    I recently had a closed sinus lift done. More precisely, they started doing it, and then the doctor said: “You have a complication, perforation of the maxillary sinus. We’ll postpone the operation for about a month and a half.” Then he stitched up the wound.
    It turns out they made a hole for me, before that I didn’t even think that sinus lift surgery was so dangerous, because... all the doctors said that this was a very easy operation, “we’ll just tighten the gums a little”; and now I read what complications people have. Many people then develop problems with ENT diseases.
    Now it’s unclear, alternatives haven’t really been developed yet - and this operation is now scary to do. Although the clinic is considered one of the best in the city.
    Does anyone have any experience with this operation? Or a few years after it, how do you feel? Did you have sinusitis, etc.?

    Today I was in the chair for four hours. I had four difficult extractions where the roots were fused to the jaw and took a long time to extract. I then had three implants put in one side and two on the other (then two lower right side) I had lost bone because of old tooth loss following trauma and infection and accident, not neglect. The dentist numbed me up really well then drilled into the jaw to the sinus and then 'hammerd' it up with an instrument and a hammer. The pain and vibrations were incredible despite the numbing. He then for some reason (couldn't ask) used a bone expander that eaked up into the nerve and again incredible unbearable pain several times. I then had the implants put in with bone grafting and about 60 stitches top and bottom. When I got out of the chair I couldn't walk, my body wouldn't cooporate and the pain was all encompassing. I then had a butt injection for the pain and another for swelling and given two antibiotics, a pro biotic, a stong pain killer, mouthwash and a nasal spray. The pain eventually subsided and I ate because of the antibiotics as I have a fragile stomach. I have a long list of don'ts, from blowing my nose, to hot showers, to alcohol (don't drink anyway) to sleeping sitting up. I have no idea what the next days will bring as I have to be fitted with temporary crowns as they filed down all my other teeth and in six months they fit all zirconium crowns. I had to keep thinking of the end result and the difference it would make to my life but during the procedure all I could focus on was killing the dentist and setting fire to the clinic! I got over that of course.

      Jesus that doesn't sound fun or normal. Shouldn't you not feel anything besides pressure during the procedure? I get that after when the numbing wears off you'll feel it, but I would freak the hell out if I felt it during lol. They'd have to knock my butt out

      @@amymbeauty8765 Yes when I told my dentist in France he said that doing all these procedures together in one session was illegal and unethical in France. I am quite a few weeks post op today and the last stitches are out, some by me and there is surprisingly little pain. Several teeth are sensitive to hot and cold so I presume that they filed down the teeth too much and they now need to be treated and sealed. For now I have to wait at least six months for the implants to take and healing to happen. I have no regrets, I should simply have researched the sinus lift more before the operation !

      @@amymbeauty8765 I just had this done yesterday. There was no pain at the site of the lift, it was totally numbed out of course. However since it was in the back corner it requires your mouth to be open and extended for a long period of time with a lot of pressure put on the side of your jaw and mouth. So while not actually painful but the sound of the drilling and vibration was intense as was the pressure on the side of my mouth, which I would put as extremely uncomfortable, mainly because of the amount of time that it took. Afterward there was no pain, no swelling since I made sure to do a lot of icing. IF I had to do it again I might get knocked out, only because of the discomfort due to the total time it took. However it was a cost consideration, since it was already too much. Not sure if in the long run it is really just better to leave it alone, after all it is in the back and you can;t see it.

Taking ibuprofen and penicillin and soft diet x 1 week. Spent $9,000 for 2 implants here in Castro Valley, CA. The oral surgeon Dr. Shimane was very good. I had a single extraction (badly cracked 1st molar as 50-year-old metal filling failed - other teeth healthy) and the sinus had dropped within a month. Sinus lift, synthetic bone graft, and short and broad implant. No visible bruising. I do notice occasional sinus discomfort on that side if I get a cold that I never had previously - otherwise, no problems.

      @drgurssehmi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the important thing is that there is no connection from the sinus to your mouth (oro-antral communication, or OSC). If you have a drink and it comes through your nose, then you have this. Even if you do - it can be repaired, but you need a good surgeon, not a general dentist. The advice about blowing noses, avoiding air travel etc is all good, and try your best to stick to it. I am not sure what the forehead pain might be - that sinus is not normally effected. It could be something unrelated

    Thanks for this video. I'm going through the implant process and was told I'll need a sinus lift. Would it change things if I opted for a bridge instead of the implant? Would I still need the sinus lift?

      You don't need an sinus lift for dental bridge. Did you do something?

      No. The area of the sinus that is lifted is very small.

      Hi, yes, the only sinuses that effect dental implants are in the check bones. There are no sinuses in the lower jaw

      No - sorry, this is for dental implants. I would research what an ENT (Ear, nose, throat) specialist can do for you.
