Josiah tells Gideon goodnight

Gideon has a degenerative genetic condition called Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder (PBD). It's left him legally blind, profoundly deaf, and unable to walk (among many other complications). That being said, it hasn't stopped him from experiencing love and joy.
In this video, his little brother Josiah is telling him goodnight...and it's absolutely heartwarming. This kind of empathy cannot be taught. Rather its formed through the fiery trials that come with disability. They have seen what their brother has to go through and they continue love him through it.
We often get asked, how much does Gideon understand? And the truth is, we don't know. We do modified tactile signing with him, but he's never responded back to us with any kind of signing. Unfortunately, PBD deteriorates the myelin sheath in his brain; so it's hard to tell if he cannot communicate because of the deaf/blindness or the brain deterioration (probably a combination of both).
