My Mom was from Calabria too. Came to the US in 1939, just before the war when she was 18. I have memories of so much different foods she would cook. Home made bread baked in a coal stove was my favorite. Then all the different Christmas and Easter foods. She lived to 98 yrs.

I have made fettuccine Alfredo from scratch twice. I tried Nonnas recipe…… my husband while eating it was making noises that I’ve never heard before! I’m a good cook but Nona is the Best Cooker! Buy your Grandma a garlic press, it's quick and easy. The garlic is minced much finer. It also juices the garlic as well. I couldn't imagine cooking without a garlic press..

Respect! Cooking with gas, using a chef's knife, roasting garlic (spices are basically oils and therefore unfold best when prepared with another oil or butter) ... My only issue with this video is that it is giving me great appetite!!!

I'm American and I've been studying Italian for 5 years on and off, but SERIOUSLY for about a year now. I love ALMOST EVERYTHING ITALIAN, and I love hearing spoken Italian by native Italians. I get frustrated because my English grammar rules ALWAYS creep in to my Italian studying and cause all kinds of havoc with me trying to understand Italian, but I absolutely love it!
