That song is The Maine Christmas Song, it was written in about a week when Bob Elliot, a reporter for channel 6 decided Maine needed a Christmas song just before Christmas in 1986.
I Remember our windows were hinged so we copen and close them as needed. Your calves are looking great. They sure do trust you. But that is to be expected. You treat them with care and love. Have a great day and God Bless.
Good afternoon, Taylor, I hope you are doing well, we don’t get much snow here in Georgia, maybe once every 7 years or so and it might last a couple of hours. If it’s okay to ask why are there rules on spreading manure? Is it because of the smell? I know I put it in my garden whenever I want. Say Hi to Brent. It is so cool that he lets you video so many aspects of farm life. Love it. You are truly a jack of all trades! Amazing!
Not a good surprise either! Hopefully the rest of our fall is snow free, but that’s probably too much to ask😂. Thanks for watching have a good evening!
That Zero bulk tank that you have there could easily be 50 years old. They stopped making them in the early to mid 80’s. Brent talking about having that tank under vacuum, he had to have a Zero milking system, they were the only ones that ever did that. The claw had 2 different vacuum levels in it 20 on the bottom of the milker to take the milk to the tank and 13 at the teat end to milk the cow.
Hey Taylor, cold here in the Texas panhandle. 80’s one day then the cold front hit. Had three nights of 22-28. We get the wind to go with it. Only thing between you and the wind is a 5 wire barbed wire fence, no trees just a sea of grass. They don’t make any exterior paint worth a crap anymore. Costs a fortune and peels off in a few years. What kind of cold weather gloves do y’all use? Figured someone in Maine would have some good suggestions. We don’t get much cold weather here but when it hits, it can be brutal. Thanks for the ride along. Keep yer powder dry.
Just a suggestion, next time you need to reattach the foam put some big washers under the screws, it will keep the foam from pulling off. You can buy washers or cut them out of thin metal or plastic. Keep up the good work and stay warm.
Winter is coming, we already had snow and in the low 20s the other morning. We should get one more warm week before winter really sets in. The weather people are saying it will be a supe El Nino winter so northern states get less moisture and warmer weather than normal and southern states get more moisture and colder than normal. Thank you for making the video for us to watch. I hope you all stay safe and healthy.
We didn’t get snow in are part of maine but over at my dads where I farm got about dusting to a inch also I got some nice light that I got through my work that are LED in my barn and let me tell ya I’ll never go back to a regular light bulb
Taylor it got down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit this morning here in North Carolina,,and it stayed that temperature for ten hours before starting to creep up at 9:30 am
Good morning Taylor. We had snow here in Wisconsin also. Some areas had 5 inches. Those little heifers are really cute and respond to you very well. If I am counting right, including the heifers in the other barn , you must be at 10 replacement heifers now. Have you and Brent ever considered expanding your herd? Just curious. Enjoyed watching your video as I sit here in front of my warm wood stove. Keep smiling, keep farming, and stay warm. 🐄🚜😉
Hi! That is too much snow for early November 🌨️🥶. Yep I think we are at 11 replacements now. We have talked a few times about expanding a bit but nothing set in stone. I’m glad you enjoyed watching, even better to stay warm while doing so!!😉 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
Good Morning Ms. Taylor, I apologize because I didn’t get the chance to comment on your last Sunday post, but surely will on this latest post. I don’t want to sound like an echo, but it amazes me the stuff you try your hand at. Like the last Sunday post you were doing electrical work. And that also goes for Brent. The money you guys save by doing DIY’s saves a tremendous amount of bucks. I must say that you are really prepped on knowledge to run your own farm someday. Your “Can Do” attitude is your number 1 trait on the farm. Another reason I love your video posts. Have a great weekend and I’m anxiously awaiting your Sunday post. Stay warm, be careful and take care. Simply the best.
Hello Taylor who works on a dairy farm in Maine and makes videos about daily life on a small dairy farm. Why yes I do enjoys these types of videos, I have subscribed already. Lol I always look forward to your videos. Stay warm.
amazing how many small piddely jobs there are on a farm you 2 work well together brent seems to be a good boss dont know how it is when the camera is off cant be you having it bothers him
I worked on a hog farm when I was younger. I'm old now. 63 but it was never ending whining and breeding every week. Cleaning all the stalls and castration. Plus injections. It was very hard work. My boss doubled the size of the operation because I was so efficient. Hated the smell though. We turned out many pigs every week. Thanks why I appreciate what you do ❤
I would love to have that Zero sign! I was always amazed at the Market Zero had around me, everyone had Zero, then they vanished. Did Brent have the Zero milkers along with the tank when it was new? I was told they were a good setup, but they were long gone by the time I come along.
I love watching your videos. Excellent content. Ya'll stay busy on the farm. When I was young, lad, I worked on my granddaddy dairy farm in the summertime. I am in my 60s now and miss it a lot. Have a great weekend.
Great to follow yall along as u complete ur winter 'to-do' list!! I feel u on the weather change....I live in western NC and it was upper 70's this past Sat....temps fell on Sunday and last night @ my house it was 23ºf. George (my lab that likes ur voice) loved the heavy frost this morning!!!!
So glad you join us! So you feel our pain!! It’s so hard to get used to the weird weather changes🥶😟. So glad George at least enjoyed the frosty weather!!☺️ Give him a pet from me!!
@tayfarms very welcome Yet again, thank you Love, what you are doing. I used be on a farm with my dad(God rest his soul) as you know, family farms fade because industry chokes out small ones .
Awesome video again Taylor thanks for sharing. The weather with you has certainly changed. In the UK at the moment it's been stormy and very wet ,bring back the sun 🌞. Great to watch how you alter the barn for winter hope you manage to keep warm take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
🇺🇲 Hi Tay, I have followed & enjoyed your work since I ran across your it 6 months+/- ago. I'm a fellow Maineac, live approximately 200 miles NNE of you in 'the County'. I have to apologize, slowly getting overcome by numbness the older I get which started after my teens when I knew everything 😂! I prefer to watch youtube on TV comment on my phone, just one of my quirks. The 10K+ acre farm tubers are fun to watch, they have all the 'latest and greatest', things I used to dream about growing up and later potatoe and vegetable farming 😲. But as a kid there was 6 small dairy farms 4 tater farms, now one potatoe farmer(85 years old). The country, hell the world, needs more farms like Sunnydale, and more people to support them! But government with questionable(being kind), economics, industry & etc are pretty strong headwinds so best of luck with your long-term dream. I'm embarrassed to say that when I went to like comment this video I noticed that I hadn't been subscribed all this time, my bad 😬!! Problem solved, keep it real, a take on the state's "Get Real" program? Please continue with the great content and what's with peoplecomplainingabouttalkingtoofast, I never noticed, LMAO. 😂🚜🐄👍
I understand why to button the barn up the way you did. I just hope you never have a fire in it and need to get out quick. Your safety should always come first.
It would be nice to run an auger from your cornmeal bin into the barn to keep from going outside during the winter months and probably would be less waste.
Another great video Tay.😊 I miss the days of getting the milk barn buttoned up for winter. Same weather down here snow and cold.🥶 We had the same tank it would suck the milk from dumping station to the tank we milked with surge bucket milkers. Got new tank when we put in pipeline. 😊
Thanks! Prepping for winter is kinda bittersweet isn’t it. That’s so cool that you had a very similar setup! Thanks so much for watching and stay warm!!❄️🙂
I don't know about in your area but where I live. There's a lot of barn cleaners that are just wasting away because there's no dairy in our area, it like there was 10 years ago, and it's too bad it's live so far away because you could probably get that. For junk price, and then you could have lots of parts for your barn cleaner. And yes, we got snow, but it didn't stick. It was just set a little dusting. You can hardly even say it. But the temperature has been in lower 30s for just about a week. Now here in Iowa. But they keep calling that nasty word. But we're gonna get it someday. But this weather be in UP and down. Sure does not do any good for animals or people. 'cause you don't know how to dress for the day, so good luck. For what you're doing and keep the videos coming, there's always. Duane
In Queensland Australia we don't get ❄️🌨️ so we have no idea what you are going through here we have 90 degree days most of the year and cycles and flooding and bush 🚒🔥 but no real cold weather in victory and south Australia it gets cold but not like yous . Love your show by❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
It has been awhile Tay. What ever happened to the sprouts you were feeding the girls. I did not notice any of them or heard about them in quite a while.
Hi! That’s a tough question 🤔. I guess I would have to say spring. Mostly because it’s the start of all the field work, preparing equipment and just in general a new beginning!
Hello from Fayetteville TN. Love your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good morning! My worst day farming was still better than my best day driving truck! What better way to spend a winter day? Playing in the barn!
Nice Video Taylor Good Luck from North of Ireland
That song is The Maine Christmas Song, it was written in about a week when Bob Elliot, a reporter for channel 6 decided Maine needed a Christmas song just before Christmas in 1986.
Zero tanks are great because you put the agitator in reverse to wash. Simple design wish they were still built and I'd love to have that sign!
If you have to work you might as well find something you love. You have learned this lesson early in life and it shows with your positive attitude.
The "calfeteria"? Brilliant! Cold seems to drop in early and harshly on the farm!
😂 right! It sure does feel that way!
@@tayfarmsYour culture is beautiful.❤😂احبك

Funny climate out there yesterday making hay today out on sleigh 😂😂

Great job
Thanks!
Hi . We have 20 cm / 8 inch of snow yesterday here in Finland . Winter came early this year . 🥶🌨❄☃⛸
The snow surprised me. Hope it’s not a sign of what’s coming. Great video have a good weekend
Not a good surprise either! Hopefully the rest of our fall is snow free, but that’s probably too much to ask😂. Thanks for watching have a good evening!
Thanks for sharing your day with us Taylor. Best wishes, Deb
I know you got a lot of feet of manure chain , should get some newer chain with winter coming on .
In southern Wisconsin we got the same weather too. Winter is long here too. Early to start this soon. Time to get ready reluctantly.

Taylor it got down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit this morning here in North Carolina,,and it stayed that temperature for ten hours before starting to creep up at 9:30 am
Just think you're going to get everything cleaned up. Around the barn, that will freeze down.that is in the way for moving snow

I don't think I've ever seen a house that was connected directly to the milking barn before seeing it on this channel.
👍
I haven’t seen one of those tanks in a very long time…..

Are you in Aroostook?
