- The tenth day of my through hike of the Pennine Way, from the Tan Hill Inn, across the bleak and windy Bowes Moor to Bowes itself and the halfway point (more or less) of the Pennine Way. A quick visit to Bowes Castle, and a last minute change of plans to stay at the Ancient Unicorn in Bowes, an atmsopheric old coaching inn.
This hike is fundraiser for the fantastic service charity Who Dares Cares.

Awesome share
Bowes Moor did look bleak, would be pretty unpleasant in the rain. Interesting remains of Bowes Castle. Not an area I know.
Definitely bleak. Had it been raining I think it would have been utterly miserable. Bowes was very much worth the diversion, and I was very glad for the bed.
