Likely cause you don't get to see most of the shark. The problem with modern audiences is they want to see the animal more and then bash it. cause that's the trend these days. '
@@Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent why does everyone (including you) say that modern times are horrible and everyone is messed up and stuff, even when they know it's not true
@@itspenguin7187 Cause it is true at least on the everyone part. I don't think modern times is horrible I do believe socially we are in a crisis.. Look at how films are seen in the last 5 years give or take. People don't care anymore about the movie other than to troll on it. Although I believe its more of a example of current society and not just simply everyone is messed up. For the most part a good portion of people are openly hostile doesn't matter if its good or bad. I believe it has more to do with the social issues now. PC idiots, trolls, Political hostility, gender or racial hostility they all contribute. Add to social media where you have people who literally made careers bashing films, people, actors or society and its just the new norm. This won't end until society stabilizes.

Very true actually. While it did inspire interest in sharks where there hadn't been before, it also installed hatred and fear, disregarding the fact that sharks, especially Great Whites do not like to eat humans.

This 'Clunky' mechanical contrivance is scarier than any CGI Shark/Sharknado (I love that film by the way). In exactly the same way that the Ray Harryhausen Stop-Motion Skeleton Army in Jason and the Argonauts are and will always be the scariest walking dead in cinema. There is something in our brains that knows that did actually happen, therefore it is real, therefore (if the acting is good) so is the story, consequently we are terrified and that is why when I fight skeletons I wear protection, and that ladies and gentleman is why I do what I do. BRAVO This is a fantastic video. Thank you 🏆
I agree the movie was made better by not showing the shark in every scene but I do kind of wish we got that more graphic version of Alex’s death (where you actually see the Shark come out of the water and grab the poor boy in a fountain of blood) if just because the picture and actual behind the scenes footage of it looked awesome and genuinely terrifying.
My favourite part of Jaws is when the town is having that first meeting and Quint is scratching on the chalkboard and everyone goes silent. That scene hit me the most for some reason when I first watched it.
The opening bit where the girl was eaten, and the bit where the scientist is swimming around the wreck of the boat is by far the scariest parts of the film for me. Watched it when I was 6 and it gave me nightmares for weeks. Even to this day I don't like open water because of it.
How do you make a video about this and not mention or show the barrels? They are a huge reason why Spielberg was able to get away with showing so little of the shark. Take away the barrel scenes and you have a problem.
I saw Jaws when it came out in theaters, and I just watched it again. First time in years. In addition to the restraint in shark use mentioned in this video, I think a lot of the film's power comes from the second half. The whole time we are out on that boat with Brody, Quint, and Hooper, and it's a masterpiece of sustained tension.
Could you cover the production difficulties of 'Saturn 3' please? Again it has another hydrolically operated robot that was a disaster to film but there was even more trouble behind the scenes with directors being fired, lead actor, in his sixties, insisting on doing full nudity and having it written into the script, dubbing Harvey Keital and so much more.....
Seeing as how the shark was almost a failure, Spielberg, Shaw, Dreyfuss, and Scheider holed up in a local Martha's Vineyard motel and re-wrote the script around the the fact they had no working animatronic leading "man." They beefed up the character moments, and Spielberg allowed for improvisation, and let that drive the story and not the shark itself. That, my friends, is how you rescue a movie from certain disaster. Most actors just read their lines, get a fat paycheck, and leave. Spielberg and his cast were consummate professionals who went above and beyond. They were not going to let this movie tank.
My father worked on the underwater issues. The only picture I have of him is underwater with Bruce in the background. ( He wasn't a big deal, just was the only welder with scuba certification they could find on the island lol)

Good video clip explaining the backstory of Jaws’ mechanical shark, Bruce, and it’s many mishaps during the filming of one of the most popular movies in cinematic history.
No, no. Let me guess. Mother...
Mr. Hooper. That’s the USS Indianapolis..
And Quints story that follows....
If there was a heart also instead of a like yeah... this 1 wins!!!!! Hands down as much as I liked the whole movie and the climactic "Smile You Son Of A" that takes the cake
I think that scene is what made Quint “Robert Shaw” the most human. Showed his fears
One of the best scenes of all-time. Hands down.
YOU WERE ON THE INDIANAPOLIS ?
ONE ICONIC SCENE,RUINED BY THE FOLLOWING,THE BANG BANG BANG ON THE SIDE OF THE BOAT? WHAT THE SHIT? THE SHARK WUDDA HAD TO HAVE HAD A BIG RED KEY LIKE UK POLICE USE, IT WAS TOO FAST , I MEAN THE BANGS WERE WAY TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, ALTHOUGH AFTER THE "USS INDIONAPOLIS" SCENE THAT IS JUST BEING OVERLY CRITICAL I GUESS, I LOVED (LOVE) THE ORIGINAL MOVIE, LETS FACE FACTS, FOR THE SEVENTIES THAT WAS ONE INCREDIBLE FEAT OF CINEMATICS
Quint wasn’t kidding when he said he was gonna Drown the shark.
Random Fact: I love Sharks, and I love the movie Jaws, and my dad was born the same week Jaws came out.
Coincidence?
Yes
I loveee sharks and I was born on the same day as jaws came out! Not the same year tho lol
Jaws scared the hell out of me as a child in the theatre..and that fear stays with me today. That's one movie, they can't redo today...it would never be the same.
How do you not have more subs? Great Video!!
Because he doesn't know the difference between animatronic and pneumatic.
My favorite part is probably the opening scene with the poor girl. 😦
background music?
and yes hes absolutely right about the fact that the "worst" shark is the one we don't see
Audionautix- Atlantis
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
This move showcased the absolute genius that Spielberg is, and paved the way for man films to come... Jurassic park , friggin Schindler's list. So many masterpieces he's done..
They will never eclipse this movie because everything now is unconvincing CGI
It’s like night and day. Or day and night.
I can remember Jaws coming to the cinema in 75, I was 8 yrs old. It was a mega movie first of its kind. You then had Star Wars, Close Encounters etc.
"The shark is not working khhsss the shark is not working"
The kid on the raft getting chomped is still one of my worst nightmares. Especially the squirting blood!
He protecc
He attacc
But most of all
Well, he just attacc
Bruce never protecc anyone tho.
It goes to show that you can encounter a lot of setbacks in life, however it is the completion of the set out task that makes it all worth it in the end!
Back then: Animatronics aren't scary at all
Now: People are afraid of FNAF
How the tables have turned
FNAF hasn’t been relevant since 2015.
My dude
Fantastic collection of photos and footage! Thanks
Fav moment: When Brody lurches back when shark emerges from the water following “why don’t cha come down here and chum some of this shit!”
"The shark is not working, the shark is not working!"
“Alright, take 2 of the shark breaking the dock.”
*mechanical shark shorts circuit*
“Wait, Steven. I think the shark is having some technical difficulties breaking the dock.”
These things are scarier than real sharks
I remember my dad saying he went to the pictures to see Jaws & he remembers the screams from the audience, which were pissing him right off eventually 😆.
Then he taped it on VHS one night, showed me the film when I was like at the age of 5yrs I think... I thank him for it though because it is a classic that I've seen over 50 times.
Sharks aren’t as bad as jaws makes them
That's what makes jaws a dodgy film. It makes people hate sharks
Very true actually. While it did inspire interest in sharks where there hadn't been before, it also installed hatred and fear, disregarding the fact that sharks, especially Great Whites do not like to eat humans.
Ah yes, sharks are pets just like dogs. They are soooo sweat.
@yeah ok I did because people don’t know you don’t need to get disrespectful people are afraid of them
@@deborahwoodkey762 people are afraid of them and it pisses me off. Jaws is a horror film ik but they took it to literally. Shark attacks only happen because people are stupid. The sad thing is sharks may go extinct. People are cutting off their fins and throwing them back in the ocean to die. Sharks are awesome. People took this good film to literally. I love jaws its not scary its kinda humorous to me.
For when it was made u seriously can't complain
"Many movies have tried to do the same, but none came close."
Me: Umm... Deep Blue Sea?
No, that didn't come close.
@@peterfrank3365 But it was good, nonetheless.
Deep blue sea was good but I would have preferred they used more animatronic sharks because that roaring great white at the end just wasn't as scary as the one in jaws
@@Katie-gr9mt Yeah, the animatronic does give off the spook factor more than CGI, but I still think DBS pulled it off quite nicely.
Seriously?! The Shallows Is 500 Steps Ahead Of Jaws
Man I love this movie.I’m from New England (MA),grew up spending my summers on Cape Cod and the Vineyard fishing, boating and swimming and I have the movie poster framed and hanging in my basement!
God can turn disasters into masterpieces. The things that seemingly were going to ruin the movie ended up making it a classic.
God bless everyone.
@Dylan Stewart I did watch it. The mistakes with the mechanical sharks weren't planned though. And in the end not showing the shark made it a better movie in my opinion.
God bless you.
@Dylan Stewart Newl you mean?
@@FeedingFrenzy91 jaws 2 is better than the original imo. I think it’s a lot more effective to me
@@gvidovaldmanis6377 Truth be told don't think I've ever watched 2 like as a full (I've watched parts and saw the ending I believe) but one thing about 2 was that the mayor is still there. I feel like he would have been impeached or something after what happened in Jaws.
God bless you.
@@FeedingFrenzy91 please watch it, that’s my favorite jaws movie and I really think it’s scarier and more effective than the first one
I’d like to thank you very much for making this video! ☺️
y'all, what if when they were filming and an actor got in the water and thought that it was the animatronic shark coming at it but really it was an actual great white. i'm literally pooping my pants just thinking about swimming with a fake one my god.
Farewell and adieu to all you fare Spanish ladies Farewell and adieu to all you ladies of Spain
For we've received orders d'sail back Boston
And so never more shall we see you again'
It's not animatronic, it's pneumatic.
@@liquidbraino IT LITERALLY SAYS ANIMATRONIC IN THE TITLE YOU'RE A STUPID PERSON YOU'RE WRONG
Thank you 🏆
"That's a 20 footer....25....3 tons of em".
I agree the movie was made better by not showing the shark in every scene but I do kind of wish we got that more graphic version of Alex’s death (where you actually see the Shark come out of the water and grab the poor boy in a fountain of blood) if just because the picture and actual behind the scenes footage of it looked awesome and genuinely terrifying.
jaws 1 will be the best movie shark forever,
OH HELL YEAH!
Bloody oath. I have a heap of LTD Edition dvds. But I still watch it on Foxtel when it's on. It's Legendary.
My favourite part of Jaws is when the town is having that first meeting and Quint is scratching on the chalkboard and everyone goes silent. That scene hit me the most for some reason when I first watched it.
3:22 Who agrees in that photo it looks like he's crying?
“why you abandon me in water :(
@@squidwardgaming1087 its sad ay.
Bruce didn't like being portrayed as a man-eating monster because sharks are not as dangerous as Hollywood portrays them to be
Love this video Dude.
My favorite part of JAWS is when Chief Brody , Quint & Hooper head out to sea to find - JAWS !!! 👍🏻🦈👍🏻
I seen that same animatronic shark at universal studios back in 2014 it was badass 🔥🔥🤣
"Blow up. Smile you son of a 8****" lol favorite part of the movie
How bout "Blazin Saddles" thats classic heeeellaaaaroius before its time movie
That would never come out today. “Morning ma’am “.
Yep. Barrels were used to imply the shark was there. He can't go down with 3 barrels on him, he can't.
“You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat”
THAT WORD ON JAWS IS SO ICONIC OWHDBSAWM
Could you imagine if they canceled filming because of this
I saw Jaws when it came out in theaters, and I just watched it again.
They were not going to let this movie tank.

me: awww bruce is so cute uwu

me: I TAKE THAT BACK
My father worked on the underwater issues. The only picture I have of him is underwater with Bruce in the background. ( He wasn't a big deal, just was the only welder with scuba certification they could find on the island lol)
Jaws was made in 1975 and yet it's still the best Damn shark film ever created. It's funny to think that with all the technology and special effects we have today we still can't make a great Shark movie
I rewatched it recently again and it’s still great. I’ve been watching it all my life and have no clue how many times I seen it.
Jaws will always be the best shark movie no matter what, not even The Meg can top Jaws
@@diegofavaratozfilms962 You're so right
@@zacpanther6364 I think jaws 2 is better.

WOW, I'm going to my movie room right now and watch Jaws just because of your very informative video.
Great work and fact checking.
