long would President Hancock serve as president, what are his powers and responsibilties, how does voting and citizenship work, I'm really enjoying your videos especially the way you give so much background and built up to the world and it's events. Well first thank you for subscribing. I don't know if there is enough support for a full video on the commonwealth government. I may do a community post on it. But in a nutshell, the commonwealth has a president, a 1-house congress, a court system, and of course a military. Hancock has 2 year terms with unlimited chances to be re-elected. He can't declare war or spend money without congress but he does determine how the money is spent and how the military is used so he has some leverage there. He does have the power to make treaties on his own but those treaties can be overturned if half of the congress disagrees with him. Congress is made up from one representative from each settlement. Currently there are 45 including the 3 from far harbor. They are divided into parties. One party represents the city of Boston. They are generally more favorable to business interests and progress. The other party represents the settlements in the countryside. They are more traditional and favor smaller government power. The court system is pretty basic at the moment and mainly focuses on criminal law than civil law. Prisoners, including those from the gunner and raider war are being held at thicket excavations doing hard labor. You have to apply for citizenship and only citizens are allowed to vote but since the commonwealth is encouraging migration, the rules are very lax. Basically just show up in the commonwealth and register. The minutemen are an all volunteer force but they are one of the few steady jobs available so they have no problems recruiting. Half the minutemen are reservists and Hancock needs congress to approve their use.

I hope to see more of these stories, they're very entertaining and definitely fill in holes that were left after Fallout 4. I'm a big fan of the minutemen and was sad to see such an interesting concept be reduced to mostly radiant quests and a fairly weak support system ( obviously there are many mods to fix that but still ) in games like Fallout NV it made sense that a military with limited resources wouldn't send their best to help someone even though that someone might be an important person ( Thinking of the NCR Beacon in Fallout NV ) but as the General of a Military Force you shouldn't just have farmers with leather armor at your disposal. I believe a big chunk of what I was missing was a sort of long term questline for the minutemen. Like finding old military caches, recruiting new members that could bring more to the faction and give it a few more named characters ( other than Ronnie Shaw and Preston Garvey ). Atleast something that would show them going up from a rag tag group of farmers with pipe guns at the beginning of the game, when the player themselves is fairly weak, but there should be more to the minutemen than recapturing the castle and helping settlements. Anyway thank you for making these videos it's great to see the minutemen getting the attention that they were lacking so much from Bethesda, I hope you'll continue your work you make the Phrase "Protecting the People at a Minutes Notice" actually mean something.
Gotta love that the minutemen took the "rebuilding America's way of life" so seriously that they even brought back the interventions and unnecessary wars Jokes aside, its interesting to think how this could end, considering that population is relatively "low" i cant imagine how bad it would get as it grows more and more

Will you ever start using a different form of Minutemen uniforms like Militarized Minutemen or are you gonna continue using the Combat Armor and Blue Military Fatigues?
basically no. I find militarized minutemen to be too generic for my purposes. You could change patches and make them into NCR or brotherhood or whoever. I needed something that made them look distinct from other groups in the wasteland. I know other people want to have more realistic equipment and weapons in their playthroughs but I wanted to strike a balance between fantasy and reality.
@@nexbil01 I would recommend if you ever get them to go toe to toe with the Brotherhood of Steel or the Enclave, that you'd give em a bit of an upgrade, as they look cool, but still kinda impractical.
hmmmm what can I tell you about them without giving it all away. They have mutants from the commonwealth, the capital wasteland, far harbor, Appalachia and even out west. So far 3 named mutants have appeared including brian virgil who re-mutated himself, Strong, and a super mutant called Viscious who was in the Master's army. Oh and I suppose Swan is there too since I name dropped him in the previous video. So we'll see who else shows up in future videos.

I find this series interesting to watch. However, my immersion broke a bit due to the fact that they were using the prewar American flag rather instead of the Minutemen/Commonwealth Flag.
well the thing is that the blue minutemen flag with the musket and lightning bolt is just that. It's the military flag of the minutemen but not the commonwealth. It's kind of like how everyone mistakes the confederate battle flag for the national flag. I looked online through every source I could find and there is no "official" flag for the commonwealth itself. I found several fan made flags online as well as fan made mods. I ultimately went with one of the more popular flag mods for the commonwealth. Purely a personal choice. You can however see the minutemen flag at the back of congress behind Hancock.
@@nexbil01 Nah, I 'd still prefer using the minutemen flag. Mainly because it looks cooler and is a more original faction Sigil opposed to reusing the U.S. flag. That and considering the U.S. became authoritarian during the Sino-American War. Also, if there's any faction in the fallout universe that's gonna use the old American flag, its most indefinitely going to be the Enclave.

Also this isn't the American flag it's a variant which has the minutemen logo in the blue field. I do have a couple older images with the American flag on it but the newer images all have the updated commonwealth flag.

The MC has single handedly changed the entire dynamic of Boston and an entire island. Been named hmfic or right hand man/women of all the major powers in the area, and the only reason there is any stability and functionality in those areas. Now talking game mechanics. You have spent months, building up, designing and establishing villages, all over the map. Defending them, feeding clothing them. And making sure they couldn't be wiped out by anything short of a horde event, and even then all you'd have to do, is be there, for them to win. I'd say, seeing as you'd have to actually do these things, in person, step by step, and successfully, that's a bit more than involved. Now let's translate that into game world perspective, and those months have become years doing these things. How is that, minimum involvement???? And as for your companions... The only reason half of them are even alive is by the MC's direct actions. Their abilities are little more than accents compared to the MC, and left to their own devices, would have gotten themselves offed, or offed eachother, because half of them would rather take a walk in the glowing sea, than work together. Don't believe me??? Try a companion modd, where you can have more than one at a time, and check out their interactions. They'd slit eachothers throat if the MC wasn't there, at worst, and not sneeze at the other guys demise at best. Without the MC. Half of them definitely wouldn't be working together of their own accord. The only reason for any cohesion or teamwork is the MC. ( But you should check out one of those mods because the back n forth between some of the companions is hilarious 🤣) As for the relationship, no mods, the MC potentially has a son to look after now, plus either is "with" multiple companions or is best friends to them. They are the MCs family now. Why would they leave them in the learch ??? And I'm looking at this from a story stand point. The MC, got to many ties, and has put in to much work, to walk away from it, and knows their friends to well, to leave it in their lap.
Yeah, the story reason is that it's overrun with raiders and the logging companies don't want to pay to remove them. The real reason is of course that we need something to bring the story to far harbor.

He does have the power to make treaties on his own but those treaties can be overturned if half of the congress disagrees with him.
Congress is made up from one representative from each settlement. Currently there are 45 including the 3 from far harbor. They are divided into parties. One party represents the city of Boston. They are generally more favorable to business interests and progress. The other party represents the settlements in the countryside. They are more traditional and favor smaller government power.
The court system is pretty basic at the moment and mainly focuses on criminal law than civil law. Prisoners, including those from the gunner and raider war are being held at thicket excavations doing hard labor.
You have to apply for citizenship and only citizens are allowed to vote but since the commonwealth is encouraging migration, the rules are very lax. Basically just show up in the commonwealth and register.
The minutemen are an all volunteer force but they are one of the few steady jobs available so they have no problems recruiting. Half the minutemen are reservists and Hancock needs congress to approve their use.
@@nexbil01 Wow that's sounds pretty interesting. I love the way you're taking the minutemen and the commonwealth goverment. I'm glad you took this approach. I hope to see more of these stories, they're very entertaining and definitely fill in holes that were left after Fallout 4. I'm a big fan of the minutemen and was sad to see such an interesting concept be reduced to mostly radiant quests and a fairly weak support system ( obviously there are many mods to fix that but still ) in games like Fallout NV it made sense that a military with limited resources wouldn't send their best to help someone even though that someone might be an important person ( Thinking of the NCR Beacon in Fallout NV ) but as the General of a Military Force you shouldn't just have farmers with leather armor at your disposal. I believe a big chunk of what I was missing was a sort of long term questline for the minutemen. Like finding old military caches, recruiting new members that could bring more to the faction and give it a few more named characters ( other than Ronnie Shaw and Preston Garvey ). Atleast something that would show them going up from a rag tag group of farmers with pipe guns at the beginning of the game, when the player themselves is fairly weak, but there should be more to the minutemen than recapturing the castle and helping settlements.
Anyway thank you for making these videos it's great to see the minutemen getting the attention that they were lacking so much from Bethesda, I hope you'll continue your work you make the Phrase "Protecting the People at a Minutes Notice" actually mean something.

Will you ever start using a different form of Minutemen uniforms like Militarized Minutemen or are you gonna continue using the Combat Armor and Blue Military Fatigues?
basically no. I find militarized minutemen to be too generic for my purposes. You could change patches and make them into NCR or brotherhood or whoever. I needed something that made them look distinct from other groups in the wasteland.
I know other people want to have more realistic equipment and weapons in their playthroughs but I wanted to strike a balance between fantasy and reality.
@@nexbil01 I would recommend if you ever get them to go toe to toe with the Brotherhood of Steel or the Enclave, that you'd give em a bit of an upgrade, as they look cool, but still kinda impractical.

hmmmm what can I tell you about them without giving it all away.
They have mutants from the commonwealth, the capital wasteland, far harbor, Appalachia and even out west. So far 3 named mutants have appeared including brian virgil who re-mutated himself, Strong, and a super mutant called Viscious who was in the Master's army.
Oh and I suppose Swan is there too since I name dropped him in the previous video.
So we'll see who else shows up in future videos.
I expect when the situation in far harbor has been dealt with the next thing on the list is nuka world?

it depends. Sometimes I set up scenes and then use console commands to start the action. Sometimes I use video effects.
I find this series interesting to watch. However, my immersion broke a bit due to the fact that they were using the prewar American flag rather instead of the Minutemen/Commonwealth Flag.
well the thing is that the blue minutemen flag with the musket and lightning bolt is just that. It's the military flag of the minutemen but not the commonwealth. It's kind of like how everyone mistakes the confederate battle flag for the national flag.
I looked online through every source I could find and there is no "official" flag for the commonwealth itself. I found several fan made flags online as well as fan made mods. I ultimately went with one of the more popular flag mods for the commonwealth. Purely a personal choice.
You can however see the minutemen flag at the back of congress behind Hancock.
@@nexbil01 Nah, I 'd still prefer using the minutemen flag. Mainly because it looks cooler and is a more original faction Sigil opposed to reusing the U.S. flag.
That and considering the U.S. became authoritarian during the Sino-American War.
Also, if there's any faction in the fallout universe that's gonna use the old American flag, its most indefinitely going to be the Enclave.

If you go for the perfect ending. The MC has single handedly changed the entire dynamic of Boston and an entire island. Been named hmfic or right hand man/women of all the major powers in the area, and the only reason there is any stability and functionality in those areas.
Now talking game mechanics. You have spent months, building up, designing and establishing villages, all over the map. Defending them, feeding clothing them. And making sure they couldn't be wiped out by anything short of a horde event, and even then all you'd have to do, is be there, for them to win. I'd say, seeing as you'd have to actually do these things, in person, step by step, and successfully, that's a bit more than involved.
Now let's translate that into game world perspective, and those months have become years doing these things. How is that, minimum involvement????
And as for your companions... The only reason half of them are even alive is by the MC's direct actions. Their abilities are little more than accents compared to the MC, and left to their own devices, would have gotten themselves offed, or offed eachother, because half of them would rather take a walk in the glowing sea, than work together.
Don't believe me??? Try a companion modd, where you can have more than one at a time, and check out their interactions. They'd slit eachothers throat if the MC wasn't there, at worst, and not sneeze at the other guys demise at best. Without the MC. Half of them definitely wouldn't be working together of their own accord. The only reason for any cohesion or teamwork is the MC. ( But you should check out one of those mods because the back n forth between some of the companions is hilarious 🤣)
As for the relationship, no mods, the MC potentially has a son to look after now, plus either is "with" multiple companions or is best friends to them. They are the MCs family now. Why would they leave them in the learch ???
And I'm looking at this from a story stand point. The MC, got to many ties, and has put in to much work, to walk away from it, and knows their friends to well, to leave it in their lap.

Yeah, the story reason is that it's overrun with raiders and the logging companies don't want to pay to remove them. The real reason is of course that we need something to bring the story to far harbor.
