I honestly didn’t really feel like I knew what was going on in the stormlight archive until I got to book 3, where a lot of the history gets explained. I think you’re meant to be just a little confused at times, but it’s still my favorite series!
Jasnah gives Shallan a book about the orders of the Knights Radiant call Words of Radiance. Just like the The Way of Kings was the title of the first book and an in world book as well.
So... About the "characters being too young" thing... Thier planet is different from earth so there are 500 days a year, but 20 hours a day. That bring Kaladin from 20-year-old to 22 on earth, and Shallan from 17 to almost 19 on earth. It's not that much of a difference, but I hope this kinda help.😂😂
[Spoiler of words of radiance] . . . I love the moment when Kaladin realised the king is Dalinar's Tien. And bringing him to speak the word "I will protect even thos I hate". One thing I love abut this magic system is that in order to be STRONGER, our characters have to be BETTER first.❤
I will contribute my grain of sand for those who find it difficult and have already read the book. Minor spoilers beware. These books are VERY dense in content, the story is discovered little by little, it is not overwhelming but it does reward being attentive. It's a good idea to remember small details about how the world works, especially the sprens, the stories, the interludes, the terms, everything without fail is for a reason and has its explanation, some more, some less. For example, shadesmar was already mentioned a little in the last book and now in this one it is explored a lot more, the portals, the doors, are a connection with it. The orders are named and it doesn't hurt but each book represents one and also a character, have fun making theories! This book is the best for this. Finally, pay attention to the capitalized terms! and read the epigraphs! Enjoy the saga very much! It would be great if as you read you could also tell your theories in the book or at the end, greetings! and prepare for oathbringer
Ooog you gave me some super valuable tips! I need to keep an eye out for capitalized terms… I am starting Edgedancer next week, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into it… although those interludes are painful…
Its totally ok to be confused about elements of the world and history. Brandon doesn't spell stuff out for you here; and even the characters in the story are unclear about the true nature of the history of Roshar. Sometimes you just have to let the world wash over you till it starts to make sense.
That is such great advice - I am trying! In both books, I wasn't sure if I was missing something or if I am supposed to be confused like the characters. I am very interested in the plot though!
I didn’t know (or might’ve forgotten) that you don’t like sci-fi! I also didn’t know you haven’t read Harry Potter! 😮 Harry Potter is a portal fantasy but definitely not sci-fi, so you’d be safe with those books. I don’t think I’ve ever read Calvin and Hobbs! 😂 Glad you’re having a great time with this series!
I have seen all the HP movies... does that count? 🤣 That is probably because it is hard to define sci-fi vs fantasy sometimes, and also what is PURE sci-fi vs a combination. For me when I say I don't like sci-fi, I mean I don't like portals, advanced weapons, technology stuff or space travel. Time travel can be ok but it depends. Stormlight Archive is so consuming, I am loving the experience!
Yay for enjoying your time with the Stormlight Archive! Friggin Amaram and Sadeas just are the worst I just want horrible things to happen to them all the time lolol SPOILERS And almost, the Stormfather summoned the High Storm to wash away the bodies from the Everstorm which was summoned by the Parshendi, and his reasons for being antagonistic towards humans will definitely be explored. Also...he is not the Almighty but you will have more clarity on that I think in the next book. Also, Urithiru is not a different dimension just a different location on Roshar, and I can understand feeling like the portal was almost technologically driven, but I think I am used to teleportation magic in fantasy because of the Forgotten Realms
****SPOILERS***** That helps a lot, thank you. I did not realize Stormfather and the Almighty were different - but Dalinar got one of their spren to attach to him (I think the being talking to him in the visions??) so that is pretty bada$$. Are we supposed to know who saved the assassin in white? Is he a good guy now at the end of book 2?
@@JAKandtheBookStack I just finished words of radiance last night so I can answer on what you should know in this book specifically. I’ll send you an Instagram voice message in a bit answering that with info you should know up to this point 🤗

That makes me feel SO much better, thank you! I can enjoy the experience a little more if I know it’s intended to be vague vs I’m just dumb lol
I'm from the Philippines, your reading vlog is so fun! I'm currently reading Words of Radiance as well, getting reading to read Book 5 on December.
Hello to the Philippines ☀️ is this your first time reading the series too?? I’m about to start book 3 this week, I’m so excited

I loved seeing the title in the text! And did the knights radiant write this book or is it just about them??
@@JAKandtheBookStack good question, might require a brief reread, but I believe it was written shortly after the Recreance by historians/scholars.

I guess that makes sense.. it still shocked me though!!

So fun! I'm reading Words of Radiance right now as well, for the first time. 10 chapters left to go
Oh my gosh so much is happening in the last 10 chapters too! It’s a whirlwind

Dear Kind Angel...if someone asked me if angel exists on this earth... Then I am going to remember you as Cinderella 💓❤️
Thank you, that is so kind
